It breaks my heart to think of any puppy being bred and sold like merchandise in a shit-hole like this. Nine years ago today, when my older rescued miniature schnauzer was in failing health, we were at the Kingston Mall for a movie when I said to my husband "if there's a mini schnauzer at Debby's Pet Land, we have to rescue it." That's how we brought our Cicero, a nine-week old schnauzer who had just come in that day, into our lives. Yesterday, we ventured in there again after a movie and found a young couple sequestered in one of the bonding areas, contemplating the purchase of a 'marked down' 41/2-month old female schnauzer who was licking the young woman's face with endless entreaties to get her out of that place. This poor pup hadn't been bathed or groomed for the duration of her enslavement. But for my knowledge of the breed, I wouldn't have recognized her as a schnauzer under the overgrowth of hair. While I abhor this company's very existence, I feel anguish for the poor animals they're selling. read more
