Best crawfish experience in ages. Deanie's is one of those spots that holds sentimental memories for me. My dad took me here as a kid and I remember it like it was yesterday. So when I was able to bring my oldest here, and make new memories, it was very meaningful to me. Let me set the scene. It was lent on a Friday. Everyone in the area knows that those are the busiest days to eat seafood in the state. But my oldest had just finished a grad school interview in Nola and crawfish seemed like a great way to celebrate. The memory of eating at Deanie's came to me and off we went. We arrived around 12:30 and the place was packed. I would estimate we waited around 30-40 minutes but we spent it chatting and people watching. Once seated we were treated to the Deanie's unique touch. Instead of crackers or bread, they bring boiled potatoes to the table. They were as delicious as I remembered them. I wish more restaurants would do this. Crawfish was only available in two pound orders that at the day we viisted was $15.95 and came with a half ear of boiled corn. We ordered three of those and went to town. The crawfish were perfectly seasoned to me (full of flavor with a nice level of heat), large, and clean. Without a doubt, they were the best crawfish I have had in several years. Everyone has their preference of places, but Deanie's is now my gold standard. I am salivating as I write this. If you enjoy crawfish, get yourself to Deanie's ASAP.

Deanie's Seafood is one favorite spot for Sophia and me going back to when we lived in the New Orleans area. I'm sure I'm repeating myself, but every time we ate, we always took a to-go box home. When it comes to Louisiana seafood, you cannot go small and you'll be satisfied during each visit. And this one was no different when we were in Louisiana visiting our respective families for Christmas. When we arrived on Sunday afternoon, it was full where we waited for almost 30 minutes. It was totally fine since I was watching the Saints play the Titans (they won by the way going undefeated for December). The bar was spotless and clean while we waited for our table, which was no rush at all. Once we were seated, it took us no time to select our meal. We chose their half seafood platter which consisted of fried catfish, fried oysters, crawfish balls and one soft shell crab along with french fries and hush puppies. Everything on the plate was very good. When it comes to New Orleans style food (my umpteenth time saying this), they did not disappoint. All was well seasoned and well prepared. If you guessed correctly, we ended up taking food home and it was just as delicious. Deanie's, thank you, thank you, thank you. We may not live in Louisiana anymore, but you make us feel right at home. You definitely know we'll return through those doors :)

We came in a little late on a week night. Everything we ordered had great flavor. The appetizers were a steal in price almost half of what they'd charge at a downtown restaurant for the same amount of food. The stuffed mushroom filling had a lot of crab. The entrees were enormous as well for the price. Our server was very sweet and when the wrong shrimp app came out she corrected it immediately. All of the food came out hot and fresh. I'd like to go back to try their desserts but we couldn't fit another bite. The half platter also came with a huge filet of catfish and a plate of fries not shown. And the picture doesn't do the flounders size justice I could barely eat half without being full. The carrot soufflé is a must try also

Food = DELICIOUS! Louisiana is one of my favorite places to eat and this place did not disappoint. The crabmeat au gratin was to die for! They have a location near the French quarter but we went to the Metairie location and there was no wait. It's a very casual place with good prices. Next to a seafood market and a daiquiri place across the street. so glad I tried this place out!

Really enjoyed my meal here. I ordered a cup of chicken & shrimp gumbo with an order of friend shrimp. Before our meal came out, we received a plate of the most delicious red potatoes. I'm used to bread being served before the meal comes, but Deanie's may be on to something with these potatoes! They were deliciously seasoned and cooked perfectly. It didn't take long for our order to come out and everything was fresh and hot. Our waitress was very friendly and answered any questions that we had. My only complaint was that I wish we had been informed of the 20% charge for splitting the check. We were a party of 2, had we known that, we would have asked for one check and split it up ourselves later.

We decided to stop in after picking Pops up from the airport before taking the drive back home. The atmosphere was soo warm and welcoming that I just knew the food would be delicious. It was OK nothing to make me want to come back. It tasted no different than our Sharks back at home. Scratching it off the list of "what to try" and don't have to ever come back.

The food was amazing! My favorite was the crab balls, and bbq shrimp! This was my first time trying fried soft crabs and it wasn't what I thought, it was good as well. The service was good as well, nothing took too long to come out, even though it was busy the food still came out fast. They also bring potatoes out to the table while you wait on your food, that was a great touch to the experience . I will be back again, I enjoyed the food, the vibe and the service !

Omg ... if you like fried seafood and are really hungry this is the place to be. After you see the size portions of what they give you, you ask yourself who could eat all that. Start with a crab gumbo that was awesome, then we ordered fried artichoke hearts. For my entrée, we shared a gigantic plate of fried seafood all was great, but those fried oysters are to die for. If you're ever in the area visit this location. Check this place out I know you'll like it.

Ms.Felicia was the Greatest! She met us with a warm smile, was friendly and made our party of 9 feel right at home. She took our orders and not once did she forget anything we ordered. She even remembered our names. The sweetest waitress I've encountered in a very long time. Oh and the food was hot and off the chain (good good)! The whole experience was great and it was one of the busiest times of the year (the Bayou Classic ) . Clean restaurant with a warm friendly/family atmosphere. Thanks again Ms. Felicia we'll be back to see you! The Millers

Ask the Community - Deanie’s Seafood

How many people does the big seafood platter serve?

The large platter (75) can feed 4-5 people. Depending on person. The smaller seafood platter fed 3 of us.

Do all the locations serve the boiled seafood? I didn't see on the menu on all of them.

Yes, we serve boiled crawfish and shrimp at all three locations. Our French Quarter location does not serve boiled crab, but it is available in Bucktown and at our new location Uptown.

What delivery services do you use?

Hi Darla, At the moment we are exploring using WaitrApp but have not yet launched delivery service at this location. Our restaurant Uptown on Magazine Street (Deanie's Sea Food Kitchen, 2200 Magazine) did just add Waitr for delivery, if you're near… Read more

This experience makes me never want to go back. The Old Fashioned was Kool-Aid sweet. One sip we knew it was undrinkable. The server told us we would not get reimbursed for sending it back. One sip - their policy is no returns on beverages. We asked to have it remade and they did. Still candy sweet. And the Old Fashioned got ordered because the first drink - the blue margarita- also was bad. They charged us for both Eve though they were undrinkable. That wasn't the biggest issue though. Two of us got the Blue Crab pasta and two got the Cobb Salad - one with chicken and one with grilled shrimp. The pasta was ok - heavy sauce and hard to find the crab. The grilled shrimp was "meh." Crab claws and calamari for appetizers. Both had poor quality shredded parmasean cheese on them. Why? We picked the sautéed crab claws that were chilled. The Caesar dressing like sauce was too heavy and not great. The crab claws by themselves probably would have been good. And the cocktail sauce - came from a jar or something. Lacked flavor and tasted like low grade ketchup. Again we've loved Blue Crab for years. No need to go back with so many other choices in New Orleans. The view is spectacular. I hope they return to what they used to be. Y'all let me know if they do.

He told us about the specials and my mouth was drooling when he said soft shell crab. We started with the smoked salmon dip which was so creamy and delicious. For entrees the hubby had the blackened drum topped with blackened shrimp over Brabant potatoes. He was kind enough to give me a bite and oh boy it was so good. I, of course, had the fried soft shell crab special over smoky asparagus. The crab was topped with more crabmeat and a beurre blanc sauce. The crab was cleaned so well and then lightly fried. It was a very fat crab and every bite was a culinary delight. This was by far the best soft shell crab dish I have ever had. I certainly don't say that lightly because I eat soft shell crabs from the start of the season right up to the end. We were so full that there would be no need to eat dinner. Then Vince of course mentioned the desserts and we chose the chocolate peanut butter doberge cake with chocolate ganache. We told him to make it to go and do not open the box when he brought it to the table! Overall, Station 6 treated us to one of the best meals we have ever had. What a good place to get a real flavor of local seafood cuisine in New Orleans…read more We got this suggestion from one of our colleagues and took her up on this restaurant. A bit out of town but worth the drive. Arriving about 7 PM the place was packed with a 20 minute wait time. We waited. Sat down and got served very quickly with the super waitress. Drinks came quickly and so did our order. We started with the Seafood gumbo soup. Loaded with shrimp, rice, crab, and mire, this dark, semi thick soup was outstanding! Highly recommend this starter. Looking at a menu with many many seafood choices I went with the Redfish Ponchartrain entrée. You get a choice of two ways it's prepared. I chose the blackened way. Not over spicy, but very flavorful. Decent size portion of fish. The meal also included Angel hair pasta with a cream and garlic sauce. I took a hard pass on the sauce and went with their marinara, which happened to be featured that days lunch menu. Typically this red sauce is not available. It was very well done. On the thicker thicker side for sauce, not too sweet, not too bland either. I steered away from the cream sauce as it was pretty heavily loaded with garlic. Throughout the meal, our server continually refilled my water and sweet tea. Good sweet tea as it wasn't super sweet. No question about it. I would come back to this restaurant.

You can pick which salad you want out of about 5 choices and gumbo or shrimp and corn soup. The shrimp salad has nicely fried shrimp. I did not care for the iceburg lettuce but they charge $2.00 upcharge for romaine or spinach. I guess the key is to just get another salad and change the shrimp to fried. LOL My grandmother had the fried catfish, with seafood stuffing, and shrimp pasta with a rich Cajun alfredo sauce. It was so filling and delicious. My brother ordered potatoe salad and GUMBO. He lives in California so he does not get an opportunity to eat fresh seafood with a plethora of flavors.

The charbroiled oysters absolutely lived up to the hype rich, buttery, smoky, and packed with flavor. The crawfish platter was just as impressive and gave me a chance to try multiple Louisiana dishes all in one meal. What really stood out to me beyond the food was the service. The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, and patient with questions from someone who isn't from Louisiana and still learning the local food scene. You can tell they take pride in both the restaurant and the hospitality.
