You know how the internal conversation goes with yourself; uuggg.... "I have to hire a contractor for XYZ", schedule site visits, get quotes, follow up questions.... by the time you've had 6 companies come to your house, you just want it over with. Last year we started our adventure of getting a new fence installed. I called the "big 2" fence companies in the area (you know who they are). I had to re-read the quotes several times. Simple 6ft vinyl/PVC grey fence with post caps and spring hinged latching gate. I asked "would the fence be gold plated? or does this price include the rest of the neighborhood?" Niether thought I was funny. Late winter this year (2026) we decided to contact medium size/ more local companies. Every estimator we met was personable and knowledgeable. But Fabio from Fence 101 (owner) came prepared with samples, booklets, and the most important thing.... time. He and I walked around my yard, assessed what I had, gave suggestions, showed me options, discussed materials and we talked about family/kids etc. It was like talking to that new person you meet, that you immediately have repour with. He is really a quality gentleman. (I have a Gibbs gut that says so). All the quotes we received this year were within a hundred bucks or so of eachother. Price was not the major factor in our decision to hire F101, but their price the most economical and competitive. The install crew arrived when they were scheduled and worked ALL day; of both two days. They didn't bang out at 2pm like most contractors, these guys were gettin' it done. When I asked them questions about panels, post depth, wind resistance, yadda yadda, they stopped working, took the time to fully answer my queries and were happy to engage. These guys were hard working, strong, accurate and respectful of my small piece of the world. And they were having fun. In two days 95% of the job was complete. The gate and post tops came on a separate order. The gate arrived at Fabio's shop the wrong color. He contacted me right away, and informed me he already had the correct color on order. It was being delivered the next day and would be installed ASAP ... on a SATURDAY! SATURDAY? Really? I was impressed. Fabio himself and (what I believed to be) his lead field person, installed the post caps and gate before I got home from grocery shopping. (my wife being away on a trip) They had it complete by 10:30 AM. Boom! It was done. Seriously 5 stars . When the Queen returned she was blown away! She was stunned as to how awesome it looked. Fence 101 asks for half down deposit, which more than resonible. They have a bunch of colors available with different posts caps and hardware. Materials are USA local NY. Price includes install and material warranty. They also took my 40 year old stockade fence down for recycling. Fabio followed up with us after the job to make sure there were no issues. I'm including some pictures and videos (from my security cameras) of the work; his crew removing the old fence, installing the new, etc. One vid clip is Fabio on the phone with me discussing which way the gate should open/close/swing/latch. And check out his dancing moves! I will be following up with Fence 101 to purchase gate handles, that I forgot to add to the initial install. Allain Construction is excellent. Really fantastic…read more We hired them in the fall to do a bunch of small jobs around the house, which when considered together turned into a semi-large job. The last of these was an actual large job, specifically, enlarging the usable space in our finished basement, and replacing our boiler and water heater with new, energy-efficient equipment. Peter was so easy to work with, presented us with all of our options, answered all of our questions (of which there were about a million), was very prompt in returning voice mails and/or emails, and never hesitated to meet with us in person if he thought that would be a more helpful way to communicate or answer our question. Not only that, but the project ended up turning into a two-stage process, with "everything but the boiler and water heater" going first, and then "boiler and water heater" coming a few weeks after, because we were also dealing with securing energy efficiency financing and other stuff. Peter was very understanding about the paperwork that had to be filed, and with the scheduling; he was more than happy to break up the project and work with our schedule, and he was in touch frequently in the interim time, in case we had any questions or needed anything more from him. Ultimately, the job was done beautifully and we were very satisfied with the results. Fast forward four months and we are searching for a company/contractor to update our first floor with hardwood floors... as coincidence would have it, we had someone at the house at the same time that Peter arrived at the house to follow up on something with the previous project and discuss an aspect of the flooring project that a flooring-only company would not have been able to do (since it was not actually "floors" work). Since he was there anyway, he ended up talking about our new project with us, and suggested a flooring product that we had never heard of but which sounded like it would suit our needs perfectly. Within a few days he was back, with samples, a cost proposal, etc., and we hired him a second time, to do the entire job. Bonus points for not having to coordinate two contractor schedules. The floors (and a LOT of other small things that went along with them) were done mostly while we were away on vacation, which was fantastic. We came back and it was like a new house! On the days that they were working while we were still home, Peter's team always put furniture back and packed their things away so that our lives were as un-disrupted as possible. They left the house clean (as much as is possible with the sawdust), they followed up with all of my questions (of which there were, once again, about a million), they took care of all the details that we didn't even think of when we set the job up or conceived of it in the beginning. Peter was in regular communication with us to make sure everything was going the way we wanted, explained everything that his team was doing and anything they might need to continue. The job came out great, and we get tons of compliments on how it looks. I am very happy with it, and next time we have a project that's too big for us we will probably just call Peter first and skip the consultation process altogether.

Allain Construction is excellent - best contractor around. Had them turn a 1/2 bath into a full…read morebath and it was an amazing job. We picked some tough material, like river stone for the shower base and a wall - difficult to work with, but it looks great. Then had them do the upstairs bath. We upgraded this bath to include a Bain air tub. We didn't like the look of a boring white skirt, so Allain Construction worked with us to design a beautiful tiled skirt. We ended up having them do some additional work like - new interior doors, some wallboard and painting, etc. Everything came out great. Lastly, I wanted to redo out patio - they put me in touch with a landscaper who is awesome and did a fantastic job.

I saw Martins did the walkway of a neighbor and he absolutely recommended them. Nathan was out quickly, gave us some options, let us go back and forth with some design choices, and let us arrive at a layout we wanted. Nathan followed up frequently and while our decision took about a month, one we were booked they were out in a few weeks and had everything done in a week. It was amazing seeing the progress as they tore out the old structure, setup the new base and stonework. I held off on a review because I wanted to see how it functioned in Rain & snow and they did a terrific job ensuring water was directed away from the house and it is so much easier to shovel and really adds to the curb appeal of our home.

Owner is a poor business man. Be ware! Was very demanding…read moreregarding payment for awning in full and then leaving it unattended at a loading dock for me to pick up by myself. He also demanded payment in full, prior to ordering. His wife called me two days prior to what he claimed was a factory price increase and instructed me to ZELLE funds to his account. I did so, but ZELLE would not do an immediate transfer (two days). The bank provided him with legitimate confirmation of payment codes for proof of payment. He refused to accept them. At the end of our telephone conversation, he began to swear at me profusely and wanted a 100% money wire to cover payment. In the end, his poor behavior showed his true colors as a shady business man.
