ALERT: BUG IN MY DEL TACO FOOD I went to this. Del Taco on Warner Ave. yesterday (which I've frequented for years) and found (what I think is) a cricket in my Epic burrito! But the almost more mind blowing experience I had was how that Del Taco dealt with the situation. I find the bug (had bought the food via drive thru), go back in to alert them of what happened, and this is what ensued: Me: "look at what I found in my burrito." Female manager (whose name I won't say, but she's the usual manager on staff there): "what is that?!" Me: "I don't know. That's what I was hoping maybe you could tell me. What happened here that this got into the food?" Manager: says nothing in reply, but wraps up the burrito and chucks it into the small wastebasket behind her and curtly ask me, "do you want me to remake it or do you want a refund?!" Me: "uhh, a refund; I don't want another burrito made for me from the same supply that that one just came from." Manager: says nothing more; takes my receipt which I had brought back in with me, and does her thing on the register. She proceeds NOT to give me a full refund, but refunds only the one burrito, telling me, "your refund amount is $7.75. Do you want it in cash or on a card?" The original tender used was cash so I tell her cash. She puts the money on the counter, still says nothing more, and coldly does an about face and goes back to the assembly line for a short moment and then disappears into the back area. I stand there in disbelief (have three children with me who are asking if they'll give us a free drink or some donut holes --they're kids), and am just kind of processing the whole situation. The gravity and mis-handling of the whole thing hits me, and I catch a second wind. Me (to the only visible employee at this point, the guy handling the drive thru line): "you know what, can you get the manager back out here?" Me (once manager returns): "I gotta tell you, I'm pretty shocked at how you just handled this whole thing! I come to you with a disgusting bug in my food.; a bug!! This isn't a 'you put onions in my burrito when I said no onions,' and this is way more egregious than even a hair. This is a dead insect in my burrito! And you act as if I'm inconveniencing you! You don't even have the decency to apologize or issue me a full refund, only a partial refund!" Manager: "I did say sorry. You must've not heard me." (Her piss poor attitude is starting to make a 180 degree turn around as she sees that I'm now pissed and calling her on her audacity.) Me: "No, you never once uttered the word sorry or any sort of apology (I was on weighted breath listening for one), expressed zero shock, as though I'm the seventh person today with this complaint, and you made no effort to ask what you could do to make up for this, made no effort to offer an explanation, whether you could perhaps offer something else from off the menu for the mishap, that you would investigate this and whether I wanted a call back from upper management--something along some professional and courteous lines--NOTHING! Maybe if this bug had been in YOUR mouth you'd be more upset or sympathetic!" To sum this up, after I pitched that mini-fit, she tells me how she WAS looking into it, that that's why she went back to the food trays to look at them (big whoop, she didn't do that as I stood there) and she then shows me some blue gloves that she had curled up in the palm of her hand--whatever that was supposed to mean to me. In her 180 degree attitude adjustment that I forced on her, she also started to offer me "something else from the menu." [Note: I reluctantly went ahead and asked for a strawberry shake and order of French fries because my girls were pushing for this. Had it been me, after that shameful altercation, I would've just left because it's the principle of the matter and I'd do the adult thing and leave with my dignity intact and not take their resentful handout, but I went ahead and appeased my children's cravings.] BE AWARE of what you're eating here at this Del Taco, folks. I know this location of theirs has been there forever and is practically an HB historical site, but that's irrelevant, as it's whoever is on staff and under what management the place is, that determines what you're going to get there, how much they're going to care and take their jobs seriously, and how you're going to get treated there any given day. Got my order taken by a careless worker, she looked like a teen had glasses I didn't see her name tag. But She got my order wrong and overcharged me I never asked for what she charged me for. I got "to go" so I got to my car and saw it was wrong. I went back& said it was wrong & asked if she could refund me there was excuses so I asked for a manager. She walked to the back and another teen came over to help me . He said they didn't have a manager and couldn't refund me, I asked why? He asked his coworker if he did refunds if he would get into trouble". Then walked away when I was talking to him to take a drive thru order he was nice but I could tell he was struggling. I asked for the girl that took my order because if she took it wrong why couldn't she issue the refund? But supposedly her she so happened to go take her break after I walked in and asked for help to correct my order. She knew what she did because she still kept whispering to her coworker on the way to the back. Very unprofessional and unfortunately very sad how things are being ran in the " night shift". Order was places around 8:40pm I walked back in there @8:50pm. Hopefully if management cares they'll retrain their staff. read more

Todays coupon sheet in the mailbox included a Buy 1 get one free for Del Double Cheeseburgers ($5.99 ea). My husband loves Del Taco and unfortunately we live across the street from a Taco Bell. So his eyes lit up when I said I could drive there to pick up. He loves the Del Beef Burritos and the fries. His former favorite combo #11 used to be a Del Beef Burrito with a taco, fries and drink. The current #11 ($10.59) has been downsized and they've dropped the taco. Shrinkflation! I also ordered us the 4pc Carmel Cheesecake Bites ($7.19) and they were just as good as I remembered. I recently used my del Taco app and I ordered the three fish tacos for $7 and the epic Cali burrito with chicken and bacon first off the fish tacos did not taste like fish at all there's no sauce in the cabbage and it's just dry cabbage and fried fish that has no flavor so while edible it just isn't something I'll pay $7 to order again. The Cali epic burrito with chicken and bacon was again dry like the tacos with cabbage and no sauce inside of the epic burrito you would expect some sour cream or chipotle sauce like it says on the menu but Chipotle means its a dried jalapeno and smoked and I tasted no smoked flavor no dried jalapeno flavor absolutely really no flavor or sauce at all the bacon bits that they sprinkle inside the burrito are as hard as little pebbles and actually hurt your teeth . I drove up to the drive through to order on Tuesday. I had asked the person if they still had their Tuesday special for the 3 tacos. He responds with yes, we do have it. So I proceed to order 18 tacos, in which he kept replying 15. But once he had 18, he told me the price was going to be $27 something. I had told him wait that doesn't sound right and just decided to drive up to the window to talk to him since there were no cars in front of me. As I drove up, he repeated your total today is $27 something. I asked him, that doesn't sound right. Is this for the Tuesday taco deal, the one that was like 3 tacos for a dollar something. He then responds, yes you are getting the deal the original price was $42 and you saved $15? I then asked him, okay then what's the price of 3 tacos for the deal now. He then responds "I don't know" and proceeds to stand there for a minute or 2 trying to figure it out. Then he asks me if I'm good at math and to try to help him out. At this point after waiting 2-3 minutes for him to tell me the price for 3 tacos in the deal. I just told him, this doesn't sound right. I order from here multiple times i've never had this issue. I just kept asking him if they had changed the deal. He said no we still have the deal. This is the deal price. I said never mind, just cancel the order. He then just says okay, we'll just take a picture of your license plate. Long rant almost done. That annoyed me, so I pulled over and went inside to confront him. I explained to him how I just pulled up and asked if he had the deal at the drive through to which he confirmed, then I asked him again what the price was for 3 tacos which he didn't know. Then I asked to speak to a manager. He said he was the manager "Hugo". Then he goes on about how I had wasted all this food that needs to go in the trash now because I didn't pay for it. I've never had this problem before. I felt like I asked for confirmation multiple times and never got a response. Poor response from a manager. Best del taco ever! Food was accurate, quickly made and fresh! Guest service was excellent between every employee that helped me. A crazy old woman wearing biking gear was a horrible and rude guest, yelled at employee, but he treated her kind and with respect. Wow. This is the BEST Del Taco I have ever went to! Just moved here from Vegas, thought I'd give Del Taco a try after a lengthy absence due to the abysmal Del Tacos in Vegas. This staff is not only friendly, they're efficient, professional and prepare great Del Taco menu items. And delivered with a smile. Hats office to mgmt here too, based on some of your employee wall stories you have kept some good hardworking people around for the long-term and I believe you take care of their loyalty. Worst experience with the Manager Janna, at least she claimed to be the manager. Young Latina with hair that comes past her shoulders dark brown and green wears glasses and has a septum piercing. Extremely rude and has a bad attitude. You know it's bad enough that you already know your burger and fries are not gonna look anything like the picture on the menu but when it looks this sad and you just asked for an extra slice of tomato and they say well, it comes with two slices, and I responded with These two slices barely add up to one regular slice the main point is this they don't even cover the whole sandwich so you get a bite of tomato in every bite of your hamburger, same problem with the cheese. They (deltaco) did once provide me with compensatory deals for their misgivings, so an allowance was made... But I've also had them take funds without compensation. The last issue was the last draw!!
