Imma say it, this was one of the best vanilla lattes I've had in the city. Whatever blend they used for that espresso absolutely hit. My friend and I wandered in looking for some coffee and as other reviews note, there really isn't a menu in here? For a second, I couldn't tell if they even made lattes since the only signage noted espresso and drip coffee. My friend grabbed an 8 oz latte an I went with a 12 oz vanilla latte -- came out to $11 total so not too bad, particularly for the quality. It's just one person behind the counter making the drinks, but he displayed a great deal of care between the syrups, latte art, and sneaker decals on top. My drink was perfectly hot, not too sweet, and had a great flavor overall. I would absolutely go back for another latte and to grab some beans as well. This place is small, there's a VERY small amount of limited seating; definitely not a sit and sip your coffee for hours type of spot. Loved the sneakers displayed inside though. Flew in and drove straight to Deadstock Coffee. I ended up getting good parking for about 2 hours and the area was a little beat. It was my first time in portland but it gave me San Francisco vibes. I got me a little Pistachio Latte with oat and it was mid. I wish I had more time to research what is good here but thats ok. I mainly came for the vibes and it was cute. Not a place to really hang out at its more of a grab and go type of place which was sad because I had a lot of time to burn. I ended up getting some espresso beans and im hoping that its a good bag of coffee! read more

This is a very small walk up location. There is metered parking in front. There is a small lobby for lining up for ordering or waiting to pickup your drink. The service was good and knowledgeable about the drinks. I got the Becky 2.0, I really liked i and the coffee is really good. I thought the shoe design was a dope touch and went with the theme of the shop. It is worth a visit. read more

Yum! Got a to-go matcha spumoni (pomegranate and pistachio) and drip coffee. The matcha flavor mixed with Italian dessert notes was unique & the coffee was delicious. No bitter taste or off-notes. No pricing on menus (they lack those too) and a small storefront made waiting slightly uncomfortable. I wouldn't hang around here long but the drinks are worth a visit. read more

A must visit for sneakerheads! One of the coolest cafes I've been to. The ambience was awesome and had a streetwear store vibe. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. They don't have a set menu and said they can basically make anything (as long as they have the ingredients ofc). I didn't know what to order, so I went with a basic vanilla latte, and it turned out to be one of the best I've had in a while. Bonus for the AJ1 on top as decor. Highly recommend! read more

Deadstock coffee not only has fun and tasty drinks, the ambience is awesome especially for those interested streetwear and sneakers. They have stencil art that goes on top of hot drinks that adds a nice touch to an already tasty drink. The service was also great, the barista was very knowledgable and helped me choose what to order. read more

Very nice ambiance and the person on the register was so nice. Had a super cool vibe and was in a walkable location from many of the nearby hotels. Really enjoyed stopping in and trying a coffee. Limited seating area but that was fine with me. Super cute photo op for the sneakerheads. read more

While visiting we wanted to grab some coffee & hot chocolate in downtown before making our way to the Japanese garden so we came across this space! The hot chocolate was delicious. Its very small so not a place to find seating and meet friends its more of a to-go place and its just aesthetic vibes but thats cool too! If visiting Portland for the first time like us be aware that the particular area this shop is in is pretty bad with unhoused folks so i wouldn't recommend walking around so much there take an uber or the tram but still be aware of the tram location too for this! But the shop was cool to visit! The barista also helped us with introduction to the menu! read more

The coffee/espresso is better than other neighborhood options, but then there aren't really many to speak of. Setup is tight to the point that it doesn't really welcome work or casual meetups. Mostly, I'd like to echo what surprisingly few others have: the fact that there's no menu is absurd in today's economy. I only paid $4 for an 8oz Americano, but other reviews can speak to the bizarre pricing of various other products they serve here. read more

Only good vibes at Deadstock! I came by for a coffee fix while being in the area and I'm glad I did. The storefront is both unique and such a vibe - just a bit small so don't expect to snag a seat and chill for awhile. Service was nice and welcoming! There isn't a fixed menu as the bar is entirely customizable. I just wish there was a menu to select from as to what exactly I can customize and what my options are. Under pressure, I opted for the seasonal special Miso Caramel Latte - which sounded unique as it was. Definitely a different taste! I didn't think it would be so miso-forward but I got to admit the flavor is right on. Savory and sweet, it was a take on a specialty latte I've never had before. Personally, I wish it was a little bit sweeter but that's just me. I'm glad I stopped by to check out it the place and I'd recommend other Portland visitors to do the same! read more

Paid street parking. Small shop but flexible menu. They don't have a set menu but they have a full espresso bar so they can make almost anything you request. My Iced Vanilla Latte was good, wasn't overly sweet, and was one of the cheapest lattes I've had. I believe I got the 8 oz for $4.75 and was enough coffee for me. The shop is small with only about 8 bar seats along the entrance walls. Good for anyone who's into sneakers! They sell their own beans and merch as well. read more

If you know me, you know that I love to collect sneakers (I refuse to call myself a sneakerhead though)! There is nothing like opening a box to a new pair of shoes, sniffing the newness of the shoes (I'm pretty sure that the good smell is toxic), and picking an outfit from your closet that perfectly compliments them. While assembling my itinerary for our family trip to Portland, I came across a very popular coffee shop that pays homage to sneaker lovers by being sneaker-themed. With my Space Jam Jordan 11s on my feet, my family and I made the 20 minute drive to check out the coffee shop. Upon entering the shop, we were greeted by a friendly employee and a pretty solid playlists serving as background music. On both sides of the entryway there was barstools for sipping on your coffee and people watching (one of my favorite pastimes). My wife and I initially thought that there was a drink menu; however, the employee informed us that we can tell them what we want and they would do their best to make it. My wife ordered a cappuccino and I opted for a latte (we requested that both drinks have a sneaker stencil). Two minutes later our drinks were ready; ironically, I received a Jordan 3 sneaker stencil (one of my favorite Jordans) and my wife received an air max '97 stencil. Aside from the sneaker stuff, you're probably wondering if the coffee is good. I can confirm that the coffee was indeed satisfying; however, I am not a coffee connoisseur. Therefore, I suggest trying it for yourself in order to form your own opinion. Good vibes + good coffee + staff that seem to enjoy their jobs...we will definitely make a return visit next time we're in Portland! read more

Deadstock Coffee is a spot I recommend to anyone I know who's visiting Portland. If you ask me what my favorite coffee shop is here, Deadstock Coffee is definitely up there. A unique sneaker-themed coffee shop that makes good coffee? What more can you ask for? I also love that the drinks are topped with a sneaker stencil - an IG-worthy moment for sure! Visiting from VA! Saw this place on TikTok and I loved the concept, so I decided to try. Apparently, I visited on a special day because they were making breakfast sandwiches outside (and they usually don't do this). I loved the design of the space and the workers were down to earth. I had seen a lot of reviews and recommendations of this place and decided to give it a try. Ordering was very easy and straightforward. I didn't get to try any of the pastries, but I did see they had quite a bit on the menu. It's a small coffee shop where you can just grab your coffee and go. mf matchalada and pretty please awesome little coffee shop in china town right after the gate. deadstock decor on point. lots of hip hop references and art. there isn't much seating so it's a grab and go sorta place. the staff are cool and friendly. they explained a lot of the summer specials because we don't know what to expect. mf matchalada was AWESOME. great combo i haven't tried before. it's super smooth and flavorful. the matcha was full bodied. the pretty please was interesting. i don't like cherry coke so i don't know why i ordered it. we got nervous bc there was a line forming and asked for the most ordered specials. id skip this if you don't like cherry coke. maybe i'd like it more if it was a vanilla coke option. otherwise, it tastes like it was described. read more

If you are in the Portland area looking to try some coffee, Deadstock is a must try spot! Initially, my partner and I had heard about Deadstock, as they make the coffee for Kann restaurant, so it was added to our list of placed to try. Located in Chinatown in Portland, the venue is quaint with a small area for sitting. The staff were amazing, and although it was busy, they took the time to talk to my partner and they gave us recommendations coffee to try, and they gave us recommendations of other restaurants. Diana was amazing! As far as the coffee, there were a variety of unique offerings, but they also can make traditional coffee orders as well. My partner and I opted for a smoked vanilla latte and a sesame honey latte, both of which were so good and flavorful. I highly recommend giving Deadstock a try! read more

Great atmosphere. I got there right before they closed so they ran out of chai. I settled for an Earl Grey and it was very good. There was only one barista at that time but he focused on each drink alone to make sure he got it right. I'm lactose, so he substituted dairy for almond milk. Of course the appeal to this place are the Nike's and as a Nike girl myself, this was the main cafe on my list to hit up while in Portland. I regrettably wasn't wearing Nike's on that trip. What sets this place apart from other cafe's is the Nike shoe crema, or at least that's what I think it's called- the art on your coffee top. Except instead of cream it was cinnamon. Unsure if you can ask for something else if you're allergic. read more

Super good coffee my latte was yummy, frothy and hot, no wait, cool sneaker collection/theme, black owned, some mercy and local art available for purchase too. Great little Instagram moment with the latte sneaker art too. Only downside is the location isn't the best but that's more of a city not cleaning up the Chinatown area problem and has nothing to do with the coffee spot, just a note! read more

How it works: (sorry introverts) walk up to the barista and tell them what you're typically into - coffee wise. They'll make you a a drink tailored for you or go in blind with a surprise. What can I say that hasn't been said? This place is super cool, combining good coffee with streetwear and sneakers. The baristas clearly know their regular customers and the place gives off, as they say, a 'barbershop feel.' As a first time customer who's definitively not all that cool, I felt a little bit lost, but that's on me - there was no judgement and vibes were chill. I appreciate that Deadstock does a lot in the community, bringing people together and supporting different businesses, markets, and pop-ups. The space is small, without seating, and there's not much of a menu but you can ask for what you'd like (including "anything with a sneaker design on top"). I got a cold brew with a splash of cream and it was perfect. They roast their own coffee. Next time I am trying the Lebronald Palmer! read more

I ordered a special chai and espresso shake, and my guy got an almond milk caramel mocha. Both are distinct tasting and delicious! Is it the coffee brand and/or baristas touch? Whatever it is...FIRE! Always wanted to check out this spot for the sneaker latte art and the vibes. Definitely the most unique coffee shop I've been to. Located in Chinatown - not the best part of town so beware. They don't feature a menu here which can be confusing for first time visitors. The baristas can make pretty much any drink you want! Seriously order whatever you want and they can make it! Deadstock was started as a little idea to create a place where people interested in sneakers and the hype culture could go to learn and hang out without loitering.

Meet the Business Owner: Ian W.

I'm a size 12.5-wearing sneaker fool, I love cookies (soft ones), and if I was a little bit taller I'd be in a league somewhere. For the last 5 years I was a Footwear Developer at Nike in Beaverton; Started there as a Janitor and stutter-stepped my way through the corporate traffic. Now I'm a full-time latte maker at Deadstock Coffee. Aside from that I'm a pretty boring dude.

The Pros: First off, the staff is incredibly sweet and friendly. They make you feel welcome the second you walk in. The modern, cool design of the space is top tier. It is exactly the kind of atmosphere you want when grabbing a coffee in Portland. I also love their progressive approach to dairy; they default to plant based milks and there is no upcharge for them, which is a huge win for accessibility and sustainability. The Cons: Unfortunately, the experience was completely undercut by the quality of the pour. The oat milk curdled almost immediately. I am well aware that Stumptown uses a more naturally acidic brew, which is a science experiment waiting to happen with plant milks, and I know it is technically safe to drink. However, the separation completely ruins the mouthfeel. Instead of a creamy, cohesive sip, I was left with a watery base and grainy floaties. It is disappointing to be told that this is normal when specialty cafes have the tools like barista grade buffers and temperature control to prevent this. While the ethics and the aesthetic are on point, a drink that looks and feels curdled just is not an acceptable standard to serve to customers. Summary: Great people, great space, great pricing, but the technical execution of the plant based drinks needs a serious overhaul.

I have probably spent a couple thousand dollars on their business. Not being able to pour my cup of coffee in a to-go cup when leaving is ridiculous and not standard practice. I found this out the hard way when I had ordered a drip coffee for here and, when leaving, the women kinda snapped at me when I kindly asked for an 8oz to-go cup. I'm on their bi weekly coffee subscription. I'm located in Portland and my bag of beans was routed from Portland to Detroit, then San Francisco then back to my home in Portland on my last order. How odd. I tried reaching out to them to figure out what's going on and there is no way of contacting their business. Their website has no contact information and I called multiple times and no one would pick up the phone. I finally found a personal gmail account linked to their business somewhere on their google business profile but no one ever responded to me. I find it to be very odd that they're running an online business, you can't contact them, and they don't have anyone attending customer service. That's very bad practice. If it weren't for how good the coffee is, PushXPull would be dead last on my preferred coffee shop. I'll update my review once these issues are addressed.

His hospitality set the tone for the whole evening--warm, relaxed, and full of conversation between people from all over the world. One of the highlights was watching Joe prepare traditional Egyptian coffee over hot sand, a centuries-old method that slowly heats the coffee and brings out deep, rich flavors. But the real comfort of the night came in the form of Egyptian Sahlab. Imagine a thick, creamy winter drink made from warm milk, gently sweetened and flavored with vanilla and orange blossom water. Those of you who tried it know what I am talking about! It was very nice to get a beautiful taste of Egyptian culture right here on Hawthorne. I think this place would be as unique as the artwork if they were able to create their own house made sauces and flavors for the food and drinks. It's store bought ranch, BBQ sauce and Talenti syrups disappoint the thought and care of the uniqueness of its atmosphere.
