    Andhra Curry

First off, it takes voodoo and sorcery to find good parking- just be patient or prepared to walk a bit. We came in one Saturday early evening and were seated on the restaurant side (note: they have a cool lounge side with full bar. sofa seating and tvs+music creating a vibe). This was our first time here and while the website menu feels like an infinite scroll trap, you get ipads at the tables with pictures to order from. Starters: Cauliflower Manchurian- we asked for the mildest possible for our 9 yr old. Crisp cauliflower with ginger, garlic, spring onions and sesame. This came out chef hot! Our son drank a bottle of water within a record 2 minutes. Even I thought this was too hot to be mild. My wife tried to wash it down with a salted lassi but even that was overly salty and sent back. Oh boy, not a great start- I could already feel my disappointment building. Chandni Chowk Paneer Tikka- Ok redemption! This was delicious and the flavor was well balanced. I only wish it was a tiny bit charred (I am weird like that). Andhra Vegetable Curry - curry leaves, tamarind and yogurt. Ok when you see the picture do not get discouraged - this was a banger! Delicious if you like savory and a nice veer from sweeter creamier sauces that flood menus. Paneer Makhani Biryani- the paneer goodness is at the bottom so you can even enjoy the aromatic rice separately. My wife loved this dish and I loved the execution. Another note: Our 15 month old was itching to roam and the staff were all amazing even offering to watch him while we ate! Super attentive and fantastic customer service. Thank goodness for the immediate turnaround after the initial dish- we will definitely be back!

    Special biryani?

Mediocre. I don't understand the praise for the biryani. I got the biryani and it is just a basic biryani there is not a lot of sauce other than the sauce you are intended to pour on the top of it. Another thing I ordered takeout and I found that they had forgotten several items and if you look through these reviews you will see they often forget a lot of items. This place charge $26 for a decon spice special biryani and all that means is that it has boneless chicken and comes with some samosas that are filled with cabbage. Cabbage and onions and some other spices which is not usually what a samosa is filled with. Maybe because they're mini samosas? I don't know. Makes not a lot of sense. was it terrible? No, it wasn't terrible. The food is edible you can enjoy most of it. But is there better in the area? oh most definitely it's not even close. I would go over to Rasoi for the biryani any day. It comes with sauce and it has the proper amount of sauce or spice in the biryani. Which is how it should be. And their samosas are regular old samosas that you expect when you order a samosa. Maybe the positive reviews are for the amount of food that you get at this place, because the biryani is quite large but other than that I probably won't be back.

Do not eat here. We ordered a family pack tray of butter chicken and it had nearly 200 ml of oil sitting on top, which was excessive and completely unacceptable. When I raised this concern, the manager was dismissive and arrogant, telling me it was "rogan" and that I had no idea about North Indian food. Instead of listening or taking responsibility, he chose to be defensive and disrespectful. The food quality was so poor that it made me and my friends sick, yet there was no apology, no accountability, and no attempt to resolve the issue. On top of that, they offer students 20% off in exchange for positive reviews, which makes many of their ratings questionable. This was an extremely unprofessional experience, and I strongly advise others to stay away.

We were seated immediately despite going there for saturday dinner. Service was receptive and fast. Seemed like there were two separate areas for above 21 groups and family groups. We ordered the Gobi Manchurian for appetizers, highly recommend. We also got the Egg dum biryani (spicy level) and Egg gongura biryani (medium spice level). The medium spice was somehow spicer than our other biryani. But overall really good food, on the slightly more expensive side

After an adventure-filled day in New York, what could be more perfect than unwinding with some comforting Indian food? Our craving led us straight to Little India near the PATH station in Jersey City, a hub of authentic Indian culinary gems. If you're familiar with the area, you know finding parking can be a feat in itself, but we got lucky with a curbside spot close by. We headed into Deccan Spice, a restaurant with a great reputation for modern Indian cuisine. Walking in, we were immediately struck by the ambiance: warm and inviting, with a lovely fusion of traditional Indian elements and contemporary decor that makes the place feel both cozy and sophisticated. The lighting was soft, the decor tasteful, and the entire place had a buzz of friendly energy, amplified by the attentive and courteous staff who greeted us warmly and got us seated right away. As soon as we settled, a bowl of colorful fryums landed on our table. These crispy, airy wafers were a nostalgic start to the meal, bringing a touch of Indian homely food right to the table. Lightly salted and perfectly crunchy, they were just the thing to nibble on as we browsed the menu. We decided to begin with the Bantod Tandoori Chicken and what a way to start! The chicken was a visual treat, arriving on a sizzling platter that wafted irresistible smoky aromas around the table. This dish was the epitome of tandoori perfection, with the chicken tender and marinated to the bone, balancing a lovely smokiness with a hint of heat and a rich blend of spices. The exterior was charred just enough to lock in the flavors, while the meat inside remained juicy, with every bite offering a burst of layered flavors. The tandoori masala wasn't overpowering but instead let the natural flavors of the chicken shine through, making it impossible not to savor every bite. Next came the Paneer Makhani, with Lachha Paratha and Butter Naan. Paneer Makhani was rich, creamy, and deeply comforting. The paneer itself was soft, fresh, and perfectly textured, absorbing the luscious, velvety sauce that surrounded it. The makhani sauce was a masterful blend of tomatoes, butter, and spices, balanced to perfection--just the right amount of sweetness with a depth of flavor that felt like a warm hug in a bowl. It was seasoned so skillfully that the buttery richness didn't overwhelm, and the spices were gentle yet satisfying, making it ideal for soaking up with the fresh Lachha Paratha and Butter Naan. The paratha was beautifully flaky, with each layer adding a slight crunch that complemented the softness of the makhani sauce. The butter naan, warm and pillowy, was a perfect match, soaking up the sauce effortlessly and bringing out even more flavor in each bite. And then came the highlight: the Deccan Special Biryani. This biryani felt like a trip back to India in itself, with every single grain of rice cooked to perfection and infused with aromatic spices that filled the air. Unlike many biryanis that can be greasy or overly spicy, this one struck an ideal balance--the rice was light, the flavors complex, and the whole dish was layered with spices in a way that made each bite unique. The chicken in the biryani was tender, with just the right amount of spices, adding a nice contrast to the fragrant rice. The biryani was served with cooling raita, which offered a refreshing balance to the spices, making it a completely satisfying and flavorful experience. For a bit of variety, we also tried the Shrimp Biryani, which was just as spectacular. The shrimp were cooked just right, tender and juicy, blending harmoniously with the spiced rice. Each bite delivered a bit of sweetness from the shrimp paired with the earthy, aromatic flavors of the biryani. The spices were distinct yet never overwhelming, creating a balanced profile that let the seafood flavors shine through beautifully. By the end, we were full but fully satisfied, with every craving met and exceeded. Each dish at Deccan Spice had its own unique twist, showcasing the depth and diversity of Indian cuisine while remaining true to traditional flavors. It was one of those meals where every choice felt like a highlight, a rare experience where every item was memorable in its own way. From the ambiance and the impeccable service to the unforgettable flavors of each dish, Deccan Spice deserves every bit of praise. It's clear they've mastered the art of making each meal feel like a culinary experience, leaving us with a feeling of contentment and a genuine five-star experience. If you're ever near the PATH station in Jersey City and in the mood for Indian food, Deccan Spice should be at the top of your list.

The food was OK and slightly overpriced. We got the Gobi Manchurian for appetizers, which was flavorful. For mains we got the Dal makhani and paneer Makani. The paneer Makani was really flavorful, and Naans were also hot and nice. We also got the paneer biryani, which was definitely the best Food we had that night.

I want to order biryani but does this restaurant offer extra meat in their biryani orders? I see lot of posts saying not enough meat. If I pay a little more can I guarantee extra meat?

There were a large variety of choices for the buffet, and I tried a little bit of everything. It was all cooked well and wonderfully flavorful with tons of warm seasonings. Stand outs included butter chicken, noodles, curry, and tandoori. I would have liked more seafood options and meat other than chicken though. The Naan was served warm and slightly crisp, while still being soft. I decided to also order a drink called Shahi Falooda. Since I never tried it, I didn't know how it was supposed to look, even though I thought the presentation was a bit weird, as there were pieces of toast dredged in the liquid. When I tried it, there seemed to be all the flavors described, including rose almond milk, tutti frutti, and vanilla ice cream. It tasted creamy, sweet, and unique, with the ingredients mingling well together. Service was definitely lacking. When the bill came, it was listed as a dessert, so I inquired about it. The waiter responded that they did not have the beverage available, so served me something else instead. This really irked me that the waiter would knowingly do this without mentioning up front that they were out of the beverage, allowing me the free choice to either order another drink or not get one at all. The waiter then told us it would be taken off the bill, but a different waiter came out to inform us that the manager would not allow that. While the food was actually pretty good, this was a very upsetting experience and I will not be returning. At least this taught me to always speak up when I have a doubt or question about anything I order.

I don't know why people would say Dahi Puri Chaat is good here---I saw that in reviews on Google…read moremaps and so ordered via DoorDash since I had ordered food from a nearby kebab place. Anyway they didn't even actually make the dahi puri! They just put the puri with some potatoes dry in a container and then on the side gave tiny chutney containers for the yogurt, tamarind sauce & green chutney. Ok if you're putting it separately to avoid sogginess then at least give enough for the dish. It was laughable how stingy they were. Dahi puri is supposed to have LOTS of yogurt and instead this minuscule container of completely watery "yogurt" was not even enough to fill 2 of the puri. $10 plus tax & tip for this?? Also since they didn't make anything why did they keep the driver waiting for SO long? What a complete waste of money & time.
