Absolutely delicious seafood restaurant (next to the market) ! My fiancé and I knew we wanted quality seafood while visiting Howth and that's what we got with Beshoffs. The servers were incredibly friendly and helpful, the food was fresh and flavorful, and the ambiance was lovely! Beshoffs had a lot of great seafood items to pick from and we absolutely loved what we ordered: seafood chowder, seaweed butter with brown bread, crab salad, and Miso sea bass. Overall, we had a lovely dinner together and are so glad we came here!

In the picturesque town of Howth, there is a row of top notch restaurants to choose from. Outdoor seating or beautiful indoor dining is available at Beshoffs of Howth. The selection of fresh seafood on the menu makes it difficult to choose a single meal, especially on an empty stomach. We chose to sit outside and take in the views. The seafood chowder is one to rave about and it had clams! The flavor was terrific and it was chocked full of fish. I had to try my lunch mates authentic beer battered cod and fries! Some of the best we had on our trip! The seaweed butter with fresh bread was something that we tried for the first time. The fresh bread was delicious and the seaweed butter was worth trying, but it is an acquired taste. So happy we made the choice to check this restaurant out! The service was excellent as the waiter took the time to explain a few questions we had about the menu. Great location to the train or to walk down to the water and enjoy the views of Howth!

Calamari was overcooked and flavorless. Monkfish was a good cut of fish but otherwise the potatoes had very little going for them.

Overall the restaurant had good food but there are other choices of restaurants on this row so it's really up to your preference. This place was the first on the walk down the row. The service was just okay since they were that attentive. I would recommend checking out other seafood restaurant menus before choosing this one.

After a brief walk to check out the fish markets we came in here for a nice long lunch. The bread served before lunch was very nice and tied us over until the last member of our group arrived. We tried both types of fish and chips and all agreed that we preferred the cod over the halibut. And the seafood platter had all sorts of goodies from lobster to oysters and shrimp. As in the rest of the restaurants we enjoyed in Ireland, the service was wonderful.

Cute little spot in Howth with fresh and delicious seafood. The fish and chips was my favorite! Everything was delicious though. Staff was nice, and the decor of the place was clean and inviting. It gets busy, so make reservations.

When near the sea, eat from the sea. I decided while in Dublin to head to a fishing town and get some fresh seafood. I ended up at Beshoffs of Howth. The seafood is fresh! They ships come I and soon later it ends up on your plate. Not wanting to waste space on trivial things like vegetables, I ordered a grilled calamari with paprika and the fresh garlic crab. This was not a disappointing meal. The fish was fresh, and the flavours were there. They were also able to make this all gluten free for me as well. I chose to sit in the store portion instead of the full restaurant, but it was still a fantastic meal and a great view! 5 stars.

This place was a bit pricey, but overall I was very satisfied with the service and the food. The waitresses gave great reviews and I'm glad she recommended the mussels. The sauce was great and I've never seen so many mussels in one bowl before. I was nervous they wouldn't fill me up, but after what felt like hundreds of mussels I was very satisfied despite wanting to eat more because they were so good.

What better way to end a fresh walk over the cliffs of Howth with some piping hot seafood chowder. It's a fish mongers inside with Ivan's oyster bar at the back with Guinness on tap and wine. You are guaranteed that it's the freshest fish and the atmosphere is great too. On the other side of the shop is a coffee area and soup for €3.50. It's pricier at Ivan's. Beautiful spot of the world that is not explored enough in my opinion... The DART drops you right into the town so you have no issues getting out there public transport wise.

Beshoffs of Howth covers all the stops: it packs everything into one place. Primarily, the business is a fish market. The name Beshoffs is known in Dublin for selling battered cod and other popular fish like plaice, ray and haddock so when you come into this place, you see these cuts on display. But you can get a lot of other food too. This shop tries to capitalize on its prime location and good name by selling other things that Ireland is famous for. There's an oyster bar in the back of the shop called Ivan's. There's a vegetable and fruit section in the middle and there's a dairy fridge against the side wall. Finally, there's a coffee station that does takeaways. All the food looks really good and fresh, but the prices are exorbitant. I guess this place charges more for its upscale decor.

Great coffee and a nice place to sit is all I was looking for and a warm up from the cold and the wind outside. Everyone was very nice and it was cozy inside which was super nice. There was a place inside to sit and sip my coffee without raking up a table in the dining area. For what I needed it was perfect.

Gorgeous little fishmonger set on the West Pier at Howth. Despite its slick interior and seeming unaffordability for the non home-owners or merc drivers out there, the fresh fish prices are actually pretty reasonable. There is also a coffee shop/snack food section and Ivan's Oyster Bar at the back of the fish market. Ivan's is a swanky looking bar and has an offer of 3 oyster shots and a glass of prosecco for $10. We were almost sucked in... sounded like a great idea, and the seating along the bar at the back is very cool! I'd probably shop here over Wrights next door (although much of a muchness, really!) because it has a nicer interior.

The food was good but the main came with no sides, the water came with no ice, they took our mains away and didn't ask if we wanted tea or coffee, kids ice cream came in a water glass and we couldn't get someone to get the bill so went and waited at the till. Food ok but overpriced and service not to standard!

I'd definitely recommend as a low-key lunch spot. I stopped in for a super early lunch after a boat ride (It was 11:40ish) and was happy to see the dining area was already filling up. Some folks were ordering coffee, and others were skipping to lunch like me. I went with the crab burger and this thing was massive. I swapped regular fries for sweet potato fries for an extra few $$$. The portion size and quality ingredients = definitely worth the price. Once you leave the restaurant, you can walk through to the gift shop. I ended up buying quite a few trinkets for friends and family. It was one of the more impressive gift shops that I had seen while on my trip for sure! And they also have a fresh seafood selection on display. A little bit of everything!

Since we were on this side of the town, we decided to make the most of it and look for a meal of seafood. I had Octopussy's Tapas bookmarked when researching for the trip, so we decided to stop in for lunch. It was a Thursday at around 1:30, and the restaurant was almost full. It's a very small restaurant and it's mostly high top tables with bar stools, so it wasn't exactly looking baby-friendly, since had our 8-month old and a stroller with us. Luckily, they have a small back room (literally a room that can probably seat 4-6 people) that was available, and they seat us back there. It was nice and cozy, and cute - decorated like you were on a ship. Here is what we ordered: -Carlingford Oysters (served in the shell with fresh lemon) - these oysters were everything! They were big, shucked properly, and tasted super fresh. It didn't need anything but the lemon but they did recommend us trying their housemade hot sauce. We did and we loved it, and ended up buying a bottle to take home. We also ended up ordering some more oysters for dessert (lol) -Seafood Chowder (squid, mussels, smoked coley, & prawns served with homemade brown bread) - this was full of seafood. It is heavy though since chowder is cream-based so I would recommend sharing this, as opposed to ordering one on your own. The brown bread was also very nice -Seafood Paella (paella rice, chorizo, mussels, gambas, squid rings, and smoked coley) - another dish filled with seafood. They don't skimp out here! I could have done without the squid rings (they tasted rubber-bandy, like they're from frozen), and the smoked coley. I'm not a huge fan of smoked foods. I didn't really taste it in the chowder - maybe the cream covered it up, but I was able to taste it more in the paella -Whiskey Scallops (cooked in whiskey butter) - very rich but the scallops were good. You definitely want to dip some of the brown bread in this sauce There were so many other dishes we wanted to try but we had to stop ourselves from ordering too much for two people. Overall, it was a great meal and at these prices for seafood?! You really can't beat it.

I don't know if I could tell these apart except from the shape so I asked which was the most popular and was told cod. So I ordered the cod fish & chips and a side of mushy peas. I ordered at the counter and waited about 5 minutes for my number to be called then took the box outside to eat on the lawn near the water, keeping a careful watch on the aggressive seagulls. The portion was good, the fish was fresh like just off the boat, the batter light and mildly seasoned, and no disagreeable flavors from the frying oil. Unfortunately the batter was inconsistent: thin and crunchy in places, thicker and soggy in others. The fries were just ok, starchy. So overall only average. I had to try mushy peas again, just my second time. They tasted and looked just like they sound: mashed up green peas. No mint flavoring added this time. Fine for what they were, but I just don't get it. I think I prefer coleslaw with my fish&chips but I don't think it's offered here. Perhaps coleslaw is an American thing? So only average overall. But I'd consider returning if I wanted a quick takeout lunch as the other restaurants in the area were more formal sit-down places.
