I went to buy some meat yesterday and was not only greeted poorly, but the guy that treated me in a very rude way, also seem to want to get physical with me. Found this place on accident once I expanded my search from the city. Being downtown, everyone knows if you need a good butcher, go down to the legendary butcher shop in deep ellum. Well, they've been dripping the ball for a while so I decided to look around. Service: top notch. The girl knew the prices and menu off the top of her head. Great experience. Pork: tried their Applewood smoked bacon- will never eat any other bacon! Hands down the best in town. It's nice and thick, you can taste the Applewood smoke, and it cooks just like it should. They have a ranch sausage link with chives that is very tasty and fresh- would recommend as well. Dried Beef: their garlic and peppered beef jerky is solid. Wagyu NYS: this thing is like butter. Worth the price and the freshness here is unreal! Grass-fed Ribeye: eh, this was only ok. The cut I got was not fresh like the rest of my order. Slightly too much fat on the sides as well. Choice tenderloin: this was also like butter. The quality here for choice feels like prime at least. I might try their higher cuts in this to compare. Overall, this place is solid and at a minimum, give it a try. Slightly on the pricey side, but worth it for the product you get. read more

This is a Dallas gem. These people are passionate about meat and it shows. If you value clean (i.e., natural) meat, humane treatment of livestock, and local businesses, you should shop here. Don't be put off by the relatively small selection of meat compared to a place like Central Market -- what they do carry is the best of the best and is all local. If there's something particular you're looking for just call ahead a day or so and they should be able to take care of you. The owner and staff are extremely knowledgeable and passionate. I didn't know exactly what I wanted and they eagerly walked me through their favorites and helped me decide on some fantastic New York Strips and amazing sausage. The guys behind the counter (I'm terrible with names) were so friendly and helpful. Prices are comparable to Central Market if you've ever shopped for meat there. But the meat, if the brats I bought were anything to go by, is definitely way better and worth it. PS: if you're a fan of beef jerky at all, you have to get some here. It's phenomenal. read more

I always come here when I need some quality cuts of meat for a good meal-staff is knowledgeable, he products are great and they seem to have a wealth of fresh cheese and sausage options which I have not dove off into yet. Not a bad place to grab a steak if you can't make it into Dallas, Wagyu is not as expected but it's a good ribeye none the less ( just pricey for a piece of beef that I could buy almost anywhere). Staff seems to think of themselves as clever folks , when asked if they sold dog bones the two gentlemen snickered and came back with " we don't have dog bones but we have cow bones" oooohhh, like a mental gymnast he waited all day to perform. You can trust the other reviews, this place is lightning in a bottle. The quality speaks for itself but the skill this group has is noticeable right away. Don't feel like you can't ask questions or tell them what kind of gathering or meal you're planning! I typically go with my heart/stomach, and grab something fun or recommended. All I can say is WOW! We went in there Sunday evening because we have been looking for a good butcher shop. These guys have everything. Nothing goes to waste. The two gentlemen that were there were extremely knowledgeable about their products. They also said they may in the future process game. All the meat is locally sourced and NEVER frozen. What can I say! Nate you nailed if. It's the old Brit here and over the weekend you made me some authentic Italian meat balls. Unbelievably good. I briefly broiled them, then quickly browned them in a cast iron skillet 1 minute each side, added them to a pan of Classico Sauce from Costco and heated it all up. I served it Over organic spaghetti (Costco again) and WOW! They were firm, fat free, an amazing distant hint of caraway and sage with a hint of dill and ground pepper. I am not an accomplished cook, but this time I nailed it with your meat balls. Great job!!! I will see you on the weekend for more. Walked in to friendly staff and clean fresh air. Everything packaged to appeal to the eyes. I purchased the Spicy Italian sausage for a homemade meat sauce I was making that evening. It was made in house and it tasted very spicy and super delish! It was a great addition to my meat sauce. I will definitely purchase that again. I also purchased the Wagyu Ribeye. This is what I was going to use to judge this butcher shop by because I buy this on the regular at another store. Not only was it cheaper but it tasted better than what I was buying from a high-end named store. The marbling was great on it as well. I wanted to purchase some oxtails but they were sold out that morning. I drove over 40 miles to try this place and it was worth it. I will return to purchase oxtails but also the Quail. Who puts $10 a pound Nueske's bacon in their burgers...and then wraps them in caul fat??? Only Deep Cuts that I know of. Oh and by the way, THE BEST BURGER I HAVE EVER HAD...EVER. Let that sink in. I have had great burgers in my time...this city is full of them. None of them hold a candle to this burger. Frankly, I can't eat any other burgers anymore. Two weeks before Christmas I called Deep Cuts to special order center cut Filets. The discussion was specific in that the steaks were to be a single piece, not held together by string. On going to pick up the order my mistake was in not looking at the steaks before we left. A call was made to the butcher who said the order in the store did not specify Center cuts so he could do nothing. So....$60.00 later we were dissatisfied with the appearance of the steaks yet felt the quality of the meat would be excellent as always. After the steaks were grilled for our holiday dinner we noticed a strange aftertaste with our first bites. It was as if the steaks had been left out too long then placed back in the cooler. We did not/could not eat the steaks due to the taste-the fact that they were not felt to be safe to eat. Christmas was still wonderful yet our dinners were not!
