I saw their advertisement and phone number on a pink car in traffic and it's silly but I thought it was a sign to get shopping. I arrived for my appointment a couple of minutes before time. When I entered, the only people who looked at me were a woman getting her wig shaped and the two women with her. I walked around a bit, trying to see if there was another salesperson who would come up to welcome me and get my appointment going. It felt awkward, no one said hello or welcome or have a seat, do you have an appointment, it will just be a minute, take a look around while you're waiting- nothing. I took it upon myself to sit down on the couch and wait, which I don't mind doing normally. After 15 minutes, no one had said a single word- not even a GLANCE- I decided that this shop did not earn my money, and I left. I looked on maps and found a different shop about 15 minutes away and drove there. I was welcomed and helped immediately. Within maybe 15-20 mins top, I found a beautiful wig that I am purchasing. I was so impressed with the other shop- and very disappointed with this one. I am a person of color, with many prominent tattoos and a couple of piercings. I don't know exactly what could have put them off on me, on sight but it was really unfortunate. I understand businesses being busy, but busy doesn't mean you have to be rude.

Her website showed some pretty incredible transformations so I put in my info for more information. I got a call back the next day to schedule my consultation. The fee for the consult rolls into whatever treatment you choose. I brought my husband with me, as I knew this was probably going to be a significant investment, and Shanna made us feel right at home. We talked together about my options, and then one of her clients agreed to talk to us about her experience as well. I felt totally comfortable with the option I picked, and Shanna was not pushy at all in upselling more expensive pieces. Everyone there is DILIGENT with wearing masks, wiping things down, and having hand sanitizer available, so no worries there. Once my piece was ready, I went in for the install. This is the first time I wore hair, and it was very overwhelming, but Shanna and Jeni are so encouraging, it really made it fun. I had some issues with that first piece (to be expected as it wasn't custom, but semi-custom), and Jeni touched base with me several times to make sure I was happy with it and to take notes on any changes that needed to be made the next install. Since the cap was a little too big for my head, I had some lifting at the hairline, but Shanna fit me in for a quick touch up at the very last minute as I was leaving town. She also did a quick trim to shorten it slightly and blend better with my own hair. The next time I went in was to remove the first hair piece and install the second. Shanna requires you buy two so that your piece is ready to go when you get there. No waiting to clean adhesive off the first and get it ready, which is nice and not something I would have thought about. It takes an hour or so for removal. This time Jeni had altered the cap so that it fit my head better. It's been a few weeks now, and I just love my new hair! This is an expensive process. Both buying the hair and the upkeep. But if you are finally ready to do something that works and makes you look and feel great immediately, it is totally worth it. And Shanna really goes out of her way to make it a fun, supportive atmosphere. She won't pressure you to get more than you need, and she'll be honest about what will work and what won't for you. They contacted this place as it was "in network", and I told be my insurance that since I'd met my deductible they should be able to file the claim with my insurance and I wouldn't need to pay anything out-of-pocket. So I set up an appointment, and when I showed up I told the lady about my insurance. She said she did not want to file with insurance because in the past she has not been paid out and that I would need to front the cost and file with my insurance on my own. Then I tried on the exact same two wigs I had the previous time and asked for the price. She quoted me almost $1000 more than she had the last time. This lady is taking advantage of sick cancer patients and probably trying to commit insurance fraud (I wouldn't doubt that's the reason insurance companies are not reimbursing her in full). Needless to say I did not give Abba Wigs my business on principle. Just because I'm sick, does give you right to take advantage of me. Edit: for the record, my insurance contacted this store on my behalf prior to me consulting. They said you confirmed they were in network with my insurance. The accusation that I called you names and made threats to you is a complete lie. I was as respectful as could be given the situation. I have literally no reason to make up "lies", there's nothing for me to gain from them. I think the excessive response from the owner speaks to her character. Such awful business conduct.

I had never bought anything like this before so I went to the store ahead of time (before I went with my instructor) to make sure they had what I needed. The owner was very rude to me when I walked in but then warmed up a little bit. He showed me what they had that was what I was looking for and they had a good selection. I was a little suspicious because nothing had price tags on it. He told me everything in that section was $20-25. When I went back with my instructor, the proprietor was much nicer to him than me and they looked at many items while I looked on (because I didn't really know what I was supposed to buy). They settled on something and we went to the cash register where the guy told me it was $80! I was pretty shocked but I went along (my mistake). The proprietor had taken the hairpiece out of the box to show it and didn't give me the box--he just stuck the hairpiece in a cheap little plastic bag (like a grocery bag but smaller and cheaper) by itself and handed it to me. For $80 I would have at least expected to get the box. I now think it was because he scammed me on the price and didn't want me looking it up. When I took it to my hairdresser, she said that it was wrong for what I wanted (it had the wrong clips and so could only be used for a ponytail, which was specifically not what we wanted) and it was only worth $15-20. So I got scammed on the price and now can't even use it. I should have read the reviews of this place because someone else said they were scammed as well. Just go somewhere else or buy online.

Stormy worked with my existing unit and helped give it some more life while we ordered a new one. For the new one, she suggested that I do "perimeter" bonding instead of using glue everywhere. She raved about the cleanliness and how much longer the hair would last. I was a bit skeptical (it felt too good to be true) but I can't believe I didn't use this style of bonding before. I'm glad I moved here and found Stormy and Imagine Hair Replacement. With my old unit, I had to come every 3 weeks for service. With new units and attachment style I can go over a month between services. The units are high quality, and with only the perimeter bonded I find it easier to maintain.
