If there were a Hall of Fame for small fried seafood joints that never miss, Al's Seafood would…read morealready have a plaque, a laminated menu, and a line out the door - they already have a chalk menu, and during the summer, a wait for a table so we're almost there! This place is absurdly consistent. The portions are always generous, the quality is never caught lacking, and the dining room is spotless in that reassuring someone actually cares way. The staff (and it's always the same people that are there, which is cool in itself that there's no noticeable turnover in the staff) is friendly without being fake about it... efficient, pleasant, and clearly proud of what they're serving from fryers behind the soda fountains. Let's talk food, because wow. That's why you're reading this. The fried shrimp are so good that my wife (who does not like seafood) actively loves them. That alone should be printed on the menu. I've only known her to eat fried shrimp when the breading weighs more than the shrimp itself (which is not the case here). The tartar sauce is the best in North America. It's my crack. If I drank it through a straw (a bit too thick), that straw would be called a crack pipe. I literally smile writing about this tartar sauce. I will not be taking questions at this time. The "regular" fries are exactly what fries should be: crisp, fluffy, salty perfection. And the onion rings? Peak "fried seafood place" onion rings... golden, crunchy, and unapologetically doing their job, not tempura style, but old school Weathervane "fried seafood style" onion rings that you can sub in instead of fries on plates/boats for a small upcharge. Even the bathrooms are clean, which sounds like a throwaway detail until you realize how rare that is and how much it says about the place. We love it so much that we'll happily drive 40 minutes each way to eat there - in winter - because that's what you do when a place never lets you down. And despite the sign saying Al's Seafood, we tell everyone it's called "Big Al's Seafood" Not because that's the name, but because that's the energy this place has... It's not trendy. It's not trying to reinvent anything. It's just awesome, every single time and honestly, that's harder to pull off than any gimmick. Signing off... keep it up, Big Al.

This was a nice changeup with casual comfort food. Think pizza, burgers and the like. The dining room is nice, open air out front with outside tables, a big bar and a fun surfer/beach theme. The hostess first tried to bring us to the far back corner of the restaurant and I knew we would not like feeling so isolated from the rest of the diners, so we asked if we could sit elsewhere, and she was quite agreeable. I had my eye on their Mai Tai with a honey foam top, which brought me right back to Hawaii where MonkeyPod restaurant does a similar rendition with a lilikoi foam topping. Point Break served a tasty and potent version. We didn't order apps, but my Mac & Cheese was very good. Seemed that everybody was very happy with their food as well. Fried haddock, pulled pork and a nice salad. Our server was great, and quickly handled one mistake (a full dinner was served instead of a sandwich, and so he brought out the fries which came with the sandwich). Perhaps the only real negative is parking, which is tricky at the south end of Hampton Beach. There is plenty of resident parking nearby, but otherwise you might have to walk a bit to get to a paid parking spot or lot. Give them a try! We don't visit this part of the beach often and rarely for dinner, but we might make an exception to try this spot again.

After a great day out at the beach, I went with friends to Brown's and we had a blast! This is a…read moregreat place for a large group, with plenty of seating inside looking out over the marsh. Fortunately my friends are regulars and knew the drill: there are separate lines where you order lobster rolls and the like, another for fried options, and if you want a steamed lobster like I did, you go inside and talk to the guy at the counter who will get that all set up for you. You then get numbers (mine was on a cute wooden lobster-claw shaped paddle) and listen over the din for your number to be called out, and then you go pick up what you ordered. So it is a bit chaotic, but hey, it's summah in New England and this is what you should expect at a casual seafood joint! We got lucky on a Friday night and I think we must have missed the earlier crowds, because we had no problem snagging two tables for our large party and things were thinning out by the time we left, which was close to their closing time of 9pm. Food is ready at different times depending on what you've ordered, so don't expect a restaurant-style sit-down. The lobstah guy set me up with a nice one-and-a-quarter pounder (pro tip: this is really the best size; larger generally means tougher and less sweet, and this baby was steamed up perfectly). All I needed with that was butter and lemon, and I also ordered a side of corn on the cob and coleslaw--also delicious, as it's very fresh and not overdressed. Other great stuff at our table: fried clam strips, steamers, fried scallops (I'd never had those before; yum), and fish and chips. All huge portions, by the way, and there was plenty for sharing. There are a ton of options here at Brown's! Oh, and it's BYOB if you want alcohol (we brought in a pretty big cooler and our own cups), though they do have sodas and other nonalcoholic drinks to choose from.

Food was pricey though and didnt really stand out for me. Chowder was a bit too thick, lobster roll was just okay; ordered baked fish too but had a lot of batter but taste was okay as well. perhaps a bit bland so you may have to season it yourself.
