Perusing the menu a few days prior to my reservation, I knew I was going to be in for a treat. If you take a look at just the cocktail list alone, you will realize this is a unique place. While Greenwood had great drinks, Deer Park's cocktails are amazing. I had the Last Word and Mezcal Negroni. Both were well balanced and served in the proper glassware. If you prefer wine, you will find a nice selection to choose from. Our feast: Roasted carrots - they were the perfect consistency of tender and firm, served with delicious orange and vanilla reduction Endive Waldorf - modern Waldorf, with pickled celery pieces; I had some leftover and it was wonderful even the next day Branzino - tender white fish cooked nicely Sundae and a Chocolate mousse - both deserts were nice but the mousse was superior Service: We were greeted by lovely ladies at the host stand. Our waiter Austin was friendly, prompt, and provided informed recommendations. The valet is a nice touch, as parking around the restaurant is limited. We will be back for more

We had a reservation at 5PM and from the moment we walked through the doors, we knew this was going to be a memorable evening. Deere Park is a stunning transformation of what was formerly Greenwood American Kitchen. The building itself is a piece of architectural art--outside, it features striking modern elements with raw concrete, clean hard lines, and beautiful natural timber that give it a minimalist yet grounded presence. Step inside, and the contrast is just as impressive. The interior softens into a refined palette of greens, browns, and greys that create a calming, intimate space perfect for a slow evening of good food and even better conversation. Now, I almost don't want to share this pro tip--but here it is: our favorite spot is the cozy high-top that seats two. It's perfect for date night or celebrating a special occasion. Tucked in with a panoramic view of the beautifully designed dining room, just steps from the bar, it's the ideal perch to enjoy the vibe and get a little lost in your own world. A special shoutout to Omar, who made our first visit to Deere Park absolutely unforgettable. From the moment he greeted us, it felt like a favorite uncle welcoming you into his home. He was incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and attentive--guiding us through the updated menu and offering thoughtful recommendations. My wife loved the fennel chicken, which was aromatic and tender. I ordered the seared tuna, which was cooked perfectly and seasoned with precision. And the lobster dumplings? Phenomenal. A must-order dish. Dessert was the perfect closing note. The blackberry sorbet was bright, refreshing, and exactly what we needed to cleanse the palate. It's light, sweet, shareable, and a must-have--so save room. From the warm welcome at the hostess stand to the seamless service throughout dinner, the entire team at Deere Park impressed us. We're already looking forward to coming back--and next time, we're bringing our family and friends to experience this special place for themselves. Highwood, you've got something truly special here.

Went last night for an early Sunday dinner and had an amazing experience both food, wise and people watching! They have a special for the first hour and a half that they are open on Sunday where you can get four courses for $38 per person as long as you choose the same items. We got the artichoke appetizer, the endive salad, the salmon and the chocolate mousse. Everything was outstanding, except for the endive salad, which you have to love bitter lettuce to really enjoy. We will definitely be back.

We had an early reservation tonight. We decided to sit at the bar. Omar and Gio made us a couple of great cocktails. Hubby had Todd's martini and I had the spicy cosmo. The cocktail list is amazing. I will be sure to try them all. My cosmo was made with homemade cranberry juice. Spicy and fresh! Hubby and I shared the crab salad. It was light, fresh, with an Asian dressing. The chili's gave it a kick. Hubby had the halibut. It was cooked perfectly with a unique sauce and topped with arugula salad. I had the branzino. Again, cooked perfectly. Crisp skin, excellent chimichurri sauce, topped with pea tips salad. So good! We also had the fries. They are chunky cut crispy bits of heaven. So much to love about this new place in Highwood. We will definitely be back!!!!

Took the metra up from downtown Chicago and the journey was worth every minute! Our server Leo was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I started with a Hugo spritz which was refreshing and crisp while my brother got an IPA and my mom a glass of Sancerre. I wish we came with a larger group because every starter sounded delicious. The star of the show was the artichokes and the Branzino. Not pictured was the delicious burger that had these perfectly crisp but super thick cut fries. Great new neighborhood suburb spot that holds up to all the competitive city restaurants I am used to. Definitely will be making the journey up north more often just for Deere Park!

It was such a thoughtful touch that made our celebration feel extra special. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful with such a romantic atmosphere. It was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. Our server, Nathan, was exceptional. He was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. The manager also stopped by to check on us, which really showed how much they care about their guests. I've dined at much more expensive restaurants before, and I've honestly never experienced this level of hospitality. The food was incredible 10/10! Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The portions were generous, and I couldn't even finish my meal because there was so much delicious food. Overall, this was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. From the outstanding service to the beautiful ambiance and amazing food, everything exceeded our expectations. Thank you to Nathan and the entire team for making our anniversary so memorable. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience!

We came for an evening with friends and decided to take advantage of the Sunday "per la famiglia…read more(serves four)" special when we saw the menu. What looked like a generous offer of comfort food at a reasonable price, at a lovely Italian restaurant, was actually a gimmick worthy of Ebenezer Scrooge. Dinner started with a tasty chopped salad that would have been a reasonable entree for one or enough to share as an appetizer for two. It was a large spoonful each for four. The four garlic knots that accompanied the salad were each about 2x2x2 inches, and when we asked for a refill of both the salad and bread we were told "that's all you get." The spaghetti came with 2 meatballs in a portion size that looked like it was enough for an entree for only 1 person. We waited a moment and when no more came realized we were screwed. Later, seeing our disappointment, the waiter was kind enough to secretly get 2 more meatballs out of the kitchen for us to pretend there were portions for each person at the table. Had they been serving Italian tapas, maybe we could have pretended it was a fair approach. The 16 inch cheese pizza was good but nothing special and the tiramisu provided 4 small pieces a little larger than the garlic knots mentioned earlier when cut into squares. I don't know what kind of "famiglia" Salvatore "Sal" Lo Cascio, the culinary director at Ballyhoo Hospitality, or Ryan O'Donnell, the CEO, have; but they probably don't each very much. Perhaps they expect the famiglia of their guests to be a single parent with young children or a group of little persons. In short, the food tasted good, the dining room was lovely, the service was outstanding, and the portions and prices were a complete rip-off to the point that the place should be put out of business. With two iced teas, a glass of house wine, tax and a generous tip the bill came to well over $100 and this morning when checking the receipt for this review I found out that they charged us for the extra meatballs. Not very nice!

We had a party of seven, and they made sure to seat us all together without a problem. The restaurant was super clean, the food was delicious, and the prices were very fair. What really stood out, though, was the service. Our waitress was so kind and attentive, checking on us several times to make sure we had everything we needed. When she found out my son had just graduated, she said she would have given him a discount--but since he had already snuck off to the counter to pay, she gave him a coffee cup instead. We arrived very early at a random time, probably right after opening. Everyone was so nice and service was great. The table started with the cornbread, moist and warm. Not as sweet as I personally like (I can't help it I'm southern) but delicious nonetheless. The eggplant hummus wasn't that great to me, loved the bread it came with but I think I would prefer typical chickpea hummus instead. Brussels were so good, probably the favorite thing I tried. For my entree I had a kale salad with added salmon. I liked the crunch and the light vinaigrette. My husband had the seafood risotto which was slightly undercooked. All and all a positive experience and I'd definitely go back if I was in the area.

We ordered a whole bird with a side of roasted potatoes (Rosemary Reds) and greens beans - plus the mole and Clucker's style sauces - and the cornbread... we also added a side of Mac and Cheese. The chicken was perfectly moist with a solid rub that had a great smokiness and rosemary flavor. It paired BEAUTIFULLY with both sauces. The mole negro is a bit thicker than I'm used to, but is perfect for the chicken, it's most like a peanut sauce consistency. The Clucker's sauce, a play on a honey mustard, is closer to a chutney - spectacular. Potatoes were perfectly seasoned with some roasted onions, they weren't super crispy but I attribute that to delivery (they were still a 5/5). Green beans were nicely blanched and had a strong fresh garlic flavor. Mac and cheese is not baked and more gooey - I prefer that, although a lot of people (my wife included) prefer it baked. Cornbread was delightful, but I'd get the corn tortillas next time, especially with that mole. If I could rate this place above 5 stars, I would, and we had delivery! I can't speak to the ambiance. But when recently walked past there, it looks great inside and has a patio, and the food, just from looking at people's plates, was memorable. Do support this awesome establishment!
