Needed to get some large taxidermy -- an 11 foot long marlin, a huge moose head and big horn sheep head from Casper, Wyoming to Morongo Valley, CA.... not easy to find someone. Stafford warned me that inexpensive, consolidated long-distance delivery services often misplace items and/or are late to deliver, but I went with the latter anyway because it was half the cost. Well, I got what I paid for: I did get all my stuff, but not until 3 weeks after the other company originally scheduled my delivery. Imagine that you're moving from SF to Oakland (joining the mass exodus) and, let's also imagine you're struggling to find transportation for bona fide divas of the plant world - namely, a 15-foot tall ficus tree that drops its leaves when you say 'boo', and some exotic plants with leaf canopies that spread 8 feet out and aren't super fond of change. I called Flora Grubb, a rather high-end nursery here in SF, asking if they had any recommendations for someone they'd trust - and they gave me Stafford's name. I texted Stafford photos of the plants, he returned a prompt and altogether reasonable quote, his guys were available right when I needed them, and they arrived right on time with very clever ways to maneuver and secure these creatures in their truck (it involved sand bags and magic, presumably). I needed a Craigslist find picked up from Pittsburg (CA!) to my house in Oakland. I called on Saturday and my item was picked up on Sunday, exactly on time. I found the company's name on Clar's Auction site, and thought that would be good, since this was an Art Deco armoire with Bakelite handles. I wanted service beyond run-of-the-mill hoist it and plop it down. Stafford was professional and communicative throughout. He was polite, prompt, and extremely careful of the instrument. And his price was very reasonable. He and his helper earned a tip because delivery required removing the legs, carrying the instrument down uneven outside stairs, and reinstallation of the legs. I highly recommend Stafford for a move. The drivers were courteous and efficient, even offering to unwrap the couch from its protective covering.
