Camp Pendleton's best hidden spot. I can't wait to come back. One benefit of still being in the service. Open to active duty, reserves/guard, veterans/retired. Great service, respectful tenants staying, quiet and peaceful base. You can also bring an RV and camp.

Such a beautiful day at the beach! We feel so grateful to have this on Camp Pendleton. Access to this beach is one of the perks as a retired Air Force veteran. We hadn't been here in years. We were aware that there are cottages that could be rented here but we did not realize there is a Ramones Cantina and rented cabanas. We ordered margaritas from Ramones and then shave ice from a food truck. So refreshing! The cabanas can be rented for $50 per day through Beach Services. Lots of folks boogie boarding & families enjoying the day. There's a nice playground for the kids. I can't wait to bring my grandson here. There is RV parking and ample vehicle parking. We saw a lot of tents throughout We're pleasantly surprised at how nice it truly is here. So glad we got a good dose of Vitamin D and clean air! We're making plans to rent a cabana one of these days!

Beautiful campground! Unfortunately, when it rains it does flood a lot, so if rain is in the forecast be prepared to have waterproof shoes. Beyond that we were in spot #33 which was located at the far end of the campground (the last site on the beach) so neighbors only on one side. The WiFi at this spot was pretty spotty so we used our hotspots to stream a movie during the downpour. I think you probably wouldn't have this issue if you were at a site a bit closer to the office/router area. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table. The beachfront sites ($90.00 X night) have spectacular views and access to the very large beach area. However, for $80.00 x night sites the walk to the beach is 30 seconds, so no real bad sites. Everyone was very friendly. The grounds also have a walk up cantina you can get alcoholic drinks and bites. There is also a kid friendly cove which is a really cool thing if you have kiddos (really safe since there really aren't any crazy swells). In all, a great experience and looking forward to coming back when the suns out so we can have our buns out! lol. Happy camping!

This place is always a home run. Everyone over the phone and in person are professional, patient, kind and efficient. This time we stayed in the marina. It's remarkable how nice the villas are and we are grateful. Bravo Zulu!

Great beach here on Camp Pendleton. The crowd isn't bad at all and parking is very easy.

First time staying at the literal end of the Summer season. My first night was summer prices, and the second night was winter prices. The Good: The cottages are nice and functional. You have two reserved parking spaces in front. The bed was comfortable with 4 pillows. The bathroom provided soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. The kitchen had a coffee maker and toaster, plus a full-sized stove and refrigerator. There were two large screen flat TVs. It's pretty much right on the beach. And this beach is well-maintained, as I saw them on early Monday morning with a bulldozer making sure the sand berm was in perfect condition. There wasn't a ton of people on the beach. I remember coming a few weekends earlier and the beach was packed. Each cottage had a patio table, a weber type charcoal grill, and a fire pit. There is a marine mart (for retirees, military, etc) that sold a ton of snacks and firewood. They do check IDs. There is always the commissary on Mainside for meats and more detailed supplies. Or not far in Oceanside, there is a mini Walmart, 99 cent store, etc. On the weekend, there was a Dunkin Donuts food truck in the parking lot in the morning. The Bad: The DirectTV went out on one of the TVs. Covid19 changes meant no daily room cleanings. Covid19 meant that you were given some paper plates, bowls, cups, and plastic flatware. I used the plates as kindling for the fire. There was nothing to cook with: pots, pans, etc. The WiFi was out the entire weekend. Indifferent: Most of the other people staying in the cottages are families and retirees. Some of the marines use the beach for runs and workouts early in the weekday morning. The Del Mar gate closed at 8 PM and reopened at 6 AM Conclusion: If you want a clean beach experience for the cost of the nicer hotel rooms in Oceanside, this is the place. I think I'll be back but on a busier weekend or July 4th if I can score that week.

Awesome place, safe and priced right! Beach is clean and safe, atmosphere is amazing. You may even get to see some amazing tactical vehicles.

Hard to beat a single bedroom beach cottage with a kitchen and patio to enjoy an almost private beach! Perfect place to enjoy sunsets and destress as you listen to the waves. Great watching point too in the morning of the surfers. Due to Covid the cottages are providing a few paper plates, bowls, cups and utensils instead of the kitchenware they used to be stocked with. They still have pots and pans for patrons to use in the cottage. Staff at the office were friendly and accommodating.

This is my favorite place to camp ! It's right on the beach. They have cottages you can rent or RV campsites or even tent space to rent. We have an RV so we usually do the RV camping. We have done the cottages it's right on the beach and fun getaway. They have a ice cream truck that drives thru the site. They sometimes have the Dole whip Truck parked there although they weren't there the last time we came. A Volleyball net was set up nearby.

First time at this beach. Have to have a military base access. Super nice beach. You can camp off the beach. They have a small restaurant off the beach. There's a kids play area in the beach. The beach is open to about 8-6 and base rules are that you can't go into the water after those hours. No life guard in duty. If you are able to get on the base and like benefit of having less people on a Cali beach then you can't go wrong here.

I appreciate this benefit of being able to rent these beach cottages. They come with coffee and some bare necessities (unlike the San Onofre beach cottages). The rooms are clean but the check-in process is lengthy, be prepared to stand in a long line.

We stayed at his latest build, The Beach House, which was beautiful! The tiny house is fitted with everything one might need to take a small vacation; two beds, two floors, HDTV with Netflix, bathroom, and full kitchen. There are plenty of little areas between areas that Greg has put in there to allow for storage while still having the little homes feel uncluttered and open-floored. The pool area is so nice! There's a very nice pool lined with a great selection of plants, palm trees, and a small waterfall feature. There's a jacuzzi that you can jump into and enjoy. There is a couple small tables where you might want to sit and eat something, a chimney with firewood already provided by Greg and Michelle, and a BBQ if you want to chuck some steaks on there and grill. All in all, Greg and Michelle have an amazing business that is truly an experience. Thank you guys for the hospitality, we'll definitely be back!

Among only a few of their disappointments are- extremely long waits on hold; no call backs; there was a problem with a credit card and they end up sending me to a collections , saying that they had tried to call me an email me and call me but there was no record! So the lied! I had to spend much extra time getting that off my record but I still had to pay a couple of hundred dollars just for the fees and Welk/Hyatt took no responsibility. They have sent my points on to Interval without my permission and then told me they were doing a courtesy by giving me back my points! Then when I said, I want to keep all of my points with you for this time, they ended up suspending 180 /240 points- after paying two thousand dollars for HOA fees. They could have made an exception... Joyce simply did not care....terrible customer service. She told me I could exit and try to sell the property ( and that is very difficult , because people have a wizened up to timeshares scams? ) Joyce from resolutions was very cold and rude.... I look at that as theft. They might seem nice , but they don't take care of their clients and they make a lot of mistakes and they don't remedy them. And who knows why they have that kind of attitude? Maybe they are not paid well or treated well , and that's why they treat their clients as such. I've also stayed in rooms that had no hot water. And the showers weren't working! But most of the time , the rooms are beautiful. If you want to stay at the Welk or other resorts, the best way to do it is booking directly with the resort. They will tell you that the time sure is the best way.But it's not. Save yourself a lot of heartache and don't do timeshares; it's definitely a waste of much of your energy trying to book w them and deal with all the mishaps. And unkindnesses.

Or perhaps fell apart is more accurate. So many things went wrong. The sink handles barely turn. The toilet broke twice. The phones didn't work. Maintenance is slow to respond. There wasn't enough soap to wash the dishes all week and surprise, they charge if you need more. In the recreational center the only chess board was missing 6 pieces. How hard is it to buy another chess board when your rec center only has one? They charge for shuffle board if you want to play. My wife says this place was great in her childhood and I believe her. But it's really lost it's way. Pretty terrible experience all around, especially considering the hefty price.

We arrived early and got a parking pass so we could go out and explore the area while waiting for check-in. The check-in process was also quick and easy. We started each day with the complimentary breakfast items and were happy with the options. I stopped in at the end of each night to grab hot apple cider from the lobby, and we enjoyed it while sitting at one of the many fire pits before going back to the room. The only odd moment was on our last night when two fire pits turned off as we went to sit at them. The first turned off next to the lobby, then we moved to a second in the pool area that also turned off. After the second one, we just went back to our room and looked back to see both working again. When we got to the front desk to check in, we had to wait while staff checked in another guest, which was understandable. However, after waiting patiently, multiple guests who arrived after us were helped before we were. Even a family who walked in later was taken ahead of us, which was frustrating and set a negative tone right from the start. I asked about upgrading to an ocean view room and was offered a room for an additional $100 that barely had a view at all. On top of that, I had booked a room with two queen beds, and they tried to offer a one-king bed room instead, which didn't make sense for a family stay. Once we got to the room, the beds did not appear to be true queen size and the room had a strong unpleasant odor. The air conditioning did not cool properly, and some areas of the room did not seem clean. We tried to make the best of the evening since we were only staying one night. Later in the evening, after I had taken a shower and was simply walking around the room while my family watched TV, we received a noise complaint and someone knocked on our door. We were not being loud at all -- just normal movement in the room. It was surprising and honestly upsetting to be approached about noise when we were simply settling in for the night. It made the stay uncomfortable and took away from what was supposed to be a relaxing beach getaway. Overall, the cleanliness, room conditions, and customer service need improvement. The property has a great location, but our experience did not match the expectations.

The staff were warm, helpful, and even upgraded our room as part of the AMEX perk when available, which I appreciated. Now for the room. The view of the ocean and boardwalk was beautiful, but the room itself felt very average. The mattress was uncomfortable, and there's no bathtub, just a shower. Even the robes felt cheap and thin. For a four-star hotel, referred to as a Fine Resorts hotel, I expected more. As far as amenities, I didn't check out the fitness center, but an employee mentioned the sister property has the better gym. You can use amenities at both locations, but there aren't many dining options here. The rooftop bar is cute with a relaxed vibe, and I've been to Valle for my birthday before, which was fantastic. But for the AMEX-included breakfast, you have to go to the sister resort, which isn't really the atmosphere I want when I book a staycation. I do have to say the blackout curtains were great. They worked perfectly. Checkout was where things went downhill. Around 10 a.m., housekeeping knocked. I put up the Do Not Disturb sign and let them know we had a 4 p.m. checkout. Not long after, someone else knocked. I told them the same thing. Then a third knock. At that point, it was frustrating. The team really needs to pay closer attention to the DND sign and the fact that AMEX guests have confirmed late checkout. When I went downstairs to check out, they said they'd email my receipt, but it never arrived. Overall, the hotel is just okay. The Michelin-star restaurant is the standout, but outside of that, there aren't many food options, not a lot of amenities, and the energy is extremely quiet. If you're planning a staycation, I wouldn't recommend it. You'll end up needing to leave the property to find anything lively or interesting.
