Ambience. A Service. A Food. B- Price. B Always love this small space tucked away half way down the piers. Staff is always friendly when I enter. I like they have full change table service after every serving. Hiwever, I was quite surprised today when I ordered the oysters. 3 raw and 3 Rockefeller. I would have lessened their star rating except they corrected the problem. The rockefellers were nice delicious with a grilled Parmesan onion toppings. However, I was quite surprised that my raw oysters were served turned up in a bowl with all the brine spilled to the bottom of the bowl and not even on ice. I noticed the oysters were warm or room temp. I had to send them back. 2nd time was served on bed of ice. Really weird to get oysters served turned up in a bowl. Hmmm? The crab claws were lovely. In a nice butter sauce. The pan grilled black sole was huge and absolutely tender and delicious. You just have to work around the bones. €36. Served with pan Fried potatoes and pan grilled veggies. The chef special shel fish pot was spot on with tender clams, mussels, shrimp and crab claws served in a tomato based Provençal sauce. Delicious. Nice crusty grilled bread to sop up the broth on the bottom. Still lovely place to get good seafood. Just tell them if something doesn't look or taste right. I did!

I LOVE DEEP! Came across this gem while I was in Howth for the afternoon with my friend. The ambiance is very intimate and cozy, perfect for quality time with a friend. Deep has super fresh seafood right from Dublin Bay. I know it's not Irish at all but I ordered seafood paella (my favorite food) and for dessert I had cheesecake. The paella was good but the cheesecake tasted more like a block of whipped cream. It definitely wasn't cream cheese. I also had a nice hot pot of peppermint tea since it pretty cold and windy when we visited Howth. Very nice dining experience. I would definitely come back here if I'm ever in Howth again!

Oh I loved my meal here! I ordered the Asian style trout (sweet n sour and a little bit of spice, yum) and it was very fresh. Loved the roasted potatoes drenched in the sauce. Decent portion sizes (I was stuffed, and my friend's fish pie was nearly too big for two). I definitely recommend this place for some lovely seafood choices! The one downer was my friend who ordered the mussels wasn't too impressed.

We had such a good experience here! They were able to seat our party of 9 immediately. The waiter was super attentive and was very good at refilling our waters. The food was amazing. The fried Bree, oysters, pate apps were all delicious! We got the seafood platter, lobster Alfredo, and paella for the main entree and everything was really delicious!!

    Chunky Onion Rings are yummyyyyy

Went here for lunch with some friends who were visiting from Australia. The oysters were fabulous, the seafood platter for two was excellent and they have decent wine selection. Desserts were also good and the service we had was excellent. Can't wait to go back here for fabulous seafood and for loads of oysters :-))

They have the best oysters! The plan for the day was to drive to Howth and explore the town. But…read moreheavy rains and wind ruined those plans. Since we were on this side of the town, we decided to make the most of it and look for a meal of seafood. I had Octopussy's Tapas bookmarked when researching for the trip, so we decided to stop in for lunch. It was a Thursday at around 1:30, and the restaurant was almost full. It's a very small restaurant and it's mostly high top tables with bar stools, so it wasn't exactly looking baby-friendly, since had our 8-month old and a stroller with us. Luckily, they have a small back room (literally a room that can probably seat 4-6 people) that was available, and they seat us back there. It was nice and cozy, and cute - decorated like you were on a ship. Here is what we ordered: -Carlingford Oysters (served in the shell with fresh lemon) - these oysters were everything! They were big, shucked properly, and tasted super fresh. It didn't need anything but the lemon but they did recommend us trying their housemade hot sauce. We did and we loved it, and ended up buying a bottle to take home. We also ended up ordering some more oysters for dessert (lol) -Seafood Chowder (squid, mussels, smoked coley, & prawns served with homemade brown bread) - this was full of seafood. It is heavy though since chowder is cream-based so I would recommend sharing this, as opposed to ordering one on your own. The brown bread was also very nice -Seafood Paella (paella rice, chorizo, mussels, gambas, squid rings, and smoked coley) - another dish filled with seafood. They don't skimp out here! I could have done without the squid rings (they tasted rubber-bandy, like they're from frozen), and the smoked coley. I'm not a huge fan of smoked foods. I didn't really taste it in the chowder - maybe the cream covered it up, but I was able to taste it more in the paella -Whiskey Scallops (cooked in whiskey butter) - very rich but the scallops were good. You definitely want to dip some of the brown bread in this sauce There were so many other dishes we wanted to try but we had to stop ourselves from ordering too much for two people. Overall, it was a great meal and at these prices for seafood?! You really can't beat it.

I'd definitely recommend as a low-key lunch spot. I stopped in for a super early lunch after a boat ride (It was 11:40ish) and was happy to see the dining area was already filling up. Some folks were ordering coffee, and others were skipping to lunch like me. I went with the crab burger and this thing was massive. I swapped regular fries for sweet potato fries for an extra few $$$. The portion size and quality ingredients = definitely worth the price. Once you leave the restaurant, you can walk through to the gift shop. I ended up buying quite a few trinkets for friends and family. It was one of the more impressive gift shops that I had seen while on my trip for sure! And they also have a fresh seafood selection on display. A little bit of everything!

LOOK AT THE PHOTO THESE THINGS ARE PROBABLY THE LARGEST OYSTERS WE'LL SEE IN OUR LIFE. We didn't even know how to eat them they were so big! I wish I caught a the name of the guy working behind the counter because his customer service was top notch, he was so helpful and seemed to really love his job. He told us all the options and have great recommendations - we ended up with the flamed options and the flavors were so amazing. Highly, highly recommend. Loved it!

This busy takeout place near the Howth waterfront specializes in fried fish. Three kinds were…read moreavailable that day: cod, haddock, and hake. I don't know if I could tell these apart except from the shape so I asked which was the most popular and was told cod. So I ordered the cod fish & chips and a side of mushy peas. I ordered at the counter and waited about 5 minutes for my number to be called then took the box outside to eat on the lawn near the water, keeping a careful watch on the aggressive seagulls. The portion was good, the fish was fresh like just off the boat, the batter light and mildly seasoned, and no disagreeable flavors from the frying oil. Unfortunately the batter was inconsistent: thin and crunchy in places, thicker and soggy in others. The fries were just ok, starchy. So overall only average. I had to try mushy peas again, just my second time. They tasted and looked just like they sound: mashed up green peas. No mint flavoring added this time. Fine for what they were, but I just don't get it. I think I prefer coleslaw with my fish&chips but I don't think it's offered here. Perhaps coleslaw is an American thing? So only average overall. But I'd consider returning if I wanted a quick takeout lunch as the other restaurants in the area were more formal sit-down places.
