We found a sandal that worked and was comfortable for my mom but they didn't have her size in tan. So we took it to the counter we're 3 ladies were present. One clerk came upto the register and we asked for our need; she checked inventory and provided search results. I then asked if it work faster if she could call or if I. She recruited Hannah and gave her the task to call our chosen store location. Honestly none of them appeared eager to call, there's wasn't a line and they weren't busy doing sons not sure why. Ultimately the Ward Parkway location had the sandal size as inventory showed. I then asked about the shoe box we brought up as reference to show; they asked me to re-shelf it.

I'd like to spotlight that they now carry Frye & Co., the lower-price line of The Frye Company! I don't often seen this, so it was a pleasure to be able to try on this shoe. As always, the sales are bountiful, but they removed their sale price calculator based on the color of the tag. Found my self hesitant to purchase because I didn't know the actual price unless I asked an employee. There were many putting inventory on the floor, but none greeted me, as they seemed like they were very busy despite only a few other customers. The location was exceptionally clean, with no shoes littering the floor like you'd see in department stores or clearance racks elsewhere. Every shoe had a pair, and different styles had plenty size options. There was only 1 or 2 styles that didn't have my size (7.5w). Each shoe also had multiple colorways, which allows you to choose from a variety of options based on your personal needs. I came in looking for a business casual shoe and unfortunately could not find any that fit my high arches (no fault to DSW). However, the options were plentiful for a standard, basic shoe. For statement pieces and more modern, trendy looks, I'd probably recommend you look somewhere else. But if a basic heel or sneaker is what you need, stop by!

Gary Gribble's Running Sports is the ONLY place that I would ever go to purchase running shoes…read more They have two locations in Kansas City; I always find myself at the Ward Parkway Mall location when I need new running shoes and/or socks! They have an excellent selection of different types of running shoes for different types of feet. No matter how much you run or walk or how well you run or walk the knowledgeable staff here will work with you to get you into the perfect shoe for your type of feet and your style of running/walking. They even have a small track inside the store for you to run/walk around to simulate your new running shoe experience! I am by no means a great runner but I do try and this seems to cause a good amount of wear and tear on my socks and shoes. Seeing that it is 2017, I wanted to make some resolutions and an increase in running was one of them. The people that work at Gary Gribble's were great at finding a perfect shoe for my needs, running type, and foot type; they even watch your walking/running gait to make sure that they get you in a perfect shoe! The prices are not cheap but when it comes to running shoes that is not something I would want to skimp my money on; you need to take care of your feet if you are going to be running and Gary Gribble's sets the gold standard for doing so. They also sell many different accessories for more serious runners and/or marathoners; i.e. clothing, supplements, etc. Lastly, this business has given a great deal of support to the Kansas City running/marathoning community for decades! I love my new running shoes and they are so comfy and fit so well that when I put them on I want to go for a run right away!

I admit I do enjoy the experience! I understand this isn't for everybody and I also realize some folks would feel they may not get the same treatment. I think that's something important to acknowledge in reality and something I hope Von Maur takes very seriously. I did note that they offer an interest free card and that is incredible and unheard of these days! I didn't think to look but I really hope they offer a layaway plan as well. And hopefully for a very small fee since some folks may not qualify for credit but would still like to buy a nice gift for someone. I absolutely signed up for the interest free card. This is very smart of this company because they will get your business but not charge you absorbent interest! Refreshing! I did enjoy my couple of hours there. Not being from the Midwest, I had never heard of Von Maur but I wondered in because I was curious!. It's very lovely and they had decorated for the holidays. Unfortunately, I did not see a live piano player on the first floor but the piano was there and they had lovely piano music throughout the store. They have numerous departments with many fine offerings in apparel, cosmetics, accessories, and more. I didn't see any home goods which I would have enjoyed as well but it's not a huge store. I'm not sure if that's offered at any other location but maybe 1 day, it'll be added. I also wish they had a larger selection of petites but at least they have that section! Let's talk about price... There are a lot of mid range (nice but not outrageous) designer brands. You can easily spend over $100 on a pair of jeans or $200 on a dress or coat. BUT, they also have sales (I saw a lot of 30% off on some brands) and they have sale racks with markdowns. By wondering around I figured out there's 2 levels of sales racks. One is a first mark down. Here you'll find the $160 jeans for $80-$125 (as an example), but there's also a second section of mark down racks in the departments (usually 2-3 racks) with a second mark down. Here I found a $120 dress for $35 as an example. I think while it's definitely a more expensive, luxury brand place, there are some more budget friendly options. Everything I bought that night was on sale. AND I found a pen mark on a dress I really wanted that was on double mark down. The incredibly nice sales lady in the department walked the dress all the way upstairs to the alterations department and they all tried to get the mark out for me. She was equally attentive to me as a customer buying a $35 dress as one that cost $200. Even when she could not get the mark out, she helped me decide on another one from the sales rack that was also $35. I really loved that and when I need that $200 dress, I'll go back to Von Maur and when I want to have fun buying a few super sale dresses, pants, etc, I'll also go back to Von Maur because they valued me no matter what my budget was that night! I wish I had gotten her name. Just in case, she was around 5'3-5'4, shoulder length blonde hair, and was wearing a cute set from the store which I want to go back and get now. lol she was working in the downstairs juniors and women's department area on the night of 11/29/25. She is great! Make sure you treat her well! All the sales associates I encountered were terrific. Another one helped me open my interest free card. We closed down the store that night but were never made to feel as if we had to rush out even though we were respectful and paid and left right after they closed. Go visit this MidWest (established in Iowa) department store! I know I'll be going back and hopefully update with some pics!
