Very nice location and ambiance. Beer selection is extensive, but on Friday 8/21/15 they were out of many of their home brews. The service was horrible, we arrived at our table around 19:45, order was placed 5 minutes later. My son had chicken strips with fries, my wife had the fried chicken breast and I had a burger. It took. 10 mins to get our beers, the food didn't get to our table until 20:38. The waiter didn't come to apologize until we pointed out that the wait was ridiculous. They need to focus on their service or get out of the food business and stick with beer. We will not be going back. read more

Last stop on our tour of a few northern MI brewpubs we haven't tried yet. We know craft beer very well, as we've visited as many microbreweries as we can and my husband also home brews. We did a flight of their own beers (they also have other craft beers on tap that aren't theirs), and they were mediocre. We really wanted to try the Shugga Bear but it was out. We understand that happens though. We're Big Hefeweizen fans and I have to say their hefe was practically a Miller Lite. So disappointing! No thick, rich cloudiness with banana, coriander and clove flavors. Really no flavor at all :( The rest of their beers were just ok, not memorable. So we drank Bell's Pooltime Ale and Norm's Raggedy Ass which they had on tap. So as far as a brewpub goes, it's a bit of a let down. BUT, as a restaurant, it was really comfy. The decor is back woodsy and they have a very nice patio with garage doors that open up to outside. Lots of seating, and a little stage where a stellar duo called A Brighter Bloom was playing. We had the pierogi appetizer and shared the Pig Tails & Cheese Mac n cheese which was big enough for two and both dishes were really good. Maybe we will try them again in a year or two and see if the beers are better. read more

I read the reviews and I really wanted to like it. The atmosphere was cute and it was clean. We were driving so my husband had only one beer and I ordered a club soda. The beer was fine. My club soda was flat. I told the waitress. She looked at me like I was crazy. It was flat and she was rude. My husband got the jumbo shrimp with mash potatoes. The shrimp was good BUT, the gravy from the mash potatoes was on all of the shrimp so the shrimp coating was mushy. I got the Philly steak & cheese with a side of veggies. The sandwich was very good the veggies were over cooked in lots of butter and ?. They tasted good but I think a side of French fries might actually been healthier. All in all, only a 3 star. Good food, good service and very good beer selection. My wife and I went here for the first time last night and was pleasantly surprised at the nice remodel that was done. The bar area has a cool "Up North" look and feel. We had a couple of appetizers, fried pickles and chips and salsa, both were good. We kept it simple for dinner, we both had burgers. They were very tasty!!! The menu is still kinda of hold over from the previous place, Mainstream Steak and Ribs but we were told that they are working on creating a complete new one. From what I understand it is the same owners anyway. Now for the good part. BEER!!! They have a wonderful selection of local Michigan brands, both on tap (my favorite), and bottles. They also have a full bar. Their in house brews are really good too!!! We'll definitely be back!! read more

Usually I try to find something nice to say about a place but the service here was pretty bad by any and all standards. I think you get a more personalized customer care experience in most fast food places. We barely got checked on, had to hand plates up and down the table, the waitress had no idea what anyone ordered and it took over an 30 minutes to get a refill on a beer. I mean this is a brewery, who would want another beer in a brewery? If this restaurant is losing profit it's simply because they don't value costumer service or common sense. The food is borderline but the service really tanks this place. It is abysmal. They also don't really brew their own beer. They had two home brews that were out, everything else was from another brewery..... read more

What I really like about this place is they have traditional pub food along with craft beer (most craft beer places try and go all artsy with their "locally organic" produced pizza or whatever. Family and I stopped in as an alternative to fast food. Sat on the patio which was really nice and would be a great place to have drinks with friends. Food however was boy great. Chicken fingers were over done and kids wouldn't eat much. Fries were good but burger was just ok. Might try the place again if I wanted to drink beer but wouldn't come again for food. read more

Tried this restaurant because out normal places were packed tonight, (Wednesday.....not sure why). Sat down, ordered some beers but didn't get their home brews. Wasn't in a craft beer mood, it happens. Beer and food prices are decent. Ordered the fish sandwich and the wife got the mac n cheese. Both were very good and decently sized. They don't have a ton of beer that they brew their (I think it was 4), but they do have other great Michigan beer to choose from. The design of this place is great as well. read more

Didn't take names and made everybody wait with tons of open tables available. Serious lack of organization and leadership. Waitresses arguing in front of guests waiting to be sat as well. I enjoyed my dinner at the Dead Bear Brewing Company. I had the Greek salad, and my mom had the steak salad. The Greek salad was light, refreshing, and delicious. This place is on point. Nothing but positive reviews for here. We had reservations at 6 but showed up early and they were very accommodating. We had a party of 8 and everyone was beyond satisfied with their food. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip and cheesesticks as appetizers and the artichoke dip was okay, but the cheesesticks were really good, including dipping sauce. I ordered the blackened salmon with a side of rice and a side salad. The side salads are pretty standard but the salmon was some of the best I'd ever had. My boyfriend had a burger and said it was good. Most everyone else ordered steaks, ribs, or beer-battered shrimp and they said the steaks were some of the best they had ever had. Even the well-done steak was incredibly tender. If you're ever in the area and need a great place to eat, you can't go wrong with the Dead Bear Brewing Company. read more

I really wish I had something nicer to say, because most of the reviews are pretty solid. We had a really bad experience here. The guy who sat us was super nice and I could tell throughout our meal that he was a super attentive server. Too bad we didn't have him. As someone in the service industry, I have a lot of patience for issues, but this was really bad. It took forever to get our drinks, then even longer to get our food, and when we did, it was obvious it had been ready for quite a while. Quite a few orders were incorrect, and most of the food was lukewarm at best. My mashed potatoes were actually cold, and the gravy had a skin over the top. I may have said something, except our server never came back to check on us. We had to ask the other server on the floor for our bills. I might understand if it was busy, but it wasn't. It's unfortunate, because I was definitely looking forward to trying this place!!! If we come through again, I'd probably come back, give it another shot, as long as We had a different server.... read more

Great food! I ate here two nights in a row. I had the reuben and the bison burger. Both excellent choices and perfect size for dinner. They have tons of beer choices but I don't drink so can't offer anything about the drinks. Nice service and very clean restaurant. There is an outside area which is pleasant right now in the summer. My mom ordered the steak salad and loved it, I wish I would have ordered it. However I ordered the beer battered mushrooms and very much so regretted it. I can honestly say out of all the places I have ordered fried mushrooms, this place was the worst. The mushrooms were so soggy I couldn't eat them. And after already waiting 30min for our food I didn't want to order anything else in fear I would have to wait that long again. So if we ever come here again I think I will just order the salad. read more

I'm not a beer guy so can't help you there but the food was really good. I had the burger that was better than average and the wife had the steak salad which was really good. Good solid clean place and the deep fried items, we had an appetizer platter is delicious. Lightly battered and not greasy. The place was pretty full at 3:30 on a Saturday and had a ski lodge kind of atmosphere with all the sledders but was very family friendly and didn't have a dark bar feel.
