I'll keep this review simple, honest and fair, just like the typical experience one can expect during a visit to Dean's Diner. I love this place. I visit every time I am in the area! Dean's is your typical nostalgic, quintessentially American diner. Food: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 (it's an old school diner!) Staff: 5/5 Finally, here's a pro-tip... do not leave here without having a slice of one of their MANY pies!

It was fun checking out a new place. The breakfast menu was very small & limited. The food & service was ok. The restrooms were very clean.

    pancake

I stopped here for the first time two weeks ago while having a nightmare of a work day, in the hopes that a decent pancake would make the day less of a nightmare. When I tell you these were the best pancakes I have ever had in my life...so fluffy, so thick, and easily the size of my head, for less than $5. The photo I took can't do them the justice they deserve. The diner is adorable, the staff are friendly, and the pancakes could turn your worst day around. I can't wait to go back

Slow, slow, slow!! Stopped by for breakfast last Saturday, 7/27 around 11:25 am and won't be back. The breakfast rush had gone but it still took 45 mins for a simple breakfast of two eggs over medium. Two young ladies who ordered before me only received their meals (cheeseburger & fries) when I was nearly finished mine. The eggs were ok, home fries flavorless and the pre-made sausage patties were cold. WTF took 45 mins? I've since read other reviews stating they're understaffed and this is the norm. Don't eat here unless you have at least 2 hours to spare

Had a late breakfast this past Sunday & it was delicious. Had peanut butter chocolate pie for dessert. The price is great for all the food we got! Will return!!

We stopped at this "restaurant" on our way home from state college. We just barely beat a slight rush of folks, if you consider 3 groups of 2 a rush. It took over a half hour for several meals. We had nothing extravagant: grilled cheese, grilled ham and cheese, and two burgers. I use the word burger loosely. The "deluxe" burger was 2 smash patties on a 3 layer bun which came with coleslaw (we never received that), and fries. If you've ever bought frozen fries at the grocery store, then undercooked them, that's what you'll find here. We did hear that the pies were good, but we ended up cancelling that piece of our order. After 3 of the 4 at our table found hairs in our food, we lost our appetite. Our server was genuinely surprised when we didn't have a craving for hair pie after we alerted her to the hairs in our food. According to the marquee they've been in business for 90 years, now that is the real surprise.

    Meatloaf!

I saw this diner while driving from Indiana to Connecticut. Decided to try it on my return. Delicious and friendly! The raison pie was not my favorite "mince"--but points for having it! I love diners.

I've been to Dean's for lunch but never supper. We were surprised at how crowded it was but also pleased to see business picking back up from the past couple years. Our server was friendly and attentive and our food was terrific. We enjoyed our meals and will keep Dean's in mind for future trips. Yum !!

This not our first stop at Dean's, but every time we pass it's a winner! The atmosphere is so homey, it's like a small town diner. The service is always super friendly, servers make time to chat with guests. This time I had the veg soup and grilled ham/cheese & my husband had the deluxe burger, both were delicious with nice portion size. Definitely will return again when traveling through!

I remember coming here as a kid and the food, the atmosphere, and the menu look exactly the same as they were decades ago. I may be biased as I have good memories of coming here with my grandma and mom and the meal I got here reminded me of some good times. I got the vegetable omelet and it is exactly how you'd expect an omelet from a classic diner. It was cooked pretty hard, but was enjoyable as they have a nice bit of tomatoes, peppers, and cheese. I added peppers and onions to the home fries and that did add a nice contrast. The potatoes could have been browned a bit more, but they were decent. We split a half order of biscuits and gravy and that was better than I expected. It's not the best I've had, but the sausage gravy was tasty without being too greasy or heavy. I tried some gravy fries and again, they tasted exactly how I expect diner fries to taste. Nobody in the group tried any pie, but it looked like they had a decent selection to choose from. One thing I really noticed was that the toast was buttered to the edges of the bread. It seems like that is a rare occurrence and I'm not sure how many people really care about that, but that's a small detail that I really appreciated. They do offer a wide array of lunch and dinner choices, but I do feel like the best bet is to go with breakfast. They serve it 24 hours a day.

After an extremely long sixteen hour shift at work I knew I needed one thing before I headed home…read moreand slept for a majority of the day. That one day was a greasy, heavy breakfast. Something that would sit in my stomach and make me feel satisfied. Quick search on Yelp to find a diner like setting for such and this was the nearest to where I was at that point in my commute. Keystone Kitchen sits in a plaza off of Route 22 in New Alexandria, from the outside it doesn't look like much. Once you go inside it looks like a country cabin diner, if that makes sense. The sounds in here are those of a diner and the smells are that of a diner. However, what is different is the decor. Kind of like a hunting cabin with the wood decor that is everywhere. The tables and booths were well used, making me know that this place is well liked and frequented enough to make it a local staple. When I came in I was greeted right away and told I could sit wherever I wanted. Shortly after finding a seat I had a menu in hand and a drink order placed. I was left to look over the menu. At the time of the visit I got to look over the breakfast menu. I was especially craving biscuits and gravy. My mind just kept telling me that and I was going to just order a combo with that as a side. That is until I made myself look over the menu one more time. That's when I spot the number 5 combo breakfast meal. That combo would give me everything that I needed at that moment in time. The number five combo is two eggs cooked they way you like, choice of either breakfast potatoes or hash browns, and the biscuit and gravy I was craving. I went with two dippy eggs (that's sunny side up for you non-western Pennsylvanians) and hash browns to accompany my biscuit and gravy. When it showed up in front of me, I couldn't wait to dig into that plate. I didn't know it, but I was starving. The eggs were perfect, cut into them and the yolks started running all over the plate, that was perfect to me. The hash browns had that outer crust on them that gave you the crunch and the inner parts were that warm potato that just hits you. Best part about it is that you can mix them with either the runny egg yolk or the extra gravy that definitely spilled over from the biscuit. The biscuit and gravy, oh my god, amazing. The biscuit is made in house which means they are fresh and tasty. The gravy has this sweet and savory mix going for it. The pieces of sausage in the gravy are amazing little pops of flavor. Little bit of spice in there, but everything balances out. It really livens up the dryness of the biscuit. This meal was what I set out for, satisfying. The service here, way above the bar. I mean there is great service and then there is Keystone Kitchen. Very attentive, interacting with everyone in here, letting you know who the regulars are, and very on top of their game. I really enjoyed the meal, it hit the spot and definitely put me to sleep when I finally did home for morning.
