A comment about the service dog comment from Laurie B: Deemo's Meat store is less than 500 square feet where one, in certain areas of the store, has to be careful navigating through very narrow food aisles. And why do you HAVE to bring your dog into a store????? To push your "service dog" agenda on a small town store and then make a crappy review on Yelp that has nothing to do with the excellent products and service they offer is more of an attestation to your lack of character than that of Deemo's excellent presence in our small town. I went into Deemo's for the first time about 2 weeks ago. I was looking for some Tri tip. Checked the local store nearby but nothing to my satisfaction. Went to Deemos and I was surprised by all the extras they sell. They have cool g oils, seasoning, cheeses, even ready to cook pizzas. Very nice store. The butcher showed me the Tri Tip and the price was reasonable. When I took them home the meat had very little fat as it was all trimmed. The meat was very tender. I will be buying my meats from Deemo's from now on. read more

100% stop here for your grocery needs when staying nearby!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVED going to Deemo's! We went multiple times during our week long stay this summer. The store is so great, filled to the brim with interesting sauces, spices, jellies, carbs, treats and more that I found myself finding something completely new each time I visited. His beef is legendary. You can't go wrong with any of the steaks in that case. We grilled such excellent steaks (ribeyes, porterhouse, and top sirloin) from here it makes me wistful for Montana beef. The garlic tritip steak is unique to Deemo's and award winning. We cooked it up our first night and ate slices of it all week. We had it as sandwiches, scrambled with eggs, and even ate it just straight out of the fridge. Absolutely get this if you visit. The pizzas are also extraordinary. There are so many options! We did the pepperoni, which of course features Deemo's pepperoni, and it cooked up sooooo delicious. The Pizzas are definite crowd pleasers and cook right in their pan. Deemo's breakfast sausage was delicious and cooked with such little fat in it. Super yum. I ADORED the jalapeño cheddar brats. Those are a must order next time. Even the jerky is incredible. The original flavor has enough of a sleeper spice on it that for those of you who like mild, you may find it too spicy (I think it's perfect). I recommend the teriyaki too. Fresh fish arrives on Thursdays!!! This is a wonderful store with everything you need for delicious dinner makings in Montana. Can't wait to return next summer! read more

Worst service I've ever experienced as a non resident hunter. I had eye rolls and sighs when I brought elk quarters in meat bags which I had to pack out from the back country so they couldn't charge me a skinning fee. I was then told I had to have my meat shipped with no rush processing fee available. No specific price was provided, I was told " It could be $3-$6 a pound to ship" Yea do the math for an elk. I had a change of plans and went back 3 days later to pick up my meat. My back straps were sealed in a plastic bag for three days. I was then berated by the owner (Chris) who yelled at me across the room why I didn't tell him I just wanted to pay a hang fee in the first place. He then made it a point to charge me extra than the normal hang fee since he initially wasn't told. Seems like a business just trying to take advantage of people or nonresidents specifically. My hunting party had the same interactions with this business and employees during the same season. I will never go back there and don't be fooled by the good reviews like we were. read more

This little market has an amazing variety of gourmet foods... from pickled eggs to delicious take+bake pies made locally. But the star of the show is definitely MEAT. They consistently have the best tasting and most beautiful meat every day. And they will cut to order. Reading the other reviews, we must have gone there when the butcher was angry about something. This happened last year in the first part of July 2019. We asked for country style ribs, for some reason he didn't seem pleased about our order, he hacked away at the meat, it was uneven, couple of pieces were basically chunks. We will never go here again because of the terrible service we got. The prior owners Restvedt were way better, we had gone there for years, every few weeks we'd stop by and order at least $100 or more for the whole summer and fall. I harvested an elk the day before Thanksgiving (late in the season) and called and asked if they could process it for me, and they said yes! Note, I explained that I was leaving early the next week and I was driving back to Massachusetts. They got my elk processed and frozen and it made the trip home perfectly! We bought pork shoulder steaks and cooked two of them for dinner tonight. They were delicious! We also purchased two types of their home made jerky. It was amazing! I visited Deemo's this past weekend while in Montana. The owner of the shop was very helpful and personable. The shop has a huge variety of meats ranging from beef all the way to buffalo. Gah. What to say about Deemos. It's one of my favorite places to shop. It's the size of a Typical small butcher but they have everything. I have literally been able to do 100% of my shopping in Deemos. From butter to eggs to local organic greens, stop here before venturing on to the grocery store up the street. They make their own jerky (don't pass it up), their own elk and buffalo summer sausage, and they carry game steaks either fresh or frozen, plus pastas and pies...I could go on. We stopped by shop on the way to 3 Forks from West Yellowstone. We were amazed when we walked into this gem of a market.We were like kids in a candy shop. Baklava, smoked gouda, Lebanon bologna, sausages-boudin, German and Italian , water crackers and JERKy (best I ever had) oh my! I'm a business owner and also a pretty easy going guy. I'm 65, been hunting and fishing all my life, used processors and process myself. He did a mulie buck for me first, no problem. A bit of a cold disposition, but I knew that going in - I've had a cabin there for 30 years and know the back story, etc.. On our elk, a couple days later, we booked it in directly with the boss - clean quarters, some trim - requested it broke down and wrapped basically - and got a quote of 170 or so for the 2 antlerless elk. He did not want to store it for us til our summer scouting trip (of course, we would expect to pay for locker space) but we said we could come back skiing, and my partner picked it up a couple months later during the Holidays. Whole dialogue - like the others I've had with Chris - a bit abrupt. He's busy, it's hunting season, blah, blah. Ok; get a different occupation if you don't like the public or dealing with meat. What we got was plastic unmarked bags of about 10 lbs apiece. I wasn't there, but - have been hunting with my buddy, best friends, country neighbors since junior high - here's what happened. As he is trying to understand why the meat bags aren't marked or in any way identified as to cuts, or trim, etc, loading it into coolers, etc., he loads out and signs off on the credit card. My buddy delivers my share, and we have to just eenie meenie it out, one for you, one for me type thing - no idea who was going to get what. Now, this means I have to individually thaw and process all these bags one by one, all over again, to see what I have. These are cheap thin plastic bags like you would buy ice in, so even if I could identify it as something to freeze for later consumption, I can't trust the bag. This has the practical outcome preventing me from making sausage, due to my own logistics, so I made a lot of jerky and re-packed the (scanty) good stuff. There was a lot of waste, so the dog ate well. Some spoiled meat, but I won't lay that off on Deemo's except to say that it went in there clean and cool, late Oct. Hard to not wonder if he just off loaded a bunch of trim on us, the way this scenario was playing out. OK; My buddy then called me a month or so later to tell me that he got the credit card bill. $450 bucks. That's about what it would cost to butcher whole critters and process it right - cut and wrapped. So, he calls Deemo's. Now, my pal emphasized to me that he knows he can get testy, and managed that characteristic in his phone chat. Talking to Chris, it was apparent that Chris did not note (or remember) that we brought in quarters. In fact, he soon cut my buddy off, saying he couldn't talk to him, and handed the phone to his counter lady, who reached a compromise with my pal on the money. I have always found the staff to be pleasant, Chris seems to be the only testy one. So - - an uncaring disposition. - either an careless or unconcerned approach to logging the job in. - Unwilling to locker it for us - not a problem, just a bit odd. - product unlabelled and not freezer ready if it was. - Charged as if the animals were brought in whole and done right. - Unwilling to calmly and clearly discuss a valid customer issue - I'll lay half of that on my buddy, but I know he would not have gone in guns blazing - just calling in to point out the error. When I stayed at my outfitter buddy's earlier that season, and we discussed where to process, they said they would not use Deemo's, which would have been 75 miles closer, but instead drove to Bozeman. I think that speaks volumes. Anyone can make an error or two, but I think patient civility and getting the jist of the order correct is pretty much mandatory. I can't take another chance on that guy, or wish to have any more unfriendly - almost confrontational - conversations with him. He'd do better staying on the back counter and let someone with a pro-service mentality handle the retail. read more

Just happened to see the store as we were driving around town. I am so glad I stopped. As I was walking around the store, one of the employees gave me a teriyaki beef jerky sample that was delicious. Great selection of hand cut meats, cheeses, pasta, jarred goods, frozen crab, lobster, fish, Cornish hens, their own selection of sausages and brats, and many other items. As an after thought as I was checking out I bought a few of the jerky pieces. On the way home from Deemo's my husband ate both jerky pieces! Next day, as we were on our way out of town, I stopped to pick up more sausage, and picked up a few pounds of an assortment of teriyaki, pepper and chili jerky.
