On my most recent trip to the deer park Irish pub, there was a special treat in store for Xmas! Namely, Utz's pub mix. Utz has gone all out with this snack mix. While I'm not positive of the names of all of the components of this medley, I'll do my best to provide some commentary. First of all, the uniformity of snacks was fairly impressive. Each pour from the large container provided a fairly even mix of tasty morsels. The standout, in this authors humble opinion, is of course the rye chip. While bitter and a bit sour, it isn't as heavily seasoned as the mainstream ghardetto's brand. A hint of mustard is all these bad boys need to shine. I give the chips by themselves a D... for delicious!! There is also a small wheat puff cracker, that appears to be glazed in a small amount of sugar. It seems to be fairly bland, and is probably provided as a filler to contrast the rest of the delights in the mix. I'm no snack mix architect, but I feel that this may be a deliberate decision in order to highlight the standout components of this mix. There is also a puffed wheat spiral, which while different in shape appears to be meant to balance the mix as a whole. The pretzel component is crisp, lightly salted, with a hint of buttery glaze. Overall the staple of a good snack mix and builds a great foundation. They made the bold decision of including a sesame component, that also carries a semi sweet glaze. It provides just the right amount of savory to balance the mix, and Utz is spot on with this choice in my opinion. Similar in texture and appearance to the rye cracker, they have also included a wheat cracker seasoned in cheddar and herbs. While eliciting a similar delightful crunch as the rye cracker, it lends pretty hard to the savory and salty portion of the snack mix flavor wheel. I am grateful for its inclusion in this particular mix. While we are on the subject of cheddar, the wheat cheddar spirals lend much of the same profile, but mix up the mouth feel by providing almost no crunch. Another interesting call by the snack artisans at Utz. Last, but not least are these bizarre little balls of what I assume are puffed rice. While not a punch of flavor, they balance the equation out with a toasty aftertaste. All in all, I would consider myself fortunate to sample the snack mix at the deer park on Xmas day. I'd rat the mix itself highly, but I'm probably slightly skewed by the company provided by the staff and patrons at this fine establishment.

This place is a hidden gem. They have such a wide variety of beers, fantastic staff, and it's such a cool atmosphere. They have nights with live music and karaoke. Definitely make a trip on a Tuesday for tacos-they are DELICIOUS. (And fairly priced). The wine slushee is also a favorite. The outdoor patio area is dog friendly, and you can also bring your own pizzas if you want. (Although they do have tasty food like jalapeño poppers and cheese curds). Really, if you haven't been here, what are you even doing with your life??? CHECK IT OUT ASAP. you will have no regrets.

Best beer selection in the area. Staff are knowledgable about their beers, sours, etc., in stock. They have Guinness and Smithwick's on tap all the time. They also serve good coffee and tea if that's your thing. Often times they have live music with talented local musicians. Deer Park is also known for cool special events throughout the year.

Deer Park is nestled right next to the University of Saint Francis. I discovered this little pub during college when many of my friends attended school there. I love the atmosphere here. The owner is always energetic. It is literally a little room full of tables and a bar rail. Very intimate and you can see and hear everyone's conversations. Craft beer galore. Tons of craft beer in the bottles. Limited craft beer on tap. That's why I am giving it four stars. Wish they had a better selection to offer draft wise. I have enjoyed a few taco Tuesdays. $2 tacos. No, these are not anything special but hey they are $2. Karaoke is also a frequent occurrence. It doesn't get much better than pitchers of beer and karaoke on a thirsty Thursday. Deer Park puts on a great St. Patty's day. Tents outside. Tons of beer and it is just a great time. During warmer weather they also have a great little outdoor space...and we all love to enjoy a brew outside.

We went to go celebrate my husband's birthday and our server had too many tables because the service wasn't the best. She was okay but for their prices we shouldn't be waiting to get refills for a while. We received 3 of our 4 meals an hour after ordering. I ordered a pizza and I knew it takes 30 minutes but my entire family was done eating and I asked the server if it was almost done. She said the cooks didn't know. I'm going to guess it was never rang in. Because it was pushing 1.5 hrs and it wasn't close to being done? They were steady but I wouldn't say busy. They had plenty of staff on but our server had a lot of tables. We left and she took the pizza off and apologized but I don't think that's enough when one person leaves and doesn't get dinner. If the kitchen was behind, if the pizzas were taking longer, if the service wasn't going to be lacking "just be honest at the beginning". Honestly was truly disappointing and not a good visit.

I had the Mac & cheese & dill pickle fries for a quick lunch. The Mac & cheese was not very good to me; a bit flavorless overall. The dill pickle fries were good. The environment has a slightly industrial feel with just a hint of coziness, which gives it a modern but still comfortable vibe. I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel. It was alright -- nothing special, but given the size and volume of the place, I don't necessarily expect everything to be made completely fresh to order. It did the job. The service was also just alright. My interaction with the barista/bartender was brief and unfortunately a bit stale. She wasn't rude, just not particularly warm or memorable. Overall, it's a convenient place with a lot of options, but the experience itself was pretty average.

Dash In - historic downtown breakfast or lunch option…read more First off...Dash In won't appeal to everyone. The prices are a bit high compared to other places with similar food items. Parking may be a challenge depending on the time of day. And the dinning area is small. Dash In has been a downtown Fort Wayne eatery option for many years. They are located on Calhoun Street next to Pint & Slice and a couple blocks south of the court house. This restaurant has retained the vintage building feel. The interior brick and wood work are very attractive to go along with the more modern decor. The bar is very attractive. They have a very small street level outside patio if that is your preference. The shop is very small. I'm guessing the bar seats about 10 people. The main dinning area probably seats about 40. The team here is very friendly and welcoming. They hustle to serve. We went on a late Sunday afternoon and didn't not have to wait. I don't think they take reservations. There are lots of people coming and going with carry out orders. Today we had no problem finding a street parking spot. There is a parking garage nearby if no street spots are available. The menu is actually fairly broad. They have a special brunch menu along with a breakfast all day menu. There were several sandwiches and wraps available. A couple salads too. The coffee and alcoholic drink menus were very large. We didn't have either of these products this time so I can't give you any feedback on them. They have a special soup du jour and deli side selection. Today it was a mushroom arugula soup and caprese salad side. My wife loves breakfast and ordered a make-to-order omelette with a side of grilled vegetables. She really liked the light tasting eggs and fresh tasting vegetables. The tomato bisque soup is one of their staples. It is delicious and would be great with a grilled cheese sandwich from the menu. The soup was smooth and creamy. It had a gentle tomato flavor along with a more predominant milk/cream base. The soup surprisingly has a stronger spicy after taste - still outstandingly delicious! The side salad is very simple. It has a combination of fresh spring mix lettuce along with a minimal amount of onion, cheese and red pepper. The honey mustard dressing was smooth, creamy, thick and a bit spicy. It was mild on the honey/sweet taste while stronger on the mustard accent. The Italian panini sandwich was very good. The ciabatta bread was slightly grilled with a firmer exterior but not crunchy. The bread had a very freshly baked taste. The sandwich had a high quality tasting ham, pepperoni, salami and provolone cheese. The meats weren't piled high...but enough to get the flavor from each. The grilled onions and banana peppers gave the sandwich a nice zing. The pleasant aioli sauce moistened the sandwich and blended the spicy meats with the zippy onions and banana peppers. Overall the food quality was excellent yet a bit more costly than you might expect. The service was spot on and helped make it a pleasant dinning experience. The older building design, if you like that, adds to the overall experience. Give them a try!
