I hired this company to winterize my sprinkler system, but they turned the water back on to the pipe near the control box. When the temperature dropped, the pipe burst. They came to inspect it but refused to take responsibility for their mistake. Very disappointed with their service and accountability. read more

After using him for a couple of years, service declined. Recently they did a service and left garbage inside the control box, and left my main controller off the wall. After service, my system did not work. I told him I was not going to pay the full service fee and they went and charged my wife's credit card on file for the fill service. He did not have permission to do this. This shows a lack of integrity. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

If you're looking for a company to install or maintain your sprinklers, this is not the company to use. While the mechanics are knowledgable and seem to be nice people, the business practices are far from acceptable. The on-site mechanics are forced to follow these poor practices from the top of the company. They replace, reuse and charge customers twice for sprinkler heads. Their services are priced way out of normal range. Over time, they have pushed me to replace a perfectly working clock. This is a size able expense item and very profitable for them. There was never a need to replace. Most recently, they came to do some repairs and low and behold the clock was "broken" when they left. Instead of owning up for their error and working with their customer to resolve the issue, the owner left me a nasty voicemail. Who talks to there customer this way? My recommendation is to stay away from this company. They are underhanded and have a money-hungry philosophy which is shown plain and simple. This stems from the apparent unhealthiness of the business and there inability to see their customers as nothing but a short-term source of income. read more

Another 5 star update for Dean's. They had been calling to schedule an appointment to blow out the sprinklers, and I had been putting it off. Then this past Sunday I looked at the forecast and saw the temp was going to drop to a high of 32 for a couple of days, so I called them at about 11AM. The gentleman happened to be on the South Shore, said he could stop by on his way to another appointment. He was at the house in 20 minutes, and took care of it. Possible self inflicted issue avoided. read more

I've used Dean's for the last 5 years. They open and close my system annually, and on occasion have done some re-work on the sprinklers. Overall I had no issues. Recently, we ripped up our driveway and as a casualty some sprinkler lines needed to be replaced. During the driveway construction, I called Dean's office to see if they would lend a minute on-site to point out locations where the driveway guy needed to place PVC piping as sleeves under the driveway. I was told nobody was available to come - they were too backed up - and I should do it myself. So I did. Then, one day while I was at work, they showed up unannounced, and left me a bill for two men at a half hour each. Nice. I swallowed it and figured it's part of doing business. Then, without pricing the job, I requested they do the work - which in my mind consisted of bringing the system back to its original condition, minus one zone that needed a complete overhaul because of the extended driveway. Work was supposed to start on a Saturday. This was all discussed with the office, and when the men showed up they immediately told me, "I hope you don't think the work is being performed today." The same guys were here pointing out the sleeves. They knew the job. After expressing my confusion, they proceeded to call another truck to come and start the work. Miscommunication happens, I get it. The other two guys came and dug for two hours. Some piping was laid. No real progress. When they left, I asked them to call me to advise when I can expect the work to start again. No call. While I was sitting in my office that week, I was called by the Owner (Dean) and I was told my front-center zone needed to be split into two zones (has always been sufficient at one). He also told me I needed an extra head on a zone that was not previously damaged. I had no idea what he was referring to, but I gave him the approval to move forward because we really just needed the work to start (and more importantly finish). The work continued for 3 more days. On the third day I received a call. They severed my Verizon Fios line. In the spot where they claimed I needed a new head where I never had an issue before, and in the zone that was NOT damaged. No cable for 48 hours. Small apology from Dean's - at best. Then they were finished. No call to see if I was happy. No call for an apology for the mix-ups, no apology for the cable/internet/phone issue. Just a call every day about payment. Every day. I requested a breakdown of the invoice before I pay (that's reasonable, right?). When I called to talk to Dean, he got on the phone, then hung up on me. When he called back, he said he was expecting another call he had to take. Nice. So I received the breakdown via email. The only hours I could validate were those from the first day (Saturday), since I wasn't home during the remaining days. Saturday was wrong. They charged me three men for two hours. There were only two men here. So I requested via email that Dean review his invoice for those hours, as well as request some leniency on the price since it was more expensive than anticipated. His email response was so repulsive, my wife read it and told me I shouldn't pay him a cent. No words like "I understand but can't do better" or "I'll work with you." Just "I need to get paid. That's the bottom line." Wonderful. Customer service at its finest. So he followed up with a call, and I told him I'd be happy to pay him if he sends his guys over to fix the two zones that aren't working off the timer. So the guys show up and - are you ready for the best part - find out that the additional zone they installed (to a spare zone valve I already had) has no power to it. Yup, no power to open the valve. Nobody thought to check before they started the install of a whole new zone. Unreal. Now I have no water on half my front center zone. The guys call Dean to ask what they should do. Dean requests to talk to me. I expected "sorry" or "we screwed up, we're going to fix it." Maybe even a "listen, we should have known, but I have to charge you to run a line to the timer." Nope, none of that. What I got - before even a "hello" was "I'm not owning this." Yup, not even a courtesy introduction on the phone. Right into the fact that this is supposed to be my problem. I directed the guys to double up on one zone (pressure in those two small zones is terrible). Since I was initially told the men needed to come back for a short duration after all the landscaping was finished (and the invoice held $50 for that part of the work), I was ready to pay 75% of the total bill, to save 25% for completion. I gave them 75% in cash and explained my position. The men once again called Dean who demanded I pay in full. He said that was not our agreement (mind you I told him I would pay after the job was completed). I paid in full and told them not to bother coming back. Ever. Good riddance. read more

The worst ever had them blow out my lines to winterize at least I thought they were winterized to my surprise come spring opened system 3 zones had frozen split lines and frozen heads needed to be replaced. I must state I was not home and have no way to confirm lines were blown out or not except my money was gone and had a receipt that's it. Never ever had a problem like this before I called them told me " these things happen we can come by and give you a estimate to fix them " Will never ever ever use this outfit again. read more
