The Grouper Rockefeller and Hogfish Lagoon style were our choices for dinner and both were incredible. But none of that holds a candle to the dessert... the carrot cake is phenomenal. My only negative was that although there weren't many people in the restaurant our server was slow to come and take our order but we didn't mind because we weren't in a hurry. Driest piece of fish I have ever tried to eat. I got my hogfish blackened at the server's recommendation and my husband got his sautéed. His was at least edible. Both our baked potatoes had huge black spots in them and my broccoli was definitely frozen although they didn't overcook that. I told the server who was very nice that the fish was bone dry and she offered to bring a sauce so I could choke it down. No thanks. So I only ate two bites. I have been a regular customer for the last 4 years at the Deep Lagoon in Naples, mainly love going for their stone crabs when in season. Tonight I received my order that was not cracked properly and one was just dried out and should have never been served. I asked the waitress to please have them fixed so that I could get to the meat of the crab. Lexi, not sure of her position, came over to our table and spoke to us worse than you would speak to a dog. She accused us of coming weekly and always sending back our dinners which is far from the truth as I don't go there weekly. This season, this is my 3rd time there and it is near the end of February. I approached her after I came out of the ladies room and she again was just plain rude. I will not be coming back there and hope that Lexi is replaced as her behavior was totally uncalled for. O M G!!! This was our first trip since the world went on lockdown 3 months ago. Staying in the area we were looking for somewhere to have a good seafood dinner... we didn't find it - we found the MOST AMAZING place to have a seafood dinner! We made reservations online for the outside patio. When we got there, it was muggy and staying to train slightly. We asked to be seated inside and the hostess was very accommodating. Our server Kelly was very nice and gave us great recommendations. We started with oysters Rockefeller and shrimp cocktail. My beautiful gf had the hog fish with the Rockefeller style. I order the swordfish Napoleon. The oysters were cooked to perfection. Amazing flavor and the cheese was melted divinely. The shrimp was seasoned with the perfect amount of flavor. The rockefella hog fish was cooked to perfection the sauce was to die for. The sword fish Napoleon was absolutely amazing and each bite was better and better. The only disappointment of the night was that we finished our plate and one it more even with the big portions they gave us the flavor was so good we didn't want to stop eating. The Naples Deep Lagoon's food, service, and staff were spectacular. We were promptly greeted and the host accommodated our seating preference. There were at least 15 beers on tap including multiple local craft beers and a full service bar. The drink menu only needed the addition of espresso martinis to make my visit complete. The gator bites were juicy inside with a good meat to breading ratio; the coconut shrimp had an amazing sauce with real orange zest; and you could taste that the crab rangoon were handmade and freshly fried with real crab inside. The quality and freshness of the yellowfin tuna was by far better than what I have ever seen in SWFL, more so, even the portion size was impressive. The soups were all delicious with fresh pieces of seafood, well balanced seasoning, and a rich homemade flavor. I was very pleased with the staff, safety precautions, cleanliness, portions, quality, and freshness. The GM is obviously doing something right and I can't wait for the new location near the Mercado to open in April. I will definitely be returning! read more

Whatever sauce is served with them was magically delicious and I wish I had the recipe for myself. The crab Rangoon was also amazing. Super tasteful and crunchy. For the entree, we order the stuffed hogfish which was to die for. Really can't get better than fish stuffed with crab and cooked to perfection. On business in Naples and was looking for Seafood for dinner and came across this place on Yelp. It was just a short drive from the hotel. At first I was going to sit at the bar and have dinner dinner but it was full. So I took a table in their dining room. The dining room with small and they do have seating outside and a few tables around the bar. It was quite busy already at 5:30 p.m. Since I still had time for happy hour which was until 6 p.m. I took advantage of a glass of the house Pinot Grigio and the Oysters Rockefeller. The glass of wine was perfectly chilled and the oysters were delicious. For dinner I ordered the smaller portion of the fresh black grouper sauteed which was recommended by my waiter Justin. For my sides I did the baked potato which was a very nice size and the fresh green beans which were very tasty. The black grouper with sauteed perfectly not overcooked at all. So definitely an improvement over my 1st visit (at which point I said I'd never come back). This time the food was mostly decent. Had Steamed shrimp,shrimp risotto, Old Mama Oysters, hushpuppies, and medium size stone crabs. The hot old bay Shrimp were great and flavorful. I'd say the best of everything we ate in fact. The old mama oysters I've never had before and will never again; at least here as they were literally flavorless. I am surprised they are the "regulars favorite" over the Bluepoints, but it could be they blanch them too much with fresh water (commonly done by midwesterners who don't like their seafood to taste like it came from the sea). Stone crabs were prepared fine. Hushpuppies were perfectly cooked Shrimp risotto was just ok... it was palatable but wouldn't recommend it or get in the future. The service was definitely better than my first visit, but still a bit lax. Once they got busy the service got better, but prior to that, they were slack in taking orders & bringing drinks coming to bring drinks... guess the goofing off in the kitchen, eating brownies, throwing food and napkins at each other like a group of 14 year old boys was taking precedence over guests (they don't have a door at the entry to the kitchen, something they may want to consider adding if they can't manage their staff better). Would I go back, this time I would say yes. It still wouldn't be top of mind, and if on the hunt for seafood; unless there was something specific I knew they had that wasn't offered by others; I'd likely try some other places I have yet to go to before coming back here. read more

If you mention Deep Lagoon Seafood, I would respond like, "Do you like hogfish and key lime pie?" They are my favorite from Deep Lagoon. Today, driving down US 41 after Immokalee Road, the image of Deep Lagoon flashed in my mind while searching for a place for lunch. Without hesitation, I parked and went in the back main entrance. They have teared the Old Randy down and renovated the interior completely. They are now part of Phelan Family Brands like Pinchers, Texas Tony's, etc. There are three sections, Fish Market, Main Dining Room and a few steps down is the Tap Room. I was seated immediately in the Tap Room. Ideal, I need a beer or a glass of wine to relax and as a reward for solving a difficult problem this morning! Instead Hogfish or Black Grouper, I have a New England Clam chowder and a bacon wrapped scallops and shrimps. The New England Clam chowder is creamy, lot of minced clams, onions, potato and spicy herbs just the way I like them. Great way to start my lunch! Next, the bacon wrapped shrimp and scallops are fried and served with mango chutney and a sweet chili sauce. It is great when you wash them with a Yuengling slowly! The waiter was excellent but the food wasn't good, frankly it was poor.On October 17 I ordered the Hogfish and it was way,way ,way over cooked. It was not edible. Everything about the dish was "dry as a bone" , it appears way too much time under the heat lamps. My wife's meal of fried oysters were cool to the touch.The manager did stop by and asked while looking at my plate how was everything to which I said fine for who wants to wait twenty minute for a new dish when the rest off the table was finished. I went to this restaurant today for the first time while vacationing in Naples, FL. The staff were all very friendly and I liked the decor. The lobster bisque wasn't the best I've had but it was good. It hardly had any lobster pieces in it though... maybe two very small pieces. The Seafood Fra Diavolo was good. It had good amounts of seafood. The waitress said it was spicy and asked if I wanted the red pepper flakes on the side but since I like spicy food I declined. Didn't know what to expect, but Deep Lagoon exceeded all expectations. The food was incredible, the restaurant itself was beautiful, and the service was fantastic. To top it all off it was even reasonably priced! Drinks were very fun (got the key lime martini and the blue lagoon), a little strong but can't complain about that! The manager, Andrew, also came to our table to ask about everything and our service, and we asked about the history of the place and turns out they have an old recipe of key lime pie. Just had dinner with party of six. The general consensus in the car ride home was, "Do we have Covid, or is the food here tasteless?" Seriously, we wondered if we needed to pickup some tests, but remembered that we could taste the drinks. Service was not great by local standards. Waiter didn't know the menu. Nice guy, but didn't know the food. Food arrived to table mostly correct but one dish had an allergen on it that wasn't supposed to be there. One plate of six arrived about five minutes after everyone else's. Manager interrupted conversation a few times to see if he could be helpful. We said, "yea, could you make sure the allergen-free order has been communicated to the kitchen?" He said yes, but the delivery had the allergen all over it, as mentioned above. Holy yum!!!! I was so happy with my Hogfish, I ordered it sautéed with white wine, lemon, and butter. The Hogfish was flaky, tender, sweet, and very fairly priced. You can get your fish ordered as a sandwich, salad, or platter. The platter comes with two sides. I had the house veggie which was green beans with melted fresh parmesan cheese and an Idaho baked potato. It was perfectly cooked and had that delicious salt baked on the outside. It also comes with a house salad, all for $28!!! If you live in Naples or dine out often, you know this is a great deal. My dad had the Shrimp Scampi which he really enjoyed. We started with the calamari which was very tender. They also serve grain bread slices which were yummy and soft. The only downside was the lack of staff for all the tables and crowd. The bartender was helping tables as well as people at the bar. However, I am very understanding when the restaurant goes out of their way to rectify the situation. Our server, Anthony, actually took time to come to the back of the bar to serve us (he was working in the other room) after I told the hostess the service in the bar area was very slow. The manager, Tony just happened to hear what was going on and immediately jumped to help. I was starving and said if I can just have the calamari put in, I would be a very happy girl. It came in about 5 minutes, personally delivered with apologies. Tony also requested Anthony come help and take our order. One other thing, the floors in the back room were very sticky. Do I recommend Deep Lagoon? ABSOLUTELY!!!! Starting with the Seafood Gumbo. It is honestly the best I've ever had. My wife enjoys the Lobster Bisque. Every entree I've ordered was excellant. My favorite is Stuffed Hogfish. They certainly dont skimp on the crab stuffing and its cooked to perfection. The oysters and clams are a little high but totally fresh. My wife loved the Captains Platter filled with shrimp grouper and scallops. As servers go we haven't had any complaints. The guys and girls are terrific. The place is brightly painted and well lit with terrific ambiance. Both my wife and I high.y recommend the Deep Lagoon as our top favorite restaurant in North Naples. Had to ask twice for seating when we already had reservations. They seated us outside when our reservations were for an inside booth. That ended up being okay as it was quieter outside. The oil was overpowering the lemon in the pasta dish. The mashed potatoes on another dish were served cold. The most critical complaint was in the service. The waiter ignored us after appetizers for over 20 minutes before we were finally able to order our main courses. I would not totally fault the waiter as it seemed he had too many tables to manage. Every single dish was served cold, and not one was a salad nor a cold app. My parents and I ordered lobster bisques, conch fritters, Grouper Oscar, Scallops and blackened Snapper. They were all disgusting. The scallops were cold, we had to send them back twice, and the kitchen must have microwaved them, they were rubbery and sitting in two inches of oil with no flavor at all, gross!!!
