I was too scared to try the deep fried peanut butter and jelly French toast. I had the biscuits and gravy this place is really good.

Was searching for a brunch location today in Owensboro and came across Dee's Diner. Arrived via Google Maps and found ample parking. Entered Dee's and was told in a casual yet friendly manner "to take a seat anywhere". We took a table by the window and were quickly met by our server, taking drink orders and giving us menus. The menu is pretty big and loaded with delicious sounding breakfast and lunch items--all American fare! We settled on simple egg breakfast plates -- eggs, hashbrowns, toast; eggs, sausage, biscuit/gravy. All were very well prepared and with perfect seasoning -- even the gravy! Overall great experience with attentive service--we will be back. read more

We always try to find The best place to eat breakfast when we visit a city. We were in town for the GeoWoodstock event and found Dee's. We may have eaten there twice while in town. The service is great. The food is delicious and the prices are incredibly low. We both were stuffed for under $20! Be aware of the large pancake. It's literally larger than the plate!! Just okay. Wanted it to be better than it was, but the food is average at best. Service was excellent, and prices were reasonable.

We came back again and I wanted to document some updates. First of all, make sure to get the nacho cheese sticks - basically deep fried nacho cheese breaded with crushed tortilla chips. These might be the most innovative thing since text messaging. Second, we tried the breakfast... as appetizers (this group loves to eat) and it was a success. We loved it. I still warn against the chopped mutton [paste], but most of the other BBQ is tasty. read more

It's a diner. It's humble and sometimes crowded with regulars but the food is basic snd good. It's a great breakfast. Service is well they just yank their few servers around like the tail on a dog. I went there because the have cornbread hash. It was very good. Wife had a omelet which was mostly cheese. The only down fall cleanliness.. including the 1950 curtains that haven't been straighten since 1960. With the 5 people standing around and talking, you would think someone would take the initiative. This is our 2nd trip for the Best Breakfast in Owensboro! Sometimes you just want to eat a southern stick to your ribs kind of breakfast that fills your belly plum full. This IS that place. Pancakes, omelets and hash browns are extra large portions. Fresh, hot and quickly served that tastes great all with an economical price. Open Daily 5am - 2pm. Only the morning/lunch crowd is served and their famous breakfast is served the entire time. Don't let the ragged front sign discourage you, this place is good. read more

I realize that Sunday's are busy and the 35 min wait for the three people ahead seemed a bit long but after we placed our order I asked the waittress about the 1 hour and ten minute delay in getting our food and she said that our order was sent to the kitchen at such-and-such a time, which was 42 minutes after we gave it to her. I had an appointment after breakfast so I was time conscientious. Then, we did not get our food for another 39 minutes and the waitress was very nasty about it. All that was ordered was one omelet, not a gourmet meal! Not so sure this is the place for you unless you have three hours to kill for breakfast. read more

Dee's was a hit and a miss for us. My traveling companion ordered the pork barbecue and it was...almost okay. I don't know what wood they're using to smoke with, but it definitely isn't my top choice. The meat was dry and chewy and sauce didn't help much. I'd avoid it. On the other hand, I had a long and (ultimately very) helpful chat with the waitress who recommended the meatloaf (I don't eat meatloaf; too many childhood flashbacks), and then the chicken fried steak. I went with the chicken fried steak, and it was fantastic. As was the squash casserole she insisted I try. The chicken fried steak had the requisite crispy outside, and the steak itself was tender and flavorful. The squash casserole was an unexpected treat. They make it with fresh summer squash, sour cream, ritz crackers, and some kind of secret cheesiness that I couldn't figure out. I think the moral to the story is this: If your waitress at a barbecue joint recommends everything except the barbecue, listen to her. read more

Do not mistake this as a bbq joint, I believe that must be an old name. It is a traditional diner with low prices and huge portions. I've been there a couple of times but have only had breakfast fares. This is a traditional country diner, so don't expect anything fancy. The servers have always been friendly. read more

Worst place in town Honestly if I could give this place 0 stars I would; went in with a couple of friends and the waitress got our order wrong. On top of that there was cigarette ashes on the plates like someone had got ashes in our food and just blew them off. Great southern fried cooking! Their potato salad and BLT's are amazing. They close at 2 so it's a perfect spot for breakfast and brunch. They have a bigger room in the back which is perfect for groups. So if your in Owensboro, definitely check them out. read more
