Could be a good place - I wasn't able to find out. I visited the store and stood at the counter looking at their gear for about 15 minutes. Several employees in the store - nobody ever acknowledged me. Saw a couple other people do the same and all eventually walked out. From what I could see, selection and prices were fair. I might use them for prints, but staff seems unmanaged and not really trying to gain more business. read more

I sold some equipment to the store over a month and a half ago. it's been 50 days since I've been waiting on the check to be delivered. I've had to of called and emailed about 20 times. the Manager Mark wont even offer a glimmer of help. he has no solution. I was told "well go call the post office." no mark. why don't you actually do something to try and resolve this situation. I was told id hsve a check in 5-7 days. I think we're on day 51 now without a payment. they don't even know if my equipment is still in the store. read more

First let me say that I've dealt with Delaware Camera and Video for many years going back to when they were a locally owned company (which they are no longer). I have worked with many pleasant and knowledgeable sales associates. My last experience was terrible, and I won't use them anymore. I have bought many cameras and other gear from them over the years as well as printing projects. This is based on an interaction I had with the manager who I felt was unsympathetic and rude. My last project was to print 55 copies of one picture. Something I thought was pretty straightforward and I've done with them in the past several years. For the most part, I've dealt with a closer branch of their store which has been closed for the last couple of years. So, for me to reach the store on Delaware Avenue I have to drive approximately 14 miles one way. My project was prepared professionally in Photoshop and ready for print output, handed to them on a thumb drive. I dropped the project off and returned home, scheduled to pick up the prints in two days (approximately 28 miles driven). When I picked up the prints they were misprinted and unacceptable (these were to be gifts). I did not realize this when I picked up the prints as I was in a hurry and did not inspect them. When I got home, I realized the mistake (another 28 miles driven). I returned the following day and they were very accommodating offering to re-print the project which they did do, and they were perfect (another 28 miles). What could possibly go wrong now? Well, when I get home and started to prepare to mail the pictures I realized that they had only printed 46 pictures, shorting me 9 prints. (Another 28 miles driven). After realizing that mistake, I called them on the phone and requested nine more prints to be printed. I returned the following day to pick them up, and guess what? They were misprinted once again just like the first batch. I showed the mistake to the sales associate who told me he wouldn't charge me for the 9 prints. I did remind him that I already paid for 55 prints. He was very nice and offered to re-print these 9 prints once again. However, by that time I was not in a good frame of mind and said I would just take the pictures as is and started to leave. Then before leaving I asked that he have the manager call me on my cell phone. To my surprise, the manager was there all along standing about 6 feet away and hearing the whole conversation. He never came over to intervene. I thought that was quite unusual. He said "I'm the manager" and I told him "well then you heard the whole ordeal". He knew that this was my fourth trip to the store (over 100 miles) for this project. I was a little perturbed. The manager said I could reprint them again and "that's about all I can do". I said "an apology might be helpful". He never uttered another word. I paused for a bit and waited...and left the store never to go back again. Delaware Camera and Video: ONE star. And, that's for the old days. The manager needs professional instruction in customer relations. Lesson one: don't lose established clients; you do what you possibly can to keep them. Very helpful staff. I came here to get passport photos with custom sizing for a different country and was delighted to find them as I had called many places that could only do one size. No appointment necessary. They took the photos while I waited. I even double checked by measuring the prints. read more

I have gone into Delaware Camera and Video for equipment and passport photos twice, and each time I was treated as though the clerks were doing me a big favor by selling me things. About two weeks ago, my husband went there for passport photos. The one photograph that the clerk (a young woman with brown hair) took was not great. When my husband asked if she could take another shot, she had a temper tantrum. In a scolding, hostile tone, as though she were addressing an obnoxious child, she said "It's just a passport picture! I'll just take *one* more!" He left unsure if he had been treated poorly because of his race and ethnicity or if it was just generally lousy service, and also walked out the door with a picture he did not want to be looking at for 10 years. On his way home, my husband stopped at Walgreens and tried again. The passport photo service was more professional, faster, and the end result of a much higher quality than what he got at Delaware Camera & Video. We like to support locally-owned businesses, but the customer service is so poor at Delaware Camera and Video that we won't be returning. read more

This is a small non chain camera and video place. Its near the Delta Sonic on Delaware. Its been open for decades I believe and has adapted with the times. Its not a large chain, so walking in you get one on one help and deep knowledge about cameras and various photography related things. One of 4 stores under the umbrella of Jacks Cameras. Two of the other stores are in PA, the third in Williamsville. Walking in here you get personal touch and information. They spend time with you. They answer questions. They know a lot. I came in with a camera that was not working. The employee figured it out immediately and told me clearly what my options were. While I did not make a decision that day, I did leave with some small items I needed. Well stocked and easy to see merchandise and prices both. Easy parking. read more

Delaware Camera Mart has been around most of my kid-adult life. I remember the film day and processing color file as I recalled I had no major problems. That was in the day when the sales staff were dedicated to working with cameras and other aspects. Today everything is done differently. I purchased camera d5500 when it came out in 2015. They are not the cheapest but they are competitive. The difference is unlike purchasing from online is that you how that you can speak to a "knowledgeable people that can answer and even show the camera features. Compare in your hand, take shots so that you can look at the the photos on your memory card and look the the test photos on your equipment. That has a lot of value. So realizing that you may not be able to purchase locally all the time at least a couple of times you should give the local expects a chance to look at the equipment. i was really disappointed with this store. all my friends said such good things about this store with same day camera development. The price was more expensive then the camera itself but i thought it would be worth it for same day development. I was wrong. I was told my pictures would be done with 1-2 hours so I waited in the parking lot. When it got to be over 3 hours, i went inside to check on my pictures. The girl with brown hair and bangs was not friendly at all to me and was no help to me at all when i asked when my pictures will be done. I ended up leaving hoping i'd at least get my pictures in the email, but they close in less then 20 minutes and i have yet to get anything from them. Id rather go to walmart at this point. read more

My daughter started using film this summer as a hobby and loved her experience with Delaware Camera. The staff was friendly, helped her with the camera and remembered her when she came in! They developed her black and white film within 5 days and her colored film practically overnight. When she first stared using film I warned her that it is a long process and she would be better off sticking to using her phone, however, Delaware camera made the experience so fast and enjoyable she couldn't be happier! read more

The organization that I work for does a lot of work with Delaware Camera & I have to say, in the past 6 months or so, all I've received is TOP NOTCH customer service. Now I find myself sending many of my patrons & clients to Delaware Camera with no hesitation. I feel completely confident that the current staff will do their very best to take care of the many local patrons that I send their way & I've actually been told recently that there are a few staff members there that have gone above & beyond to assist customers. Go on-line and order from a computer. Because the computer will be friendlier and be more helpful. Today was the 4th time they lost my photos. The only reason I even went int the first place was because Nova closed recently. They told my white balance was off, when I am a professional and know how to take and edit my photos. THEIR white balance was off. Not only that but my pictures all came back dark and blurry. I only need them for proofs, but I plan to order my real prints from an on-line service that will stand by the quality of their work and not lose my project. read more

Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT get your film developed here. I brought in several disposable cameras to be developed thinking it was a smarter choice than Walgreens or Rite Aid. Sadly I was wrong. After getting the runaround for a month I was told their machine ate the film from 2 of the cameras and the photos could not be recovered. No big deal. Wow I just had quite the opposite experience compared to other reviews. I had a younger woman with brown hair and glasses come up to me while in the store. Not only was she unfriendly, but when I asked if the store was a corporation (curious if there were other locations) she basically told me it was none of my business. I was extremely surprised how rude she came across. I didn't even bother asking her about the camera equipment I had come in to see. Very disappointed she wasn't friendlier. Not to mention a lot of the camera gear is very much marked up in comparison to just buying what I need online. A great store for camera enthusiasts. You'll find a good selection of equipment, and though you may pay a premium price, you'll find the most knowledgeable photographic staff in the entire city. You'll also find film. The big box stores tell you it's dead, but don't buy the hype. It's alive and well here. I had recently bought a Panasonic Lumix camera. My dad had a bunch of Canon lenses that I wanted to use. I read online that there are several different kinds of adapters that would allow me to use these Canon lenses on my Panasonic camera. I went into this store hoping to speak to an expert that could help me identify the right adapter and order one for me. After speaking with the guy at the store and explaining what I was looking for he replied by grunting "we don't sell Panasonic cameras". Really?!? That's the great customer service that I get after hearing a great recommendation from a friend. The best thing about going into Delaware Camera was the positive vibe, I felt like the people who were working they're actually liked their jobs and genuinely wanted to help me with my camera issues. If they don't have it they will get it for you as i learned when i was recently buying a couple of old nikon lenses which were on the brink of being discontinued. Its hard to find a place to develop your film and usually you have to resort to walgreens, cvs,etc. And in my experience the photos there always come out badly. I started taking my film to delaware camera and I haven't had anything to complain about. They devolop the film super well and the prints are great too. I now exclusively go there for my film developin' needs. read more
