Eyebrows not on fleek? Go see Rubi! Ok, all outdated pop culture references aside, Rubi has worked some serious magic on my brows. On my first visit, she formed a "treatment plan" for me, pointing out areas that I needed to let grow out and recommending a semi-permanent tint to help some of my invisible blonde hairs pop a little more. She gave my brows a nice shape and even filled them in for me. I've been back twice, and they just keep getting better. After reading all of the positive reviews, I felt comfortable about trying Rubi. In the past, I've stayed loyal to my eyebrow specialists. I have been getting my eyebrows done for 6+ years and in that time I've only gone to two places. I am so happy I found Rubi. My eyebrows were already in somewhat good shape so I didn't give her too much to work with but I have noticed the difference since I've been going to her, in just two visits. I've gotten compliments on them and I have Rubi to thank. I should also add that prior to going to Rubi I would get my eyebrows done once a month but now I feel I can go an extra month without - I just tweeze stray hairs. Caution to all the ladies considering in trying her, make sure to book in advance. She is usually not available until two months out of the date you are booking. Ruby does really great eyebrows - i will say. She knows exactly how to line things up and helps you grow out where you need to. The reason for the lower rating is because her customer service is not that great. I had gone to her 3 times and every time she would say "this is your first time seeing me right?" Well no. I understand she sees a lot of people a day but it is important to remember your clients. Plus it is hard to get scheduled with her. You have to schedule a month in advance which is impossible for me and my schedule. Like I said - she does incredible eyebrows! I loved mine every time I went. I just prefer better customer service and an easier way to book. read more

I used to think I knew how to shape my own brows, being that I have pretty thick brows and have never been unhappy with the shape, but after Ruby waxed them, I was kinda blown away at how much better they looked, even without any brow filler. I think I had actually convinced myself I didn't need my brows waxed because I have had bad reactions to the wax--itchy welts that last for days and turn into cystic pimples. Not a good look. So after a few eyebrow waxes with her I decided to give the lip wax a try--that area is even more sensitive than my brow area. I had it done a week ago, and I did get a little sensitive, but I think it was just because I wasn't used to the feeling of a hairless lip (I've just been tweezing here and there) and today I feel completely normal. I also had her put eyelash clusters on me once when I was going out of town, and I got so many compliments! And it was great to not have to deal with mascara, plus they lasted two weeks. I loved them. I've referred several friends to her and they have pretty much all become regulars. I was nervous with one girl because she said she couldn't wax because her skin came off, but she took a chance and didn't even irritate. She also has done bridal makeup for another friend and it was lovely. I trust Ruby completely. read more

Let me first start by saying my eyebrows, previous to going to Rubi, were hacked and uneven from over tweezing when I was younger. Rubi is truly amazing!! She does amazing work, gives you great tips for maintenance in between visits and makes you very comfortable. I am usually very nervous to have my eyebrows done, but she uses make up to show you what she plans to take off vs. what she plans to leave, so you have a chance to make sure you like the shape before they're gone. read more

Today was my first appointment. It took some doing to get in to see Ruby. Totally worth the wait. I am a patient gal when it comes to "beauty." She is as nice as homemade pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving Day. I thought I knew my eyebrows. WRONG. Back in the day, the style was to pluck-a-roo your brows and mine have had the same shape for YEARS. They are not horrible by any means. AND certainly they are not a tiny little line that you see on some females. WHICH hello looks AWFUL. So stop that crap ladies! Anyhoo, Ruby showed me the flaws of my brows and told me that they can be repaired. So totally yays for that! First, she waxed areas that needed it and then tinted. I let her select the tint color. She is the professional, not ME. Great choice. She also filled in my brows and they look amazing. I purchased the balm she used. She has her own line. Awesome! Instead of using the grocery store product that was an option, I am buying a product she is ordering for me to assist with my brows growing back in. A brow journey I am about to embark on and totally excited for this one! So there you have it and there it is. Ruby is super and very talented. I see her again next month. Rubi is amazingly good at what she does, HANDS DOWN! She seems to have the best technique out of the bunch of eyebrow ladies I've encountered so far. Since moving to H-town in 2010 I've been in search for the best place to get my eyebrows reshaped... I tried threading with a few Indian/Pakistani ladies, different Benefit Brow Bars and even the so called "brow queen" of h-town who charges an upwards of 40 for a "meh" effort and had me purchase her proprietary products. ;( every place I went, the ladies just opted to just follow my messed up brow shape by cleaning up around it! Sick and tired of the disappointment and desperately in need of a brow makeover.... I hit some review websites in search for "eyebrow reshaping" and found some promising reviews regarding Rubi's work and how she rehabs the brow back to its glorious state! So, I let my misshaped weird-looking brows grow out for about 3 months using castor oil on it religiously everyday then made an appointment for myself. Rubi was in transition from the Highland Knolls location to the new Washington Heights location so I decided to wait till she got there and go in for an appointment. First take of Rubi, she's a gorgeous, very soft spoken gal. She walked me through my brow dilemma and showed me how she was going to initially shape it with a few quick strokes of a white eyeliner pencil. The shape looked good so I gave her the go ahead. I was pleased with the end result for that day. Rubi explained that she had left some baby hair spots to grow out with the current shape and I should let it grow and come back for the follow up appointment in 3 weeks. This was about 2&1/2 weeks ago, and WOW I can already tell that the brow rehab is working so far. I was instructed to continue using castor oil on my brows in between visits and I have. I can't wait to see you for my follow up visit. OMG thanks to Rubi, my brows are finally starting to look flattering on my face. I got my brows done by Rubi several months ago and have been meaning to post a review. While she offered great advice on brow care and was very helpful at the time of my appointment--I can not stress how incredibly frustrated it was trying to simply get in contact with her. My best friend tried to call/text her a couple of times and gave up. I was so sure she was the answer to my brow prayers, so I kept trying. After days of attempting to call/text her, she finally responded--and the stress didn't stop there. Any questions I had before my appointment weren't answered in a timely fashion. It was unfortunate because after meeting her, I liked her. I spent around $40 on the appointment and still gave her a $20 tip. I figured after meeting me things would be easier. Wrong. I attempted to call her back after the appointment (a few weeks later) and after a few unanswered calls and texts, I gave up trying to contact her and took my money elsewhere. Pretty upsetting experience to say the least. I tried way too hard and that's just not something a customer should have to do. read more

Let me first say I hate my brows! They are awkwardly shaped and uneven. Most places try to "shape" them by taking off too much to even them out and I end up with overly thin lines not complimentary to my face shape. Additionally, I am sensitive to the wax and I almost always end up with scabs above and below the brow line that take days/week to heal. Rubi was the first to get it right! She measured and showed me what they should look like by drawing in with a makeup pencil. She was knowledgable and explained every step. Then she went to work and gently waxed what was needed - and not more. I am on the brow-rehab program now. :) I now have eyebrows that fit the shape of my face and look professionally defined. Rubi is terriffic at what she does and I am sold! She's a little more expensive than what I am accustomed to but it's worth every penny. No more hack-wax jobs for me. Thanks Rubi!! read more
