In my quest to becoming the reigning Cincinnati coffee house guru, my journey brought me to Deeper Roots today. I've had their coffee through other vendors before, but my goal was to try a signature drink. I went with the Citrus Rosemary Nitro. Let's not sidestep it: this drink has a super unconventional taste... the nitrogenation makes it bubbly with an orangey bite: quite incomparable to any drink I've had lately. Rosemary in a coffee drink is already a bit bold: so the mix of all these tastes and sensations is a unique, yet pleasant, experience. They have a front and a back room, but not much seating in general. If you can snag a spot it'd be a fun place to study (although not a quiet one). If you're at Findlay Market I'd highly recommend stopping in across the east edge over Race St. P.S. The Findlay Market lot is free for the first hour during weekdays and there is metered parking on Race street directly in front of the building. read more

We are visiting our son in Cincy & craved some local coffee. How fun to pop into Deeper Roots & be pleasantly surprised by some mighty fine coffee. I ordered a hot "Maple & Orange" latte. The taste of the maple & orange & espresso created a beautiful 3-way balance in my mouth. It seriously was more than excellent. My wife got plain coffee & even that excelled. This sexy little coffee shop recently opened up near Findlay Market and I had the pleasure of popping in during a event work trip in Cincy. The space is slender and goes back further than it appears when you enter. The first room reminded me of Scandinavian architecture with its abundance of natural light and simplistic decor and furniture. The menu is also fairly simple with craft coffee beverages, a few light snacks like jumbo cookies ($3.50) and kombucha on tap. This is one of those businesses that doesn't need a huge menu, they choose to master what they offer rather than dabbling in everything. My only reason for giving this business four stars was that five minutes after we paid for our drinks and snacks and sat down, the barista came out and told us that they were closed. I thought it was odd that she failed to mention they were closing when we ordered our drinks to stay and settled in. read more

I stopped here while wondering the area in need of a pick me up. The interior is modern and minimalistic but very pleasant. There was seating but it's not the biggest café so I'd keep that in mind if you're looking for somewhere to sit for a while. I got a mocha to go for $4, pretty average price. The service was fast and the mocha was nice, I did feel the need to add a bit of sugar but it was lovely with a good full taste! My family and I were driving around downtown Cincy and I had to use a restroom. We stopped over by Findlay Market assuming there had to be a restroom there somewhere. My cousin ran in with me. For some weird reason, I started getting a craving for hot chocolate. We briefly perused the market and couldn't see anything. As we were walking back to the car, my eyes spotted Deeper Roots. We went to our family and asked "Who wants hot chocolate?!" and we soon headed in for a sweet treat. When we got in, I really liked the vibe of this place. It's pretty small, locally owned but has an elevated aesthetic. I'm sure it's a place many folks hang out at to get work done as they sip on their coffee. Within minutes, I saw an option for a hot apple cider and I started to change my mind. The gentleman working offered to make me one just to test it. I took one sip and was sold! It was sooo good! Warm, sweet apple cider with a hint of spice. He also started to make the hot chocolates for my family. I took one sip of that as well and to be honest, I really wanted both! It was extremely creamy, rich and the perfect amount of chocolate sweetness. When we took the drinks out to our family in the car, they call agreed that the hot chocolate and cider were very good! Deeper Roots Coffee is a cool and chill coffee shop. I had a meeting here one day and while I was waiting I decided to get a scone and some Horchata. The guy working was super nice and helpful. I love Horchata so when I saw this on the menu I was super excited. They make it with Almond Milk, so it was a healthy version. I also got their Tomato, Cheese and Herb Scone. The Horchata was pretty good. It tasted healthy but had the flavors of regular Horchata. The scone was very delicious. The flavor was very good and the scone itself was tender and moist. It still had the texture of a scone but it wasn't as dry as some can be. It was very tasty. I didn't think tomato, cheese, and herb would be good but it was. Overall, Deeper Roots is a place for a meeting and has yummy pastries and drinks. read more

Another Sunday, another coffee shop to explore, went for breakfast after workout in the green at washing park and no regreses it was outstanding. The decor was hipster and trendy, it was also full but since the spot it's spacious it doesn't feel overcrowded. I love how the have that space in the back as well, it sort of feels like your having coffee at home. We ordered a cappuccino with almond milk which was to die to, it smaller than most cappuccinos Alice had around the area but every sip was heaven. Very strong tasty coffee. We also got the nitro coffee, which was lovely. I've only had nitro at one other place and this one was better by far. One thing I didn't not like was the croissant we ordered, it didn't tasted fresh. Lastly, the staff was friendly and helpful, I would suggest you add it to your list. read more

Eh. I probably wouldn't come back again but it was okay. My friends and I stopped in on a Saturday morning to get some coffee. The space is very small and the setup is super awkward. The cash register is on a counter that is also comprised of seating. When we first arrived, we couldn't find any employees so we were very confused about what was going on. When the one employee working showed back up, you could tell she was really busting her tail to do the best she could but she was apparently the only person there that day. Everything took a really long time. The coffee was fine but it wasn't anything special. Prices were average for a hipster coffee shop. They didn't have enough seating options for our group to stay so we took our drinks to go which was also a bit disappointing. Overall, a super underwhelming experience but three stars because the girl working there alone was trying her best! read more

Holy Cow. The cinnamon rolls here are incredible. They are flaky like a croissant and on the bottom they have a caramelized hardened glaze that is so good. I went here on a Saturday morning, grabbed a macadamia milk latte and a cinnamon roll. The line to enter the store starts outdoors due to covid, they wipe the monitor after you complete your payment and only one person/ family is allowed in at the same time. I had an excellent experience and I will be back for more cinnamon rolls! read more

I TOTES agree with Dave M "the layout is a bit confusing. It take a second to get your bearings, as it feels like you're walking into someone's kitchen." This does feel weird at first and then you're like OH! Hi, yes this is where you order, and the back or at the community table is where you sit. Other than that, I think Deeper Roots has done a great job at branding themselves throughout the city as a minimalist cafe focusing on quality and good conversation around coffee. This new location is no exception. Beautiful natural light, and super friendly service. I opted for a mint green tea - it was extremely strong and fresh. My counterpart got a ginger latte. I REALLY loved that they had a section for signature coffee drinks. I'm coming back for that rosemary nitro iced coffee - as they make the rosemary syrup in house. A much welcomed additional to the Findlay Market area. It has always been tough to get a great cup of coffee North of Liberty, but not anymore. Deeper Roots has built out a beautiful cafe that serves great coffee. Upon walking in, the layout is a bit confusing. It take a second to get your bearings, as it feels like you're walking into someone's kitchen. I think this design was intentional, meant to blur the lines between the baristas and the customers, inviting the customer a bit deeper into the coffee experience. But, don't worry, through the back hallway, you'll find more traditional cafe seating. They also have some seating outside as well. Highly recommend stopping by for a great coffee experience. read more

I can't help but mention right from the start that the barista, Johannes, was calm and inviting. Not only did he make great art, he asked what beans to grind for my cappuccino. Perfect. Superb. Stellar. I did not realize that Deeper Roots could get better! This new Deeper Roots Coffee is right across from Findlay Market and right next to the Epicurean Mercantile shop. So basically it's the perfect setup for a Saturday or Sunday morning! The music is on par with some alternative/indie tunes. It really sets the mood for relaxing, studying, chatting, pretty much the usual in coffee shops. They have a really good set up going on here as well! I walked in and there is a counter right at the front with a couple seats. You walk to the other end of the cabinet to order (just look for the iPad) and there you have your option of a couple delicious and unique drinks. What's even better is the back room, where there are a couple of seats that probably fits about 10-12 people, but is very comfortable. Today I tried the ginger spice latte with macadamia milk and man was it tasty! They make their spice syrup in house, so nothing artificial here. It does have a sweetness to it, but it's subtle and delicious. There are a few pastry options too, so don't worry about going hungry! read more

Love this downtown location! There is great and quiet space to sit. I posted up here for a few hours to get some work done. Their coffee is great- but today I branched out and tried something from the tap! The sparkling, citrus green tea was perfect for a warm day. If you like seltzers/ lacroix type drinks, you'd love it! The overwhelming flavor is green tea, keeping the caffeine intake high, haha! The crazy contraption used to make your drink looks part mad scientist machine mixed with a Steampunk's creative musings. Either way, it is perfectly designed to make excellent coffee drinks. Side note, it is made right here in the good 'ol USA. I've been here a few times and while there is a small bit of coffee pretentiousness present, it is quickly cast aside by the chill vibes the barista extraordinaires exude. The coffee menu varies by season and availability so your favorite drink might be missing on the next visit. Really good coffee bar in the heart of the "Over-The-Rhine" district of Cincinnati, just steps away from the streetcar and the market. This roastery definitely to discerning coffee drinkers: the beans are the focus of almost every drink, although they do have a few "foo-foo" drinks. Their pour-over selection is excellent; they offer at least three different beans every day. The baristas do a great job of making each cup perfectly as well; this is one of the better cups of coffee I've had anywhere. They actually have a lot of space (contrary to what a few other reviews say), you just have to walk around the corner into the back part of the shop, where you'll find a lot of tables and a few (clean) bathrooms. Easily one of the best coffee shops in Cincinnati. I got an iced caramel latte but they used Mexican caramel instead which has goats milk in it and I was pleasantly surprised. The Mexican caramel wasn't overly sweet and the latte had a very nice mellow flavor and a good balance of flavors. The store is also conveniently placed right next to Findlay Market.
