I love Del Taco---gooood food and gooood service except when ordering a fish taco with a crunchy shell. sometimes we'd forget to check our order before leaving the drive-thru and to my disappointment Id end up with the soft shell. My first experience with Del Taco in OKC (the one on North May) was anything but memorable. The street tacos weren't bad; just bland. I hadn't been tempted to go back, but Greg Elwell (I Ate Oklahoma) had good things to say about their meatless Beyond Tacos. So just before noon one recent Saturday, I found myself pulling into the drive thru of the Del Taco on West Reno. Let me start by saying I think Del Taco is more focused on freshness than your typical Mexican fast food chain. On the drive thru window (and I guess also inside) they post where the avocados are from and when they were picked. I'm sure there are some, but I've never seen an authentic taqueria or food truck serve crunchy tacos. Growing up, the Old El Paso taco shells Mom would warm in the oven were all I ever knew. And as a poor college kid at East Central in Ada, most nights was either McNally's chicken gizzards or livers, or Taco Mayo's 5 for $1 tacos. So in a fit of nostalgia, I ordered crunchy versions of both the Beyond Taco and the Beyond Avocado Taco. The first bite reminded me why I usually don't eat crunchy tacos in the car. The tacos are large and packed with fillings, so when the shell snaps in half, you essentially have a taco sandwich. It's not Del Taco's fault; just the nature of crunchy tacos. Given my low expectations, I have to say I was decently impressed by the taste. Yes, they taste like fast-food tacos, but upscale fast-food tacos. The shell and the veggies were decently fresh, and the slice of avocado was perfectly ripe. I had to refer back to their website to confirm I was eating dairy-free cheese. The Beyond "meat" was much better than I had expected. The flavors were a little different than your normal ground taco meat, but there wasn't anything off-putting. If you didn't tell most people it was plant-based, they would probably never know. So Del Taco gets a three-star rating, up from the two-stars from my first experience. Yes, it's still fast food, but maybe a rung up the ladder from the Bells and Buenos. read more

Update: husband called and talked to the GM, whom informed him that corporate was actually at their store. He asked to talk to cooperate and the manager said "they're too busy" and gave him a phone number to call instead. He tried calling, which lead to voicemail. Then he finally got a call back and they told him a report was made. Then today we get an email saying "thank you for your feedback here's a $1 off your next purchase" what a joke!! If you want a place that doesn't take customer service seriously then go to Del Taco. Never going back again. And we WILL be reporting your store to the health department. read more

This is my go to Del Taco location in OKC. They've been consistent since day one. There's always a friendly face at the register. Something I really like about Del Taco, in general, is they put cheese on things. Not the 10 baby shreds the other places like Taco Bell and Taco Bueno use, but a good fist full of awesome cheese. I am so happy to see Del Taco in Oklahoma City. Del Taco originated in Southern California. Growing up in Los Angeles area, I always preferred Del Taco over Taco Bell for good and not expensive fast food. Del taco serves Burgers, Fries, burritos, hard and soft tacos. They now have street tacos, fish tacos, salads and more. Today I tried the Fish taco, served on 2 soft corn tortillas, one very small piece of fish which was heavy batter and fried golden brown, shredded garbage, tomatoes and a lime. Very fishy tasting, not to my liking. My Carne Asada taco had really good flavor, served with 2 corn tortillas a very tasty chili sauce, chopped onions and cilantro very tasty the only flaw was the beef was not tender a bit on the tough side, but still good. I had to have my all time favorite "Del Taco" hard shell corn tortilla with a very generous amount of tasty ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes and cheddar cheese, yum - just as I remember many moons ago, and for this they get 4 stars. My friend order the chicken street tacos and the Pollo Asado with Avocado bowl, both very tasty and very tender chicken. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant was very clean. read more

I've been here several times just since they opened. I am in love with their steak and potato burrito; it's a meal by itself! The tacos and soft tacos are really good too and not expensive and they put plenty of meat and cheese in them. The tostadas are delicious as well. I was disappointed in the street taco though. Not just because I ordered it with no onions and it was loaded with them, but it had some kind of sauce on it. Street tacos do not have sauce on them. I didn't eat it. The chili on the chili cheese fries was good but the fries weren't cooked all the way and they forgot the sour cream I ordered and paid for. So far, any custom orders have been wrong. I only tried a bite of the mini cheesy bacon quesadilla and thought it was good but my son said it was just too much. There can never be too much bacon on anything, but he left a couple bites. The beef macho nacho was big with lots of beef and other toppings. The rice is fluffy and perfectly (lightly) seasoned. I love the strawberry lemonade. It's only $1 for a 16 ounce and it has real strawberries that have been sweetened. The lemonade itself is tart but the strawberries at the end make it perfect! The fish taco is another item I can't get enough of. Everything about it is delectable! Every time I've ordered it, the fish is hot and crispy and just mmhmmm perfect! The staff have always been happy and smiling when I've went through the drive thru. It never takes very long to order or get the food and that is surprising since I always have a large order. i ordered a burrito through the drive through, the "cali bacon" burrito. it was supposed to have steak, bacon, fries, cheese, chipotle sauce, and sour cream. when i received it i checked the bag and saw the "carne asada" sticker on the burrito, so i assumed it was right. i got home 15 minutes later, opened the burrito and took a bite. didn't taste anything like what i ordered so i opened it up. this one had chicken, rice, onions, pico de gallo, and guacamole on it. not one thing in this burrito was on the burrito i ordered. how do they get it that wrong? and why was the carne asada sticker on the wrapper? they weren't busy, it's 9:30pm and i was the only one in the drive through. so that's not an excuse. super pissed and i live 15 minutes away and once again, it's late, so i'm not driving all the way back. but now i wasted almost $9 on something i can't even eat. horrible. read more

I was pretty excited to see Del Taco pop up in our neighborhood. These were pretty standard in Los Angeles. Now we have one of our own in Oklahoma City. It's a nice change of pace from some of the other choices in the area. They have a really good selection of platos Right now I'm in love with the chicken verde burrito plato. Another standard in our household is The Spicy Jack chicken quesadilla. And any of the breakfast items are pretty darn tasty and get you ready for the day. I'm not going to pull my elephants and fast food is healthy, but with the choices around here it is one of the better ones and you can someone stick to a dietary plan. A friend of mine is a vegetarian and even she will eat here. One of my other favorite things I miss so much with the Del scorcho sauce. Yes I'm the person and ask for extra extra extra Del scorcho sauce even when I'm ordering a taco. I keep it in my desk at work, have a bunch at home, and I think I probably even carry it my purse. So if you're tired of the Bell, the Mayo, or the Bueno come on over and give Del Taco a chance. I think you'll be very very pleasantly surprised and even happy. read more

The food was great, our cashier was an absolute queen, and everything that we got was on point. However, we were missing our chips, which was a minor inconvenience (but not too bad). But that along with the fact that they were out of fish, mad me a little sad. And the reason that I couldn't even give them 4 stars is because one of our items was in the bag sideways, messing up the taco toppings, mixing it in the beans and rice. Big oof. Tacos are always good choice in most fast food taco establishments. Del Taco's have been always good, or are they just different? The biggest complaint I find is in the drive throughs, getting what you order. I'm the worst and often think that people are good and alway do their best.
