As someone who has lived in New Jersey my whole life and visited many parks and gardens, I can honestly say Deep Cut Gardens was one of the most beautiful places I've experienced in the state. We visited on a sunny day in early May around 11:30 AM. Not everything was fully in bloom yet, but the greenery, trees, shrubs, and gardens were absolutely beautiful and created such a peaceful, serene atmosphere. Parking is a bit limited, but we were able to find a spot fairly quickly. The grounds were easy to walk, beautifully maintained, and full of great photo spots. I also loved the maze garden area and the small reading/sunroom space, which added such a charming touch. I even saw people having picnics, and it immediately made me want to come back and do the same. Only small thing to note: we did notice some poison ivy in certain areas, so just be mindful. Overall, easy to get to, peaceful, and absolutely worth visiting. Already looking forward to coming back in June when everything is in full bloom. read more

Read about this place online and decided to take the drive and I was not disappointed. It is a beautiful slice of nature a lot of the plants are labeled. They also have a lily pond with fish as well. I chose to sit there for a few moments just watching the fish. I arrived when they opened to hopefully avoid a lot of people because I wanted to enjoy my first visit with the sounds of nature. I will definitely be back again as it offers a nice calm place to let your mind roam and allows you to decompress for a bit. read more

Deep Cut is one the most professional, meticulous rose garden I've ever seen in New Jersey. You'll find some rare David Austin roses in peak form. Many you'll be able to sniff up close. The layout is so thoughtfully planned that no trees block the sun-loving roses, providing full sun that's ideal for keeping them in top shape. So if you plan to spend a long time in the rose garden, wear sunscreen or bring a hat. The grounds are also lovely to walk around. read more

Found a video for this place on IG so I decided to go on a Saturday afternoon. A day outdoors was much needed and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring and walking in the sun. It looks like we just missed a lot of the rose and peony blooms but the garden was still very beautiful. There are plenty of picnic tables scattered about and fortunately it wasn't crowded. We witnessed a very brief and lovely wedding take place in the garden--congrats to the newlyweds! I definitely recommend stopping by here and making a day out of it, there are also plenty of eateries about a mile or two away. read more

I have visited the Deep Cut Gardens in the Spring, Summer and Fall- always beautiful views! Enjoy walking and exploring! This past weekend, noticed the greenhouse is now closed to the public! The orchids and roses are gorgeous when in bloom. Like the sounds of the running water as you walk. Remember not to feed fish! :) Parking on site. Restrooms available. There is a park across the street- TATUM & PARK RED HILL ACTIVITY CENTER And if you turn left existing the parking lot about 1 mile you reach the marker HISTORIC MINISINK TRAIL. My sister took us around Jersey when we visited and this was one of the places she wanted to show us and boy was I just in awe and love of this picturesque garden that was open to the public! We were there on a midweek day so parking was not crowded, but I'm sure if it was a weekend parking would've been a little hard to find. I feel in love with all the maples and bonsais they had there and even got to play around with the playful koi. Of course I didn't feed them, but just doing the hand gesture of feeding them made them come to the surface to greet us! A lot of thought and careful consideration was put into designing the garden and it shows! I just love the display of bonsais near the closed greenhouse. It was like bonsai heaven for me even though they weren't that old and some were still wired up to define their shapes. Sad the greenhouse was closed due to theft but, peaking in the windows was still nice to see all the awesome flora they had in there! Definitely would come back and visit this place again! read more

Nice place to go for a stroll. It's not very big but there are a lot of pretty flowers and a lot of grass to sit and have a picnic during the spring/summer. It looks like they're doing some construction as well on the trails so maybe they will be expanding the space a bit. Definitely recommend if you're looking to pass the time or go for a short nature walk. read more

You can actually improve your own garden by coming here and attending some of the lectures they provide. I have always driven past these gardens and decided this time to stop. There are 54 acres here including mini themed gardens, natural ponds, trails and meadow walks. The display greenhouse is very colorful with its variety of plants. I easily spent an interesting hour here. The park is open 8am to dusk. Free parking and no admission charges. Deep Cut Gardens is run by the Monmouth County Park System. read more

We actually did a 30-minute walking trail that brought you around the whole gardern area . Everyone there was overall very nice . I would highly recommend coming here . I had a great day exploring this park. The flowers were absolutely beautiful, and the grounds were extremely well kept. There is free parking. My friend was able to push her baby in a stroller throughout the grounds. There were plenty of benches and areas to sit and relax. read more

I paid a visit to Deep Cut Gardens to attend a family members Wedding Ceremony.....what a beautiful location! The flowers, shrubs and Roses make this place a perfect spot to picnic, relax and in my case enjoy a wonderful wedding. I have to give special kudos to a park employee, Emerald Platzer, Emerald went out of her way to assist my disabled Father in law allowing us to drive his car way past the parking lot just about to the spot where the wedding was held. Emerald guided the car in and really went above and beyond. Your kindness and service did not go unrecognized and it was appreciated. If in the area I highly recommend walking g through the park, checking out the waterfalls, koi pond and the gorgeous rose garden. Emerald....thank you again. read more

So lucky to have this beautiful park not far from where I live. Such a peaceful place to sit with a book or explore the picturesque gardens. There is a greenhouse, a banzai tree garden, koi pond, all different kids of roses, gazebo and nature trail. It is so beautiful that many couples come here to take their special photographs. Echoing the sentiments of other Yelpers, this free-admission 50+ acre garden is a hidden gem in the Garden State's perhaps under-appreciated collection of public gardens. Upon pulling into the parking lot off of Red Hill Road, you are immediately greeted by a kaleidoscopic flowerbed which beckon you to explore the nearby Lily Pond that is home to half a dozen koi fish, and the Horticultural Center that houses a modest library of botany- and horticulture-themed tomes--as well as the only restrooms on site. (According to the coffee table hardcover about Deep Cut Gardens' history, the estate was formerly owned by a mob boss.) Behind the Horticultural Center are a downward-sloping terrace of trees that strategically provide shade for wooden benches as well as a partial glimpse of the renowned labyrinth of shrubs in the distance--the Parterre/ Rose Garden. Weave your way through the Parterre and follow the paved path to the northeast corner of the gardens. Make a left at the end of the path to return whence you came via the cool and shade of maples, oaks, and chestnut trees on the Meadow Walk. But wait, there's more to see. Meander through the greenhouse--home to a myriad of potted cacti--and then past the impressive collection of bonsai plants outside. Finally, for a dazzling burst of color to finish your journey, continue south to the Display Gardens, a resplendent array of flowers actively watered and maintained even in the summer heat for your viewing (and smelling) pleasure. If you have time to kill afterwards and feel adventurous, why not kill two birds with one stone and head across the street to Tatum Park, which has a playground for kids and five different trails. read more

Deep Cut Gardens is a beautiful place to escape the everyday hardships. It is tranquil, peaceful, and quiet and it also is a wonderful place to safely get out of the house while practicing social distancing. (Definitely make sure to wear a mask when walking through the greenhouse and/or if you cannot maintain a safe distance!) The gardens are well kept and the grounds are extremely clean. We saw a variety of wildlife including butterflies, birds, and frogs. The flowers are vibrant, abundant and are just so beautiful to take in. There is a beautiful koi pond, flower garden, rose garden, a natural pond, a bonsai tree garden, a greenhouse, and a lovely waterfall. While there we saw people taking wedding and pregnancy photos; it is certainly a beautiful place for a photo shoot! We also saw some people enjoying picnics which I thought was a great idea. Keep in mind: the grounds are hilly and there are a lot of steps, but it is also wheelchair accessible with ramps and flat surfaces. There are also lots of benches to relax on, as well as maps available while you navigate. It was difficult walking around in the heat when not in the shaded areas, so if you're going to visit in the summer, I'd recommend coming in the morning or early evening when it's cooler. Make sure to designate a few hours to spend here, you'll want to take your time strolling around and taking in the beauty! read more

Such a gorgeous area and I visited here during the winter-time! I am very excited to see just how beautiful it is during spring. While most of the outdoor plants weren't flourishing, the cacti and other low-maintenance plants were thriving in the greenhouse. I couldn't believe the place wasn't packed with people, however, I'm sure it gets busy during the warmer months. I would definitely recommend visiting. What a beautiful garden and forest! You can really get lost with your thoughts enjoying a walk through this gem. This is a great place to clear your mind from city life. They offer coniferous, deciduous, and cacti forests. There was also an impressive collection of bonsai trees only rivaled by that of major city botanic gardens. Everything was so well manicured yet in some areas made to appear wild. There's a living garden where you can see the seasonal plants that can grow naturally in the area. In the back there's a formal garden that reminds me of palais Versia. I would definitely return. read more

i love deep cut gardens! i've been coming here since i was a kid to look at the greenery, to look at the cute cacti and other plants in the greenhouse, look at the koi fish in the pond, or to just take pictures with my family. i've seen people take wedding photos here and graduation photos and prom photos, and the scenery looks absolutely beautiful, especially in the spring and summer. so happy i can visit this so locally! read more
