Beermiscuous is a cute little place in Highwood with indoor and outdoor seating. The bar area has 16 taps of with beers from local breweries. I tried a fabulous raspberry wheat beer. You can get a large pour, or a sampler size. I was impressed with the coolers that were filled with a large selection of beers and ciders. All are from local breweries. So many to try. Beermiscous does not have food, but you may bring food in, and there are so many restaurants around the area. We sat outside when we visited. They have plenty of tables and umbrellas. There were a variety of people enjoying drafts and eating food they brought.

I have always wanted to stop in and check this place out and finally did so recently. All local-ish beers featured, a good number on tap, plenty in cans in the cooler, this is NOT a brewery; but they do feature and sell product from many breweries. The digital board tells you the tap menu. The labeling system for the cooler is color coded and pretty intuitive. The staff working are extremely knowledgable regarding their inventory and are more than happy to tell you anything you want to know. There are snacky type things for sale, or you can bring food with. There are plenty of board games to be had, seating is available inside (it's Chicago afterall); and an astro turf area available outside with good tunes provided free of charge. Close to the train, close to new apartment living options, this is a solid addition to the neighborhood.

Love this place! They specialize in local Chicagoland breweries. They offer 16 beers on tap from various breweries (they don't brew themselves). They also offer a huge selection of single can options in their coolers which you can drink in or take home. The take home pricing is $4 off the marked pricing in the cooler. Wednesday offers 1/2 flight specials which is a great way to sample what they have on tap at an affordable price. The staff is really nice and very knowledgeable. While they don't serve food (beyond chips) you can bring in food from other establishments to enjoy with their beer. Great taco place around the corner. Oh and sign up for their rewards program app and get money back.

Knowledgeable staff. Great games available for playing. Relaxing fun setting. Smaller but good selection to go. Indoor and outdoor seating.

There are lots of great places in Highwood to explore. I will add Beermiscuous to this list as well. I have been wanting to try Beermiscuous for a while but there has been a lot going on in the world. I finally was able to visit this past weekend when the weather has been much improved and indoor dining has re-opened. There's plenty of parking throughout Highwood, most of it on street. First, they have some great options for non-beer drinkers like cider and mead which I consider a plus because not everyone likes beer when venturing to beer establishments. They have a fairly extensive draft list and a very large amount of beer by the can as well. Beermiscuous totally felt like a cozy beer cafe where you could just chill out during an afternoon. I had the Proximal first which is a Rye Barrel Aged Barleywine, which was robust, and had some good barrel aging behind it. This is definitely one you savor in winter by a fire to warm up but anytime is a great time for Barleywine! My second beer of choice was Biggles Seizes the Means which is a Strong Ale actually made by Beermiscuous in Chicago, so I thought that was neat. It had a good amount of maltiness with some subtle notes of hops. I really enjoyed Beermiscuous and will be back in the future. I really enjoyed the Chicago beer timeline on the wall and counting how many different breweries in the Chicago area that I have visited over the years.

If you're looking for a quick beer/drink before grabbing dinner, I highly recommend Beermiscuous! Wide variety for anyone and everyone to find something to try out for the first time. It's fun to not only see what different breweries there are nearby, but to see the amazing artwork on the cans, as well! You can order food nearby and enjoy out on the patio (recommend the taco place across the street)

Great place with great music, great atmosphere, great sidewalk cafe, huge selection of brews. The owner is super helpful in making selections. Support local brewers and local shops and visit this gem.

Went here for the first time with my boyfriend the other day, I loved the atmosphere and the beer was excellent. We also got to take home a couple cans of beer. I loved the cafe style of the shop and I was glad that I got to go to a place that wasn't like your average bar or club, I was also happy that I could feel safe drinking alone while my bf went to his car or to the bathroom for a minute without worrying about getting hurt or being bothered.

So we came here on a random Friday night to test our luck to get a table at 7 o'clock for two people. We got lucky and got to sit inside because that's where we wanted to sit although they do have sidewalk or outdoor seating as well. I thought sitting inside would be cooler, but I was wrong as all the doors and windows were open and I don't believe the AC was on at all. Well, the menu is pretty extensive. I will say that a vegetarian could definitely eat here as well as anyone else. This is our first visit here and as you can tell from the photos ordered quite a bit of food. And typical top of style the portions are pretty small, but they are meant to be shared. It was actually too much food for two people who were already hungry. Some of the standouts were definitely the meatballs and the salad salads. The jamon iberico was absolutely incredible. Not pictured was the picture of sangria we ordered. We got the rosé and to be quite honest with all of the heat. It actually watered down way too quickly. And it also came in a plastic picture, which was a bit of a turn off. The shrimp with garlic was good, but the garlic was hard to taste because it was also covered or doused in a lot of tomato base or tomato sauce. I was really looking forward to a very clear buttery or olive oil sauce that was saturated with garlic. The mushrooms were OK as well, but again too much tomato in this dish that I'm not used to. The potatoes were also very tasty and well seasoned, and the sauce on it was just right. I think this is a good option for people who want top us in the suburbs however, I will say that I hope they do some tweaking to the recipes as well so that they have something that truly makes them stand out and unique.

So many on tap to choose from you could be here forever trying all these. A lot of these are different than most breweries have. The specialty here is the Saison which is a pretty unique style yet they have a whole bunch of varieties. Best use of an old brewery is putting in another one of course. It's in the former location of Urban Brew Labs. The main thing different is almost every beer they make is Saisons. A style a lot of people aren't putting as favorites. There's certain characteristics to it like being rustic and yeasty. It's about $7 a pint. The best one of these we had was the Will Be, the flagship Saison. If not wanting beer there's plenty of other alcohol. They make shrubs, which are cocktails made with herbs. Also there's some options without alcohol. They're covering a lot of bases it seems. For sure there's great variety even with it being mostly one style they're brewing. It's close to the Ravenswood Metra station. There's no food but sometimes they have food trucks.

The space itself is quite large, with spots to gather with different sized groups and even some ski ball and other arcade features to entertain. The server was quite friendly and provided us a brief history of the brand, as we were the only ones in the space on a rainy Thursday right when they opened. The beer selection leans toward various types of Saisons. It's definitely an acquired taste and not for everyone, but the ones we had were delicious! I'd recommend the Rustic Brown, as it had a bit of smoke and wasn't as funky as some of the other ones I tasted.

The service was genuinely friendly, and the ambiance gives off such a welcoming, cozy vibe. There's even a fireplace you can sit by during cold Chicago winters, which is a really nice touch. I sat at the bar, and the bartenders -- honestly, the entire staff -- were super personable. You can crack jokes and they'll play right along with you, which makes the whole experience feel relaxed and fun. I ordered the pulled pork skillet and it did not miss. They make your eggs however you want (within reason), and everything came out perfectly. While not the cheapest in town, the value is absolutely there given the quality of the beers and food -- prices feel totally reasonable for River North.
