What a train wreck…read more.. I have given very few 2 star ratings in all the reviews I have done over the last 10 years but this was bad. We wanted to try something new in Heath and Thiango's popped up so we tried it. The interior is nicely decorated but it still had some Christmas decorations up in mid February so that should have been a clue that something was a little off. When we got seated and settled in we realized that it was really cold interior restaurant - like 60 degrees cold. The waiter, Shawn, was horrible forgot our drink order - 3 times. He suggested having the seafood so that is what we had. I had the seafood platter which was OK - the salmon was over cooked and they forgot to put the crab in it. When I pointed out the lack of crab they told me they would get me a side of shrimp? Wifie had the salmon platter with linguini covered in rose vodka sauce which the salmon was over cooked but the rose vodka sauce was really good. It took forever to get the food out and the waiter stopped by so infrequently that our drinks spent more time empty than one could imagine. They offered to bring us more bread but they ran out. The bread was good also. This would have been a great place to dine if it was not for the poor service, the overcooked fish, the cold temperature of the resturant, the forgotten crab, the empty drinks, this lack of bread, ...

Our experience was great! Short review summary: Kids eat free on Sunday made the process awesome,…read moreservice was very good, and food was pretty good. Decor was fine despite the remnants of the old brand still there. More info, for those that care: In my type A personality I noticed a lot. Sure there is still decor that needs attention, like Christmas lights still up (must be a choice on purpose), a few paint locations need touched up, and yes, three surfboards still mounted to the ceiling from the old restaurant, but it didn't change the ambiance much. Music was nice (smooth jazz was playing) and most of all, food was pretty good and price was great. The free appetizer bread was really good, my Chicken Marsala was good, and my wife's Chicken Alfredo was really good. The kids spaghetti and Alfredo cheese ravioli were good too. Nothing tasted like Olive Garden, it had a unique local taste (BTW if you didn't know OG pasta is just bagged and boiled- as someone who works in the kitchen, they'll tell you). Overall the food was cooked well, sauce tastes handmade - salad dressing on my side salad definitely did (balsamic) and despite there being some generic things like iceberg lettuce and generic mushrooms, it tasted pretty good. I think what made it the best was our service, which was outstanding. The place was a ghost town, there was one other party there and us. So we should have had great service. The main host/waiter was great though despite the good timing (he welcomed us and responded to anything we needed quickly). Finally, the price was awesome! We got 2 adult meals and 2 kids meals, with kids eat free on Sundays, so our bill was $43 before tip. Overall we hope to go back and try another time. If you haven't been recently, you should definitely go back and try it again!

If you're looking for a spot that consistently hits the mark on both flavor and atmosphere,…read moreElliot's Wood Fired Kitchen & Tap is a must-visit. Whether it's a mid-week dinner or a weekend hangout, they managed to nail the "elevated neighborhood gem" vibe perfectly. The Food The star of the show is undoubtedly the wood-fired pizza. You can taste the authenticity in the crust--perfectly charred with that signature smoky finish you can only get from a real wood oven. The toppings are fresh, and the balance of flavors shows they aren't just making pizza; they're perfecting it. On the lighter (but equally delicious) side, the fish tacos are a standout. It's rare to find a wood-fired joint that treats seafood with this much respect. The fish is always flaky and fresh, complemented by bright, crisp toppings that make for a perfect contrast to the rich, smoky pizzas. The Service What truly sets Elliot's apart, though, is the bar staff. The service here is consistently top-notch. The team is incredibly knowledgeable--whether you're looking for a specific craft beer pairing or a recommendation from their cocktail list, they know the menu inside and out. It's the kind of place where the staff makes you feel like a regular from your very first visit. Final Verdict: Excellent food, a great tap list, and a team that actually knows their stuff. Elliot's is easily a 5-star experience.

And apparently has a core memory of a fun family gathering there, so she wanted to go. I did not, but when it's almost 2 and you haven't eaten lunch sometimes the kid wins. Who am I kidding, she almost always does, because there has to be something for her to eat and that's not always true at my Chinese and Indian and Korean picks. It was packed, at 2pm on a Saturday. Newark has a decent amount of choices, and yet everybody was here? Harumph. Got right in though, and service was frazzled but reasonably quick and super friendly. Kid K got kid-menu mac and cheese, side of fries, and upgraded to a smoothie. She liked all of it. And the salad and breadsticks, though I think the endless parmesan was what really sold her. She asked for lots on the salad, even some on the fries and mac. Portions were big, a good thing since she is now a bigger kid. I went small since I figured the breadsticks and salad would make up part of my meal. The "lighter" lasagna. And it was a small portion, but it did end up being enough with the "free" stuff. No leftovers, of course. And I didn't really care, because it just wasn't that great. Olive Garden's specialty is good-enough sorta-Italian. And with so many other options it is never my choice. The lasagna was like a frozen one. Frankly a "premium" frozen one would probably be better. Oh, well. Free refills on my pretty-good lemonade (not Minute-Maid, the "classic lemonade" I think.) Great service, as I said. Not super pricey. I survived.

After being asked if I wanted extra cheese on each meal, I asked if there was an up-charge. She said yes, 50¢. I expressed that this is not a fair tactic to get up-charges. I've worked several fast food jobs in the past and know that corporate does not mandate tricky up-charge policies like that. She interrupted me and said "it's policy". I replied that I understood it wasn't her fault and that I would just be calling corporate to express my dissatisfaction with this policy. She snapped at me "well it's a corporate policy sooooo". I was taken aback by her tone. I took a breath and said "I understand." Before I could finish, she said "and you can leave, I'm not serving you." I could hear staff in the background giggling. Update: As a loyal customer at their Johnstown location, I've been ordering from them at least once…read morea week via DoorDash since they opened. Tonight, I found out they charged me $.86 for a packet of mayonnaise for an Italian sub and an extra $1.00 for some red onions on a small salad. In a previous order, I contacted the company via email because I hadn't seen any onions in the salad. The manager responded quickly by sending me clips of their security cameras showing the cook chopping onions and adding them to the salad. I admit there were onions in the salad after stirring it up, but they didn't seem more than the usual amount in a normal salad. It's laughable that the manager took the time to review security footage instead of just refunding the $1.00 charge and saying from now on, that fee will be added. Against my better judgment, I kept ordering, but tonight, I was charged again for the packet of mayo. I spend at least $25 a week there, often more, and these two instances leave such a bad taste in my mouth. While companies are free to charge whatever they want, frivolous charges like these really hurt the relationship for me. Tonight was the final straw with the $.86 mayo charge. I understand that maybe their business is struggling in this economy and maybe they need the money, but I hope it was worth losing so much more. I was worried when ownership changed hands and had heard a few rumors that things had changed drastically. I'd not eaten there since the change but had a major craving this past week. I was happy that I could now order on line ahead of time and even schedule a pickup days in advance(and pay ahead of time).. My husband and I have always made it a point to stop at Plaza Pizza whenever we're in Newark…read more Unfortunately, our most recent visit was a huge disappointment. The restaurant just doesn't seem to have recovered since COVID. They no longer offer dine-in service, and all of the tables have been pushed in front of the prep area, so customers can no longer watch the pizzas being made--a feature that used to add to the experience. The condition of the restaurant was concerning. The ceiling tiles were stained and discolored, several were out of place leaving openings to the floor above, and there appeared to be visible mold on ceiling tiles and around the vent above the pizza ovens and prep area. Given the location, it raised concerns for me about sanitation and food safety. The drink cooler was completely empty. When we asked, we were simply told they were out of beverages. We ended up buying drinks from the business next door, where they mentioned that Plaza Pizza customers regularly come there because the pizza shop doesn't have beverages available. The pizza itself wasn't what we remembered. The signature cracker crust that made Plaza Pizza special is gone. It lacked the crisp, fresh texture it once had and instead tasted stale. The bottoms of both pizzas were also dotted with black debris from the oven deck -- the oven decks have been cleaned between pizzas which should be a standard operating procedure. The restaurant was extremely hot inside, and I noticed ingredients such as sauce being kept in containers on the counter rather than in a refrigerated prep table. Having spent many years working in food service, those observations prompted me to review recent Licking County health inspection reports. I found multiple repeat violations that had reportedly remained uncorrected, which made the issues I observed even more concerning. This restaurant used to be one of our favorite stops, and it's disappointing to see how far it has declined. I genuinely hope the owners invest in cleaning, maintenance, and stronger food safety practices because Plaza Pizza was once a local gem. Until then, we'll be taking our business elsewhere.
