My shoes have to actually help my feet as I go about my day, and The Foot Spot has helpful employees and a nice selection of shoes for people who realize that good shoes may be an expensive investment, but they're worth it in the long run. For my running & walking shoes, I wear Brooks or Asics. I don't believe those brands are available here, but the store Elite Feet has them and they're easy to find online too. For summer shoes and special occasion shoes I like Foot Spot's selection the best. They have brands like Vionic, Tape, Wolky, and Finn, to name just a few. Most of them are still pretty to look at and not screaming 'I have problem feet that are hard to fit so I have to wear these butt ugly shoes' like used to be the case. There are many choices for men & women here. You probably won't find anything less than $60 and they can go upwards of $200 or more, but they do have a sale room filled with lots of great deals- I scored some darling New Balance rose gold sandals for only $27!! The place…read morewhere you walk in and lose yourself for a few hours wondering around to different departments, up and down the escalator and in each place encountering a dressed up sales person ready to help you in any way. I admit I do enjoy the experience! I understand this isn't for everybody and I also realize some folks would feel they may not get the same treatment. I think that's something important to acknowledge in reality and something I hope Von Maur takes very seriously. I did note that they offer an interest free card and that is incredible and unheard of these days! I didn't think to look but I really hope they offer a layaway plan as well. And hopefully for a very small fee since some folks may not qualify for credit but would still like to buy a nice gift for someone. I absolutely signed up for the interest free card. This is very smart of this company because they will get your business but not charge you absorbent interest! Refreshing! I did enjoy my couple of hours there. Not being from the Midwest, I had never heard of Von Maur but I wondered in because I was curious!. It's very lovely and they had decorated for the holidays. Unfortunately, I did not see a live piano player on the first floor but the piano was there and they had lovely piano music throughout the store. They have numerous departments with many fine offerings in apparel, cosmetics, accessories, and more. I didn't see any home goods which I would have enjoyed as well but it's not a huge store. I'm not sure if that's offered at any other location but maybe 1 day, it'll be added. I also wish they had a larger selection of petites but at least they have that section! Let's talk about price... There are a lot of mid range (nice but not outrageous) designer brands. You can easily spend over $100 on a pair of jeans or $200 on a dress or coat. BUT, they also have sales (I saw a lot of 30% off on some brands) and they have sale racks with markdowns. By wondering around I figured out there's 2 levels of sales racks. One is a first mark down. Here you'll find the $160 jeans for $80-$125 (as an example), but there's also a second section of mark down racks in the departments (usually 2-3 racks) with a second mark down. Here I found a $120 dress for $35 as an example. I think while it's definitely a more expensive, luxury brand place, there are some more budget friendly options. Everything I bought that night was on sale. AND I found a pen mark on a dress I really wanted that was on double mark down. The incredibly nice sales lady in the department walked the dress all the way upstairs to the alterations department and they all tried to get the mark out for me. She was equally attentive to me as a customer buying a $35 dress as one that cost $200. Even when she could not get the mark out, she helped me decide on another one from the sales rack that was also $35. I really loved that and when I need that $200 dress, I'll go back to Von Maur and when I want to have fun buying a few super sale dresses, pants, etc, I'll also go back to Von Maur because they valued me no matter what my budget was that night! I wish I had gotten her name. Just in case, she was around 5'3-5'4, shoulder length blonde hair, and was wearing a cute set from the store which I want to go back and get now. lol she was working in the downstairs juniors and women's department area on the night of 11/29/25. She is great! Make sure you treat her well! All the sales associates I encountered were terrific. Another one helped me open my interest free card. We closed down the store that night but were never made to feel as if we had to rush out even though we were respectful and paid and left right after they closed. Go visit this MidWest (established in Iowa) department store! I know I'll be going back and hopefully update with some pics!

It's totally one part corporate, crisp, functional retail goods store, and another part taxidermy animals, rides, fudge, and hunting & fishing gear like you'd find at Bass Pro. We took our kids here on a winter break, gray day and it was a lot of fun. First off, there's a mini aquarium when you walk in -- it's nothing to write home about, but it gets the kids attention and they realize right away this is a fun store. From there, you can't miss the gigantic ferris wheel in the middle of the store. Gonna be real, it's fun and worth the wait but also a bit nerve wracking. Something is just odd about quietly swaying at the top of a department store quietly for such a long time. My daughter was like, "Dad, I'm scared to look down!" and all I could think was, "so am I, kid, so am I." We both agreed it's pretty fun once it gets going. There's also a little bowling area where you get five frames for a buck, and ditto to a little arcade game area as well. There's toy stores, outdoor goods, quality brands of clothes and outfitting, and really a nice answer to online shopping. In fact, it feels like malls used to feel in the 90's but a modern spin on everything. We did eat here but I'd say skip it. I didn't find anything I wanted and when I went to finish off my kids chicken tenders I was super underwhelmed and ended up pitching them. I will say at this time they carry Sylas & Maddy's ice cream (best IC in the city IMO) so that was a nice surprise treat. What more could you want if out shopping with the kids?! It's a great spot to kill a quiet afternoon.

I was told that Gary Gribble Running Store is one of the better specialty running stores in the greater Kansas City area. And so, it was nice to do a 2 for one stop shop here and picked up a pair of new running shoes to kick off the new year of racing and running. Gary Gribble Running store seemed to be like any other running store from the outset, but the knowledge of the staff here of running and shoe mechanics can help you get into your best shoes and give you that confidence to start yourself on a healthy path to fitness or racing. Most of their inventory are running shoes, but they sell other running related items, such as clothing, running accessories, and items that are need during a running event- like GU and body glide, among other items. Gary Gribble Running Sports can be your next stop for running shoes, if you're in the Overland Park, Kansas area. For myself though, I actually stumbled upon a sale and got those aforementioned shoes at a 20% discount, which was amazing!! I had a 10% discount coupon for the yelp check in but couldn't combine it with my existing purchase. Oh well. Next time, I guess. The store itself was arranged neatly and you could find what you're looking for. I did enjoy the knowledgeable staff about shoes that I forgot about. They explained to me about running situations and issues that I've known for a while, but it's nice to get a refresher once in a while. They're the bestest! The overall experience here at Gary Gribble Running Sports was good, positive, and nice. It's always great to be in a running shoe store, probably because I run marathons and stuff like that. It's always nice to transition into new shoes for the next 500 miles of running. With that said, this Gary Gribble Running Sports store is located in the Ward Parkway shopping center in the heart of Overland Park, KS. It's address is 8600 Ward Parkway. They accept major credit cards, as well as cash for any purchase. Since they are inside the shopping mall, there is genuinely plenty of parking for you all to park. Not sure if Kansas City's public transportation comes through this area or not, but best bet would be to have your own rental car or have uber / lyft app on your phone for quick and easy access for on demand rides. For the most part though, I was satisfied with my purchase and got a 20% discount too. It was around the price range I was looking for - after the discount. If you are looking to start a fitness program for your health, starting that couch to 5km program, or even half marathon or marathon training, consider coming to the Gary Gribble running sports here in Overland Park to discuss your running goals and they can get you into that comfortable training shoes to get you started on the path to a healthy and inspirational success. The service was friendly and nice. I could see myself coming back here for more shoes, if my travels permit me to do so. For the most part though, the experience here was memorable and I was happy with my purchase, especially with my friends whom were also trying to get new shoes as well that day. I would recommend coming here for your next pair of running shoes. If you don't know what you need, ask the knowledgeable staff of your goals and they can fit you into that pair of shoes that is designed to take you where you want to go. I enjoyed my time here on a Saturday afternoon here and hope you will too. It's like being a kid in the candy store for me. Truly is. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 5.0 stars for the 20% discount. 4.0 stars for the service and the experience. Support local! B
