I'll tell you what Here's what happened to me. The food was great, the ambience was very nice. Our waitress was very accommodating! But, when I got my check, I was dismayed. It wasn't necessarily the total that threw me off. Well, you know what, on second thought the total did throw me off. But what really changed everything for me was WHAT was on the check. I got myself three fine, draft beers and an entree. And I said, hey, let me throw in a club soda. Right? Club soda is just a little carbonated water. It comes out of the machine and it usually tastes more like what normal people order and not like club soda because no one orders club soda. Clearly, going through my logic, I wouldn't expect club soda to be charged. The way I see it, ordering the things I ordered and spending time here, I expected that the cost of the club soda would be in line with what I expect it cost them. Maybe $0. Right? A free seltzer? NO. IT WASNT. I HAD TO PAY FOR WATER WITH CARBON IN IT. Not good, folks. I understand if it's the only thing you order. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich from their lunch menu and it was hands down my favorite . Their margaritas are good with many tequila options . Yeah, I was on this Tex-Mex kick... Ended up kidnapping my friend to try this place out being its been in my town for a while now. It was delicious. For a nice, sit down Tex-Mex type dining. I had a really good experience. The decor is also fun and enjoyable for what it is. We ordered the House Margaritas for like $3 (They have a specials during the weekdays). They were some top notch margaritas. The appetizer we got was called the Lone Star Fries, with the Pulled Pork. Outstanding I ended up ordering the Lobster Quesadilla. Phenomenal ! Really good food, fun atmosphere, excellent music. My family went on a Saturday afternoon and found it to be a positive experience. My wife and I ordered the Taco Trio, it was tough to pick a favorite out of the fish, steak and chicken, but the fish slightly edged out the other two. We had our Christmas party at Del Fuego in Patchogue and it was fabulous. Great friendly service in a cool upbeat atmosphere and excellent food. Wings, Quesadillas, Nachos were yummy apps. Our dinner buffet had carnitas, beef, steak and chicken fajitas, salad, rice, beans and everything was prepared with a skilled hand of delicious spicing. My wife and I are familiar w Del Fuego in St. James, so we headed to Patchogue to try the newest location. Biiiig restaurant compared to the other, right on Main St. Good move. Back to the food, Although it's the same menu, I gotta say the other location has tastier food. We both loved the tacos previously, so much so that we were jonesing for them so we both got them again. They just weren't as good as the other place. Service was good and a nice looking place. I came here with my fiance for a Sunday night dinner. We were quickly seated outside at a table for 2. We were quickly given water as well as chips and salsa, which was very good. The big reason I am giving 3 stars is because after the water was delivered, about 15 minutes later, we were wondering where the waitress was, as no one came to take our drink order. My fiance went inside and asked the hostess who said someone would be right out. 5 minutes later, the waitress came out. 20 minutes just to take our drink order with the excuse of the rest of her tables being elsewhere is not the greatest first impression. Location is great and interior space is well set up, making good use of a huge, rectangular bar in the middle of the space. Even on a crowded night the huge bar absorbs a lot of people so it doesn't feel as cramped as many of the other smaller mainstreet bars. Chips on the table are usually good (warm and salty), and salsa is good too. Chips come out fast, and the waitstaff that is on water, chips, and salsa refill duties are awesome and on top of their game, bringing refills promptly. Word of caution: don't fill up on the chips! As far as appetizers, I've had only the guacamole. For the cost its not worth it, not anything great. The food itself is ok. Nothing extraordinary or rave worthy, but solid tex-mex style. As a vegan there were a bit too many meat based entres for my liking. I stick to the bean burrito, customize it to leave out sour cream/cheese. Yucca fries were good, but the ones down the street in Gallo are better. I've had the burrito in a taco shell, but it really cuts down the size of "burrito fillings" you get. Dessert was good, drunken plaintains were spicy and not what I would order again. Churros were definitely better. They have a good cocktail and tequila selection. This place has open flames around the restaurant and as my friend stood up to go to the bathroom her hair caught on fire. She lost a good chunk of her hair and was extremely scared and embarrassed. We put it out but the entire restaurant saw and smelled what happened. Nobody came over to see if she was ok and when we told the waiter he kind of laughed it off and said worse things could happen. We asked to speak to the manager and he didn't come to the table. We asked a second time and he finally came over. When he came over he said he saw what happened as it was happening and thought no way this was happening. So he saw it and didn't come see if everything was ok or offer to help the situation? That's how you run a restaurant? When he came to the table he said "we have them all over the restaurant, they are the lighting". Oh yeah? The lamps hanging from the ceiling aren't the lighting? This is not safe and unacceptable. The worst part is that he said he saw it happen but had to be asked twice to come to the table. Full disclosure: they did end up paying for her meal and gave her a gift card. You can definitely find better, more authentic Mexican/Tex-Mex at a cheaper price, but this place is more of an upscale atmosphere if you're srs business and don't want to eat somewhere without waiting service. I wanted to like this place more! While I loved the decor of this place, and the service was also great (shout out to Michelle behind the bar!), I found the food to be a bit uninspired. I got the chicken fajita wrap, which I found to be pretty bland. The fries served with it were a bit burned and nothing special. My friend ordered a burger which was cooked completely wrong; almost well done when asked for medium rare, so that was also disappointing. This was was AWESOME! My fiance had the BBQ Brisket Enchilada and I had the Chef Steves Fried Chicken with sweet potato fries. OMG it was so good...all of it! There was a ton of Brisket in the Enchilada. Plate was so big that he only ate half and took the rest home. Same with the Fried chicken. Pieces were boneless and there were 2.
