I reached out to Deep Eddy to schedule a appointment with a PA or NP of psychiatry for medication management because I was finishing up a 12 week program at Meadows outpatient Center. I really only needed them to manage 4 medications (lithium, Quetiapine, lamotrigine and propranolol) no controlled substances. The dosages were already figured out. All the work had already been done for them. I also listed a bunch of other PRNs that I had tried while in treatment that i wasn't currently taking. Again no controlled substances, they were trazadone, gabapentin, hydroxyzine. I've been a RN for over 12 years, I was the supervisor on the first acute care floor in central tx to take on covid. The first wave really did a number on me that caused a lot of my PTSD. Anyway, what im trying to say is I tell people when they haven't been honest with me, to avoid being resentful toward them. When I tried to set up this appointment to see a PA for medication management I was denied because I was too "high acuity." What happened before that was me giving Christopher Keener some honest feedback on his response time. They wouldn't confirm the appointment until they had a credit card on file. Before I could put my husband's credit card on file I had to fill out a release of information form. Which made me feel like a criminal that had to prove my innocence. Credit card information has nothing to do with HIPAA. I have never heard or been asked to do this before. I was told I would be called as soon as it was in. I did it right away, waited, emailed to see if he received it, waited a little longer, tried to access my portal to enter the card but it hadn't been set up, I called back got someone different they said they sent him a message and he would be calling back in 20mins, it never happened that day. I wanted to get it done because I was finishing up treatment the next day and wouldn't have my phone on me. They would only hold the spot for 24hrs and i was worried I'd loose it. No attempt was made to reach out to me for clarification, no doc to doc was requested. Just a refusal. The corespondance is copied and pasted below. Notice the times. I gave him some honest feedback about response time at 11:46 and the refusal was sent at 11:52. I think somebody(Christopher Keener) may have got in their feelings and did this passive aggressive lash out. I'm really surprised that a therapist(Christopher keener) could have such thin skin. My therapist after my first session set me up with what she said would be a weekly time slot, and we agreed on that. The next week, she did not show up for our scheduled session. Later that day I got a notification for an appointment the following day, which I was not available for. It was very confusing and I wasn't sure who to contact. The therapist later apologized and said she would get in touch about our next session, even though we had established a weekly schedule, but she never followed up. A week later I canceled services and had nothing but $300 in fees. read more

These people overcharged me 30$ every session, when I came to them to fix it they refused to help and ignored me, but not before sending me ANOTHER PATIENTS RECORDS. The patient in question has no similar information to me any way shape or form, and yet I can tell you their name, provider, insurance number, phone number, and every time they used deep eddy. read more

wow unbelievably bad right from the start. I never made it to the appointment but much like a gym membership they get your credit card information up front immediately. then they make it impossible to fill out form online registration. when you tell them that you are no longer interested they try their tactics to get you to fill online form when you ask about HIPPA they say they keep the forms private but their system is so screwed up you wonder how. first and foremost is they want your money with prices listed lower or stated Lise 145- 180 dollars but actually 250 dollars an hour. Asked if they had MDs answer was vague. Asked to cancel 48 hours in advance no response ! they charge you if you don't answer. so my advice go somewhere else unless you like to pay for services you never received read more

The success of a physician practice is in many ways dependent on staff. Staff schedule patient appointments and bill insurance companies and interact with patients, who are customers. Customers have a choice and can walk away. I chose to walk away from Deep Eddy Psychotherapy because staff treated me like I don't have a choice. Buyer beware. read more

Therapists are amazing but accounting cannot get it together. It's a constant frustration. They even leaked my personal info to another patient by emailing them by accident. I have over 50 emails back and forth legit just saying WHAT DO I OWE. It should be the same copay each time. But they can't understand what session was paid for and what was not. If you haven't started Deep Eddy, I don't recommend it, find another office that can send normal bills like a professional company. read more

Terrible experience trying to find a provider for counseling with this company. Never saw emails they supposedly sent, and even booked us an appointment for a provider who did not even do marriage counseling. We found out by calling them when they did not call us during our scheduled time. Was also told by a front desk person that she was about to go to lunch and couldn't schedule something right then. read more

Great mission however from a business perspective it can be a lot better. Had to cancel last minute resulting in a charge of 130. Was told I could cancel up to 45 minutes before appointment but I guess that's not the case. Called numerous of times to pay the bill due to errors online and via transaction. I also left multiple email inquiries regarding the debt asking someone to reach out so I can pay the bill. It has been 30 days. It's like they either do not want the money or they are waiting as long as possible so that it can accrue and go to collection's adding more hassle to the stakeholders that are keeping this business active. read more

During the Covid-19 crisis, Dr Howard led a group Zoom call on "Handling anxiety in uncertain times". Her peaceful and thoughtful guidance was such a blessing in the midst of the crazy news articles and social media we've been reading. She gave concrete advice and tools for understanding how to dig deeper to where the anxiety is rooted and how to physically hold space for your emotions and in doing so release them. I have found that in the couple days since her session I've been able to be more aware of how I'm feeling and instead of resisting it- I've been able to acknowledge it and give myself grace. After years of not having health insurance, in 2015 I finally found myself insured with an HSA to boot. Thanks Obama! Obviously my first concern was trying to get my physical health (mainly cold sores and an God awful toenail fungal infection) under control but not soon after that I knew it was time to tackle my mental health too. LOL. I chose Deep Eddy therapy mostly bc of the close location to my favorite bar in town- Deep Eddy Cabaret. LOL! For real though I went this therapy shop on a whim. I'm not sorry I did. I chose Dr S bc he was an older man and for some reason I've always been drawn to old men. They've been around a long time and seen things so must know more than younger guys. LOL. The past few years for me had been trying to say the least. I'd been hanging on by a thread that kept getting thinner and thinner. It'd been over 3 years since my very foundation was shaken to its core. Initially I took a long ride on the highway of self destruction. I rode it for months and months and months and months- drinking, dWIS, drugs, promiscuousity. Not to mention broken promises I never knew I'd made, burnt bridge after bridge, waking up in places/cars unknown to me, cartons and cartons of cigarettes. Long story short I self medicated night after night after night until finally enough was enough. LOL. I made an appointment with Dr. S, who turns out is the best of the the best in town. My first session with Dr S- it was clear this guy knew his stuff. I walked into his office and he stayed seated in his lazy boy recliner (looked comfy)-pointing me to take a seat in the folding chair across from him. His approach while unorthodox appeared to be his comfort over mine. I liked it! This was his office, I was just an interloper. LOL. I sat across from him, noticing the room temp was pretty toasty. I was sweating profusely and envious of the desk fan pointed directly at his lazyboy. My thighs were stuck to the metal of the folding chair when Dr. S spoke his opening line, "tell me about your heartache." This guy was good!!! I know I have more than my fair share of sun damage but that doesn't always translate to being damaged inside too, but Dr. S, he just knew. LOL. He gave me a sense from the start that he knew what a worthless human I had become. He didn't hold back. Tough love- I dig it! He wasn't afraid to call me names when necessary. He understood how to capitalize on the vulnerability I felt sitting in his hot office and uncomfortable metal chair. The only way to build me up was to first tear me down. What I also liked about Dr. S was the subtle undertone of misogyny he maintained in all our sessions. Dr. S's job was to show me it's a man's world and the only way for me (or any of us) to be successful is to accept that. LOL. He suggested I come in to start with 3 times a week. Sounded great to me, the only issue was they didn't take my health insurance- thanks Obama! At $170 a session things start adding up quickly. Due to the cost, after a couple weeks he kindly suggested I move to group therapy. To be honest I wasn't sure if I was to the point yet that I was ready to be called names in front of a group of strangers. However, I liked the idea of seeing what sort of insults he threw out at others. LOL. Around that time, I ended up getting hired for Uber and Lyft. His group sessions all take place during peak hours for ride share. So I haven't been able to go back yet. For now I'm just trying to continue utilizing what he taught me. I definitely recommend this guy but like I said his method is a bit out of the box. But we all have to get out of the box at some point! Lol. read more

Working with the psychologists at Deep Eddy has helped me become happy and confident in who I am. For the last 7 months, I've been seeing Dr. Charlotte Howard for individual and Dr. Jev Sikes for group therapy. I'd never heard of group therapy outside of a rehab setting, but the combination of individual attention and working with others in a group has made it easier for me to recognize how my own reactions are received in others. Going to Deep Eddy feels so indulgent because I am taking the time solely for working on myself. However, the time I spend here has improved my outlook, my self image, my attitude, and every single relationship in my life. I have tried a multitude of other therapies and I have to say that the angle that Jev uses with incorporating psychotherspy is most effective. There are some good therapists in this practice but DO NOT see Brook Halpern. She is overtly disingenuous, rude, and does not even deign to don a mask of empathy during sessions. It's obvious she's only pursuing counseling work in order to transition into a low-work, low-effort career, and indeed the level of effort she will put into your well-being is BARGAIN BASEMENT low. Her flagrant apathy and condescension toward clients is offensive if not somewhat laughable. If you do undertake a course of "therapy" with her you'll spend a lot of time staring at the wall in silence, because she doesn't have much to contribute verbally other than platitudes and crude sycophancy. She's obviously very proud of the florid title of her doctoral dissertation but it would be nice if she used that self-proclaimed eloquence to actually SAY SOMETHING during a session, or even better say something productive and relevant. You get the impression that you should be her therapist, because she certainly needs one. This line of work is not for her. read more
