Some good things to enjoy about this place, but some negatives unfortunately over-shadowed it. I would give this a solid 3/5. Food is not bad, but didn't blow us away. They price it as food that should blow you away. Very pricey. Tight restaurant with close-quarters. If you are sat next to some loud parties, good luck. I have listed some pros and cons below. Pros: They know how to cook seafood really well! The lobster in the lobster mac and my grouper in my salad were perfectly cooked and tasted great. Waitresses are nice too. We had Kelly and she treated us very well. Cons: Supermarket sliced bread is served while you wait. When entrees are $20+, you think the bread would be a bit nicer. If you are thinking about ordering the Lobster Mac, do yourself a favor and get the Lobster with anything else. The mac n' cheese was so watery and all you can taste is butter. No cheese. It was like a butter pasta soup with yellow food coloring and great lobster. The portions are a bit small for the price point. Ingredient quality is not worth what we payed for. This place is as good as the millions (ok maybe not millions) of reviews you'll read on here. The hype is real, the reviews lower than 4 stars were freak accidents or ploys from competitors, and the fish is as fresh as they say. Is it the best seafood restaurant on the face of the planet? Answer: It doesn't have to be, it's absolutely doing things right and they are one of the few seafood places down in FL that can say that. Not pretentious but absolutely elite when it comes to seafood quality and selection when price is considered. It's a steal, and that's coming from a budget eater! (Ok maybe not budget) I got a delicious LOCAL IPA (take notes other places) and I promptly ordered oyster Rockefeller (I love this version of oysters and try them most places I see them). They arrived quickly (the server by the way was charming and polite). The oysters are good, 5 come in an order and they have bacon. These are very good, kind of cheated by adding the bacon but I've never complained but still cheating a bit! These are very tasty, almost makes you want to ask for the recipe! Haha I've had better versions without bacon but these rank up there on the list. I ordered for the captains platter blackened, that's grouper, shrimp and scallops with two sides I had potato Salad and green beans. Wow are those green beans amazing! Local they say, well frankly I need to know where they got'em because it would be awesome to get these on my dinner plate at home, they were so fresh and were seasoned perfectly. If I came back I'd get them again. Potato salad was yummy too. Grouper was cooked so well, props to the kitchen, shrimp was succulent as always and scallops were almost the show stealers! Juicy and fresh ate two words that run through your mind the whole time you're chomping down on this dish. Finally, for dessert I ordered Keylime pie which comes served chilled with what seems to be real whipped cream. It's very, very delicious open parenthesesI realize this is becoming a pattern here, the food is good, I get it). I could've easily eat two more slices but I am not a rich man. The total bill was $70, $82 with tip included. It's priced right around average, the quality I would say is up there with higher priced establishments. That's the upside. Driest piece of fish I have ever tried to eat. I got my hogfish blackened at the server's recommendation and my husband got his sautéed. His was at least edible. Both our baked potatoes had huge black spots in them and my broccoli was definitely frozen although they didn't overcook that. I told the server who was very nice that the fish was bone dry and she offered to bring a sauce so I could choke it down. No thanks. So I only ate two bites. Nothing but good things to say about this place. Jody, our server, was super friendly and had great recommendations. We ordered the gator bites and crab Rangoon to start & can officially say I have had gator & it was wonderful! It's kind of tough, but they are cut into bite size pieces so it's not an issue. Whatever sauce is served with them was magically delicious and I wish I had the recipe for myself. The crab Rangoon was also amazing. Super tasteful and crunchy. Staying in the area we were looking for somewhere to have a good seafood dinner... we didn't find it - we found the MOST AMAZING place to have a seafood dinner! We made reservations online for the outside patio. When we got there, it was muggy and staying to train slightly. We asked to be seated inside and the hostess was very accommodating. Our server Kelly was very nice and gave us great recommendations. We started with oysters Rockefeller and shrimp cocktail. My beautiful gf had the hog fish with the Rockefeller style. I order the swordfish Napoleon. The oysters were cooked to perfection. Amazing flavor and the cheese was melted divinely. The shrimp was seasoned with the perfect amount of flavor. The rockefella hog fish was cooked to perfection the sauce was to die for. The sword fish Napoleon was absolutely amazing and each bite was better and better. The only disappointment of the night was that we finished our plate and one it more even with the big portions they gave us the flavor was so good we didn't want to stop eating. The Naples Deep Lagoon's food, service, and staff were spectacular. We were promptly greeted and the host accommodated our seating preference. There were at least 15 beers on tap including multiple local craft beers and a full service bar. The drink menu only needed the addition of espresso martinis to make my visit complete. The gator bites were juicy inside with a good meat to breading ratio; the coconut shrimp had an amazing sauce with real orange zest; and you could taste that the crab rangoon were handmade and freshly fried with real crab inside. The quality and freshness of the yellowfin tuna was by far better than what I have ever seen in SWFL, more so, even the portion size was impressive. The soups were all delicious with fresh pieces of seafood, well balanced seasoning, and a rich homemade flavor. I was very pleased with the staff, safety precautions, cleanliness, portions, quality, and freshness. The GM is obviously doing something right and I can't wait for the new location near the Mercado to open in April. I will definitely be returning! read more

On business in Naples and was looking for Seafood for dinner and came across this place on Yelp. It was just a short drive from the hotel. At first I was going to sit at the bar and have dinner dinner but it was full. So I took a table in their dining room. The dining room with small and they do have seating outside and a few tables around the bar. It was quite busy already at 5:30 p.m. Since I still had time for happy hour which was until 6 p.m. I took advantage of a glass of the house Pinot Grigio and the Oysters Rockefeller. The glass of wine was perfectly chilled and the oysters were delicious. For dinner I ordered the smaller portion of the fresh black grouper sauteed which was recommended by my waiter Justin. For my sides I did the baked potato which was a very nice size and the fresh green beans which were very tasty. The black grouper with sauteed perfectly not overcooked at all. So definitely an improvement over my 1st visit (at which point I said I'd never come back). This time the food was mostly decent. Had Steamed shrimp,shrimp risotto, Old Mama Oysters, hushpuppies, and medium size stone crabs. The hot old bay Shrimp were great and flavorful. I'd say the best of everything we ate in fact. The old mama oysters I've never had before and will never again; at least here as they were literally flavorless. I am surprised they are the "regulars favorite" over the Bluepoints, but it could be they blanch them too much with fresh water (commonly done by midwesterners who don't like their seafood to taste like it came from the sea). Stone crabs were prepared fine. Hushpuppies were perfectly cooked Shrimp risotto was just ok... it was palatable but wouldn't recommend it or get in the future. The service was definitely better than my first visit, but still a bit lax. Once they got busy the service got better, but prior to that, they were slack in taking orders & bringing drinks coming to bring drinks... guess the goofing off in the kitchen, eating brownies, throwing food and napkins at each other like a group of 14 year old boys was taking precedence over guests (they don't have a door at the entry to the kitchen, something they may want to consider adding if they can't manage their staff better). Would I go back, this time I would say yes. It still wouldn't be top of mind, and if on the hunt for seafood; unless there was something specific I knew they had that wasn't offered by others; I'd likely try some other places I have yet to go to before coming back here. read more

The lobster bisque wasn't the best I've had but it was good. It hardly had any lobster pieces in it though... maybe two very small pieces. The Seafood Fra Diavolo was good. It had good amounts of seafood. The waitress said it was spicy and asked if I wanted the red pepper flakes on the side but since I like spicy food I declined. They have teared the Old Randy down and renovated the interior completely. They are now part of Phelan Family Brands like Pinchers, Texas Tony's, etc. There are three sections, Fish Market, Main Dining Room and a few steps down is the Tap Room. I was seated immediately in the Tap Room. Ideal, I need a beer or a glass of wine to relax and as a reward for solving a difficult problem this morning! Instead Hogfish or Black Grouper, I have a New England Clam chowder and a bacon wrapped scallops and shrimps. The New England Clam chowder is creamy, lot of minced clams, onions, potato and spicy herbs just the way I like them. Great way to start my lunch! Next, the bacon wrapped shrimp and scallops are fried and served with mango chutney and a sweet chili sauce. It is great when you wash them with a Yuengling slowly! Didn't know what to expect, but Deep Lagoon exceeded all expectations. The food was incredible, the restaurant itself was beautiful, and the service was fantastic. To top it all off it was even reasonably priced! Drinks were very fun (got the key lime martini and the blue lagoon), a little strong but can't complain about that! The manager, Andrew, also came to our table to ask about everything and our service, and we asked about the history of the place and turns out they have an old recipe of key lime pie. Nice guy, but didn't know the food. Food arrived to table mostly correct but one dish had an allergen on it that wasn't supposed to be there. Do I recommend Deep Lagoon? ABSOLUTELY!!!! Starting with the Seafood Gumbo. It is honestly the best I've ever had. My wife enjoys the Lobster Bisque. Every entree I've ordered was excellant. My favorite is Stuffed Hogfish. They certainly dont skimp on the crab stuffing and its cooked to perfection. The oysters and clams are a little high but totally fresh. My wife loved the Captains Platter filled with shrimp grouper and scallops. As servers go we haven't had any complaints. The guys and girls are terrific. Had to ask twice for seating when we already had reservations. They seated us outside when our reservations were for an inside booth. That ended up being okay as it was quieter outside. The oil was overpowering the lemon in the pasta dish. The mashed potatoes on another dish were served cold. The most critical complaint was in the service. The waiter ignored us after appetizers for over 20 minutes before we were finally able to order our main courses. I would not totally fault the waiter as it seemed he had too many tables to manage. Every single dish was served cold, and not one was a salad nor a cold app. My parents and I ordered lobster bisques, conch fritters, Grouper Oscar, Scallops and blackened Snapper. They were all disgusting. The scallops were cold, we had to send them back twice, and the kitchen must have microwaved them, they were rubbery and sitting in two inches of oil with no flavor at all, gross!!! Holy yum!!!! I was so happy with my Hogfish, I ordered it sautéed with white wine, lemon, and butter. The Hogfish was flaky, tender, sweet, and very fairly priced. You can get your fish ordered as a sandwich, salad, or platter. The platter comes with two sides. I had the house veggie which was green beans with melted fresh parmesan cheese and an Idaho baked potato. It was perfectly cooked and had that delicious salt baked on the outside. It also comes with a house salad, all for $28!!! If you live in Naples or dine out often, you know this is a great deal. My dad had the Shrimp Scampi which he really enjoyed. We started with the calamari which was very tender. They also serve grain bread slices which were yummy and soft. The only downside was the lack of staff for all the tables and crowd. The bartender was helping tables as well as people at the bar. However, I am very understanding when the restaurant goes out of their way to rectify the situation. Our server, Anthony, actually took time to come to the back of the bar to serve us (he was working in the other room) after I told the hostess the service in the bar area was very slow. The manager, Tony just happened to hear what was going on and immediately jumped to help. I was starving and said if I can just have the calamari put in, I would be a very happy girl. This was such a fun dinner! The service was great, definitely make a reservation because it's busy! The atmosphere was super cool. Loved the decorations/pictures and our waitress was the sweetest. I got the Tropical Mahi. Definitely delicious-but I think they could really take it to the next level. If I pretended I was Gordon Ramsay this is what I would say: the fish was perfect. The sweet potato mash was perfect. The butter sauce was rich but delicious. I would HIGHLY recommend adding 4x as much salsa to add acidity. There was a solid teaspoon, but the acidity was so yummy I think quadrupling the salsa is key to this dish. I got extra because it was so tasty but honestly it needed that bit of tang from the red onion and mango. The fried plantains were not the best choice, IMHO. I was definitely rooting for more of a chip, which would have been soooo incredible to add a crunch to the dish, or something to scoop up the fish and the salsa with. They'd work if they weren't being outdone by the yam, but the flavors/textures were so similar it didn't really make sense to top a starch with another starch. I think if they served the fried plantains as yummy savory chips it would be outstanding. Finally, i'd change the grilled lemon garnish to a lime. Well we visited Naples this was our very first time and it was absolutely wonderful between the beaches and breakfast this morning and now dinner at the Deep Lagoon. The staff was great all the dishes were awesome we had no complaints the staff were gloves there was hand sanitizing and they also wore mask. The shrimp were so impressive they were the size of my hand. There is ample parking and seating outside. There is also a market if you should choose to come during the day and they also have bottles of wine for sale and Key Lime pie.
