My car didn't look too bad but drove much worse after an accident. I was so relieved when the other driver's insurance Allstate admitted liability and assured me if I used their shop, the work would be guaranteed for life. I chose DeKalb Collision since they easily had the best ratings on the list. I waited a few days for lot availability then DeKalb Collision arranged a same day tow. When I did the walk through with DJ, he said DeKalb Collision (like all the shops on the list) is a body and paint shop. That's fine if your car has external damage like a dent or bumper repair. But if there are mechanical issues like a noise or if it isn't driving the same, take it somewhere else. Otherwise, DeKalb Collision will do the body work and you'll have to take it to another shop for the internal issues anyway.. When I told DJ I'd rather take my car to a shop that could diagnose and fix everything, he said they'd take it to an alignment specialist. When I said I didn't think that was the issue and I'd rather take it to the dealer, DJ assured me that this was just the first step. They'd take it to a dealer if the alignment specialist couldn't resolve it.. DeKalb Collision got the alignment checked. Then they communicated directly with Allstate, I was not part of the conversation. DeKalb Collision told me the accident didn't cause the mechanical issues which they couldn't even diagnose. Allstate then said the internal repairs wouldn't be covered. In other words, Allstate was DeKalb Collision's customer, not me. Also, communication was terrible. DeKalb Collision never returned calls as promised. So even though they'd had my car for two weeks I had to call daily for five days while they made excuses such as not having the required paperwork or "Allstate's permission" before they even started repairs. TIP - If you're in an accident and it isn't your fault, get a police report, choose your own shop and let the other driver's insurance company reimburse you. Better yet, call an attorney. Don't naively believe the insurance company will do the right thing. Overall, DeKalb Collision took three weeks to repair my bumper which they admitted didn't take long to fix. The work was bad - next day part coming off They damaged my seat - had something sitting on it that cause scratches and hole They kept the car 3 weeks - for minor repair. So I had an accident and progressive recommended this shop as one of their preferred ones. When they reached out they told me that the soonest they got get me in would be May 1st. It's March 1!!! And the lady said it so calmly like it wasn't the most ridiculous thing ever, instead of just advising me they didn't have availability or even removing themselves from Progressive's list. Like are you insane?! Not to mention, May 1st was the date for them to TOW MY VEHICLE IN! They weren't even starting the work on that date so it would be well into June before I got my car back. My car was totaled while parked overnight after being collided into by another car that ran off the road. For one reason or another this wasn't going to be covered by the insurance company. So here I found myself with an unusable car and no help from insurance. After several calls to a number of local shops I was referred to Dekalb Collision Center. This review was inspired by the top notch customer service experience I received from Alicia. I explained my situation to her and not only did she immediately understand, she expressed understanding and empathy. I'm new to this insurance and car repair scene, so this gesture meant a lot. I sent her over pictures of the damaged vehicle and she was able to confirm that indeed it would be a total loss. This alone would have been good service as I had mostly run into voicemail boxes when calling other companies, and even those who picked up were slow to follow up with answers. Alicia was prompt and thorough. The quality service doesn't stop there however. Alicia offered to pass along my photos to folks who purchase salvage vehicles. She was able to get me a sale price that was twice as good as the best deal I was able to find (after speaking to different auto parts stores and junkyards). She's an incredible asset to the Dekalb Collision Center team and I wasn't at all surprised to see her mentioned in other reviews on this website. It's also worth noting that at no point was I even really a customer of Dekalb Collision. I never visited. I never purchased anything. If this is the service offered to just folks looking for help and information I can imagine it would be a treat to work with them as a paying customer. Do NOT bring your car here!! After waiting almost 3 months to have my car, I finally got it back only to still have issues with it. Between playing a guessing game on what was wrong with it and not knowing when parts were coming in or what parts actually needed to be fixed, I finally just took it to the dealer which thankfully resolved the issue. I took my car here for an insurance repair after my side mirror was knocked off. It took them a week and a half to get the parts and repair the mirror. On the day of completion I was told to come pickup the car at 10am. I got a call 30 minutes beforehand and was told there was an "unexpected incident" and they had to repaint part of the mirror and asked if I could wait an additional hour to pick it up. When I arrived the mirror looked good as new, however there were dents and red scratched on the back of my car and spots had been painted over. The manager swears that my car sat on their lot and no one hit it. Other than that the front desk crew was nice. read more

DeKalb Collision took my car in on short notice when another shop never scheduled my repair work. DC worked with my insurance company when additional damage beyond the original estimate was discovered, called me to give me status updates, and completed the work in a timely manner. The shop manager was very friendly and helpful. The quality of work was excellent- I could not tell that any damage had ever occurred to my car! They also vacuumed the inside and washed the exterior of the car. I highly recommend DeKalb Collision and would definitely use them again. read more

This is a review for Dekalb Collision Center Inc. in Avondale Estates. For some reason, it looks like a listing for GLA Decatur comes up with the same address. Not sure the connection or if GLA is the parent company of Dekalb Collision Center? I recently brought my 2010 Honda Civic to be repaired after a bumper bender with a Marta Bus. Originally, I received a quote from 'Service King Collision Repair of Decatur' in excess of $2,500.00 for all repairs. However, after closer inspection of the estimate, it was evident that Michelle, the estimator at Service King, included cosmetic damages that weren't related to my accident. No idea why she did this, knowing full well I was paying out of pocket for these repairs. Dekalb Collision Center Inc. gave me a quote of $1,585.00 to fix only the damaged areas to my vehicle and saved me about $1,000 dollars. This included a bumper and headlight as well as paint. They were attentive and did good work. My only regret is that I chose to go with an After Market Bumper, rather than an OEM part. The replacement bumper doesn't fit as perfectly and in two places there's nearly a 1/4" gap around the headlights. When I spoke with them after the work was completed, it was explained that the new bumper was on there as tight as possible and the gaps couldn't be helped, remedied or made smaller. It should be noted that I was asked before any work was started if I wanted to go with After Market parts to save over $300.00 and I said stated clearly that I did. I simply wish the part was a better fit. However, all repairs from Dekalb Collision Center come with a lifetime guarantee, so I feel confident that I'll be taken care of should I have any further problems. Also, I need to give a shout out to Alicia, who is incredibly personable, helpful and still understands the importance of Customer Service. I would certainly recommend them to anyone. read more

I was told to take my car to Dekalb after I complained about work done by another company through Progressive Insurance. My car was parked at their premises for 3 days before Progressive arranged to have it taken back to the other guys as their repairs were under warranty. While it was parked at DeKalb I had 2 center wheel caps and badges taken off my car's alloy rims. Dekalb flatly refused to take responsibility, telling me I had no proof they were on the car when I dropped it off, and then telling me their sign at the front office says they're not responsible for any theft or damage. I'd understand it if I left something in my car of value, but these were parts of my car. The person I spoke to. Alan, flatly refused to work with me. They were asked to check their security cameras but we were told they only store information for 7 days. How convenient. read more

I first used Dekalb Collision center five years ago, when someone hit my Lexus IS250 and the dealership recommended them. They did a fantastic job then, so when I had a bumper to bumper with the same car 4 months ago, I took it to Dekalb Collision Center again. Once more, excellent work and communication. They installed a new bumper cover and fixed a few other things. The initial insurance estimate didn't account for everything that needed to be fixed, but I didn't have to worry about dealing with the agency. They contacted the insurance, submitted the reports and received authorization to conduct the work. With a brand new bumper cover in place, I noticed how many tiny chips my hood paint had suffered from 5 years of Atlanta's highway driving. So, a week later I went back and paid out-of- pocket to get it repainted. The paint job on the hood was perfect and the price fair. My car now looks brand new! I like that there is a car rental office a block or two away, because the first time I used them I was able to pick up a rental and go to work within minutes of dropping off the car for repair. Their prices are very fair or better than other places, they are up-front, and while working with my insurance they took care of everything, communicating every step of the way. Alicia Brown is the front desk person and she was fantastic. It's a privately-owned shop and it has been there for ages.They are very good time-wise as well. Highly recommend them! read more

In 2010 I was hit from behind. I went to several repair shops and received estimates. I choose DeKalb Collision Center and I'm so glad I did. They repaired my truck in 3 days! They were fast! The customer service was great. My truck also was spotless when I received it. The paint matched perfectly. The lines in the truck were correct and the bumper was aligned perfectly. I pass by here on my way to work and their business parking lot is always full of cars. The thing I notice besides the volume they have is that they cars are always changing. That tells me they aren't holding onto cars and are moving cars through their system fast. read more

I had my old bimmer repaired there a while back, it was from a minor front end collision that smushed the front end of my beautiful car about 1 ft worth of metal in. My insurance company, USAA, said they'd have to total it. At the time I had been working for the dealerships on Church Street and heard good things about these guys at Dekalb Collision. They were very pleasant. The initial estimate would have sent my car to wholesale/junk....HOWEVER....these guys went back and found used parts and were able to do the repairs, saving my car! I was involved in a accident & my insurance company used this company to repair my car well.....when I received my car back (that I've only had 5 months) back it came out worst than it went in.The check engine was on & the fuel pump was damaged which broke my gas light.They took no blame of course & also I took it to a dealership & come to find out they didn't even repair my car back correctly the part they replaced had to be re done! I'm now stuck paying for something that I entrusted this shop to fix.I work in customer service & hate to write bad reviews but in this case it's more than necessary. read more

I brought my car there for insurance repairs (I was rear-ended) on the recommendation of a friend. The initial repairs were not done right and I had to bring the car back. Sloppy work: buff marks in the paint, wavy body panels, panel not fitting properly, missing panel clips, etc. In addition, they did not identify all of the damage the first time, so the adjuster had to be hauled back out. The bodywork was finally finished properly but they left a mess inside the car: dusty fingerprints on the seat and door and greasy fingerprints on the sunroof glass. All of this took three months. They blamed the delay on the insurance company, but clearly it was Dekalb Collison's fault that the repairs were not done correctly the first time and that they failed to point out all the damage to the insurance company the first time as well.
