Dr Xiao is very nice and knowledgeable. I was very anxious going into the appointment and now my nerves are calmed. I believe my son is in great care.

We've been going to SC EN&T Medical Group at 550 Water St. in Santa Cruz for several years for our…read moremother who will be 100 years old in just a few months. On April 14th I called because the tip of the hearing aid got stuck in my mother's ear. It usually takes 5-10 minutes for them to remove the piece. The hearing aid also needed a minor repair which also normally takes just 5-10 minutes. I called at 9:15 and left a message explaining the issue, but didn't receive a call back. I called again at 10:30 and the receptionist told me she would call us back. By 1:00 we hadn't heard from them so I had to take my mother to Sutter Urgent Care which took two hours. By the end of the day, we still had not heard from SC EN&T Medical Group. The next day, I took the hearing aid into the Water St. location for the repair. While I was trying to explain what needed to be done to one person, the receptionist who I talked to on the phone the previous day interrupted and claimed she tried to call us back. Well, we all know our cell phones provide a list of incoming and outgoing calls and none of the three phone numbers (mine, my sister's, or my mother's) shows a call from SC EN&T and no message was left. This review gets two stars only because the woman who helped me when I dropped off the hearing aid for repair (I think "Molly") was gracious, ready to listen, and it was ready to be picked up within an hour after I dropped it off. I understand the office is busy and people need to wait in line for service, but at the same time, consideration should be given when you know you have a 100 year-old client with a problem that can be fixed in 5-10 minutes. Instead, we had to go to Urgent Care where our mother was potentially exposed to sick people and falling asleep in the waiting room. I also do not appreciate being interrupted while I'm trying to explain a concern. Be respectful.

This review is solely based on my experience with PA Jennifer Lyons. I'm told that she bounces…read morearound between this main location on Soquel and the second location in Aptos (on Old Dominion Ct), but I saw her at this location. Lyons is not my main provider, but I saw her that day to get a referral and I was told no other providers were available that day. She listened to my problem, but didn't do a whole lot to help me solve it. I explained that the pain in my jaw had been getting worse in the past couple days and asked if the referral to a surgeon could be expedited after she told me it would take at least 4-5 days to be processed. She said no, that's how long the process takes. I then asked if she knew if my swollen gums were possibly caused by a bacteria and if I could get anti-inflammatory medication to help as I wait for a referral. She was short with me, answering only with, "I don't know. I wouldn't know if it's bacterial." She was completely unsympathetic and slightly argumentative, not doing anything to make me less worried and scared about this whole ordeal. I also found out that she wrote "routine" instead of "urgent" for the referral status she put in for me, even after I'd told her this is an emergency and I had been continuously taking pain meds to relieve my pain for the past week.

However, I need assistance loading my chair back into my car after the appointment. That seems like a reasonable accommodation, but I've had recent appointments at three different PAMF locations in Santa Cruz County and in every case I've ben told they'd love to help but can't because it's against policy. My pharmacy, my dentist, Dignity Health, my hairdresser, UPS, and many local shops don't hesitate to provide this service. I'm shocked and frustrated that PAMF does not.
