Bulldogz Gym

Bulldogz Gym

(1 review)

Ive been to a fair amount of gyms in the fylde and i think Bulldogs is by far the best. There's a…read moresubstantial amount of quality machines spread out over 1 large floor and the atmosphere is great, which i think is what you need from a good gym. The cost for daily, weekly and monthly membership is reasonable and im happy to pay my £6 p/week as i always leave feeling pumped! Around 85% of the gyms in blackpool/fylde use valuable space up with hot sauna's, luxury swimming pools and fancy steam rooms, (don't get me wrong this is great for relaxation), but most of the time the frustration lies in the fact that the gym is too small, this is NOT the case in bulldogs! Has you ever felt ripped off and frustrated because you couldn't get on a machine? Bigger gyms like Bulldogs that feature lost of machines allow me to achieve all of my fitness goals and do the workouts/exercises I came to the gym to do! At Bulldogs i actually stand a chance of packing on some muscle/loosing fat. The fact that there is no sauna/steam room, swimming pool and showers didn't bother me because as much as i love that, i came to the gym to have an intense workout and acheive my fitness goals, not to take it easy in a sauna, steam room or shower. The machines are great for working out every muscle in your body because there's a good variety, and there's often two of each machine. They are quality machines that have been looked after, you can tell bulldogs has put some good money into their gym, it is all worth it i say because it keeps me coming back. Motivation is important when working out, and i've found the music is in Bulldogs is what you need to find your own limits and keeping pushing yourself. When i leave, i feel like im 1 step closer to achieving a ripped physique and a healthier body. Bulldogs really allows me to add variety to my training as it has the biggest free weight area i've seen so far, there is two sets of each weight (dumbells). There's a lie down sunbed and two stand up one's all of which are affordable and hot! The gym has tanning products you can buy aswell as different supplements. If you want to burn fat by cardio there is a cardio room with tv's you can watch. The staff are freindly and supportive of your goals, and the people in the gym are sound. There's sofa's, magazines and proteing shakes available, and they taste nice as well as being quality muscle building products. Personally i don't talk a lot in the gym, i respect the gym and people and do what i have to do. Bulldogs is the place to get a super charged workout and feel satisfied that you've done your best when you've finished working out. Would i recommend Bulldog's gym over any other gym i've been to in blackpool and the Fylde so far? YES!

I've been to enough gyms around the world and have also gotten my Yelp badge for it, and I must say…read morethis is a pretty good gym at the cheapest in Blackpool at £12.95pm. Open 24 hours, very large and spacious with a huge number of machines make this ideal for those who like peak hours but don't want to wait for machines. I always went peak time (evenings around 5pm-7pm) and never had to wait for a machine as there was always lots free despite there being many people. The gym is maintained very clean including the toilets and showers, and it has a new modern feel to it with a huge variety of weight machines that you don't often come across in most gyms. The equipment is also new. They run a variety of classes, such as abs classes, bums and tums, circuits etc. which can all be easily booked via your online account. The online interface is great; very easy to use, tracks you gym usage by number of times went per week/month and duration spent in the gym into a cool graph. You can manage payment information, book classes, and also buy online items such as protein powders and clothing at a members discounted price. Some practical tips: bring your own lock for your locker, there is 2 hours free parking and also a number of bike racks around the area (I found the one outside Sainsbury near the council to be "safest" as there was always the Sainsbury security guard around there). So far, I have been to Helio, Bannatyne, the Village, Palatine and Reform gyms in Blackpool, and this gym is the cheapest and I'd rank it second best from Bannatyne (which is a posh gym with a pool, sauna, spa etc..) in terms of quality, size, cleanliness and variety of equipment.

The employee gave me the phone number and had to make the call on my pay as you go phone that went on for 15 minutes. The recommended solution was to sign up for another gym with Blackpool as the alternate gym that allowed a second gym for extra pound. When I then did this and got to the payment section it said there was a problem with the details entered for the credit card. To make sure it was not an issue with the card and being in the UK used a second card with the same result. Given I am an athlete in the UK and needed to continue with training, this is an unacceptable situation - their sign up system is completely inadequate and shows a lack of customer service.

Luxurious spa & fantastic restaurant for an excellent price…read more I was invited to join a friend here for the 'fantastic Friday' deal in June. I hadn't heard of this place before and when my friend described the deal to my on text message it sounded a little too good to be true. £99 for spa use (aqua thermal journey) on the Friday then dinner in the restaurant followed by an overnight stay. Breakfast was also included plus the use of the spa again on the Saturday morning until 11. I wondered if it was a mediocre location - I couldn't have been more wrong! We arrive at 2pm on the Friday on a gloriously sunny day. The hotel and spa are very new and look stunning. The staff are all friendly and very polite and attentive. They offered to carry our bags to our rooms and made every effort to help us. Due to booking quite late we were in a disabled access room on the ground floor but this didn't change anything regarding how lovely it was. Large, light and well furnished with a fridge, drink making facilities, a tv and everything we needed for a great stay. I had such a good nights sleep in the bed. We had treatments (paid for separately to the package) on the Friday. The spa is luxurious and brand new. One of my favourite parts of this experience is that you can wear the robe and slippers they provide all the time (apart from the evening meal) so the whole day and even at breakfast! Heaven. Every part of it is gorgeous and just being there is relaxing. My Swedish back massage was heaven. We then headed into the aqua thermal journey which consists of 7 rooms and experiences throughout the spa. There is also an internal pool and an external hot tub where we sat in the sun. We then relaxed on sun loungers in the Zen garden with gin and tonics. They have waiter service from the bar. The evening meal was sublime. Two courses were included but we opted to have dessert as well at an extra cost. Each part of the meal was perfect. We had goats cheese mousse and crackers as a little amuse bouche which was delicious then I had asparagus, artichoke and radish salad while my friend had the duck egg starter. Both beautifully preserved and the taste was exceptional. Our mains were beef and duck. Again the presentation and flavour was excellent. We had the same dessert, chocolate fondant with cherries. Amazing but I was quite full so couldn't mange the last mouthful. The service was faultless. I cannot recommend this place enough, every element is wonderful and I felt completely renewed after my visit here.

A Spa Weekend to refuel after a long hard working Christmas. I am going to break down my review…read moreinto different segments to make it easier for myself to review it, so here goes.... Booking... I saw billboards for this new luxury spa hotel in Lancashire whilst driving to our Manchester Markets every day, so looked it up on't tinternet. Turns out it's not too far away and reasonably priced. So I rang up to book two rooms on the Spa Break Package that includes dinner, bed, breakfast and use of the 'Aqua Thermal Journey'. Priced at £110 per person, this seemed like a good buy. At the time of booking I requested a treatments menu for the spa to be posted out to me so my folks could pick what luxuries they would like to indulge in during our stay. Unfortunately I never received this menu so I printed one out myself. When we had decided on our treatments I rang up again to book them only to be told there was no availability for any treatment during that weekend! I think not. So I emailed them and after a few concerned phone calls all our treatments were booked in. The hotel... The hotel itself is situated at the far end of a holiday home park, which I was not expecting! This however, did not affect the hotel one bit. It is amazing. Brand spanking new, great spacious rooms, comfy beds, good bathrooms, Molton & Brown toiletries to use (or bring home), the staff couldn't have been more helpful (with the exception of one woman I spoke to on the phone) and the service was overall top notch. The food... We had dinner and breakfast included in our package and I must say I am super glad. The food was like nothing I have ever experienced. I have never been one for fancy food where you get a little bit nicely arranged on a plate that costs a bomb, but this may have opened my eyes a little wider. The food was beautifully designed on great plates (or slates) but also there was enough on the plate to fill you up. They obviously have a very well trained chef. During our evening meal we were presented with canapés which were unexpected but brill. We enjoyed three courses, all of exceptional quality. Breakfast is the same story. Great selection of continental foods and also a choice of hot foods all beautifully presented. Afternoon Tea was our last treat whilst at this hotel, priced at £12.50 a head it was the perfect ending to our weekend getaway. The spa... WOW. 1st class. That is all. Visit it (and don't forget to use the outdoor hot tub!). The only concern I have to mention is to check your bill upon check out. All of our treatments were put on the bill twice, and the room rate was wrong. Good job I checked!

My…read moreinitial room (see below for what I mean by "initial") was not a large one, but then, I never expected it to be. It was the size I anticipate when visiting UK seaside resorts, particularly those in beautiful old hotels. (And it WAS a beautiful hotel, both in its exterior and public spaces.) All room fixtures were modernized, though, so the room itself didn't feel old. I found it a welcoming place to be. The staff was always helpful whenever I asked anything of them -- snapping photos of us, printing out documents, checking bags, phoning local businesses -- and seemed empowered to find solutions when a problem cropped up. For example -- I realized during my first night there that the radiator couldn't be gotten to work in my room, and when it couldn't be fixed on the spot and a space heater couldn't be found, the staff member who was dealing with me immediately upgraded me to a much better room where where the heat functioned. I was pleased to see she'd been given permission to take that initiative. As for the food ... Breakfast was included with my room rate, and the huge buffet featured all the hot and cold standards you could want, including the UK baked beans, mushrooms, and fried bread that puzzles a Yank like me. I can't speak to the quality of every item, since I'm basically a yogurt and granola guy when it comes to breakfast, maybe a bagel or croissant, too, but those were fine, and from the way others wolfed down sausages, eggs, etc., it didn't seem as if anyone had any complaints. I also had dinner one night with friends in the bar. I ordered a club sandwich, which had a sliced hard-boiled egg in it, something I've never seen in a club sandwich before. I enjoyed it in that "hmmm, this is interesting" kind of way that occurs when something familiar has been tweaked. All quality ingredients, though. And another thing about the bar -- the staff was always friendly as we hung out there was late into the night. Overall, the Imperial Hotel was a pleasant place to stay, and I look forward to my return.

I've been for food and drink at the Victory pub a number of times and the service is always excellent. Very friendly staff and good variety on the menu, all served to high quality. They have the usual pub food such as pizzas, chicken, salads, wraps and ciabattas, a big selection of burgers and some curry dishes too. Vegetarians are also catered for and prices are mostly around £10, portions are big. I really liked their veggie wrap and veggie burger. The also do some nice sweet potato fries here too. The gym is like a luxury gym; very modern with lots of TVs and also at each machine, two pools, steam room and sauna, as well as personal training and classes. A day pass is £10, and membership rates vary with off peak or peak. I used to be a member but not anymore, and it costed me about £40 per month at that time for full peak. The Starbucks in here is similar to any of the other ones but more expensive and they do not accept the Loyalty card. I've only been to the Italian restaurant once and it was ok. I much prefer the pub, but if you're looking for something more formal then it's a better choice but more pricy. The Village have a lot of meeting rooms as well so it's a great choice for hosting events, courses etc. and also do Wedding packages. Overall one of the nicest hotels in Blackpool along with the Hilton by the Promenade, the only downside being that it's out away from the town center. But for a quieter time it's great, and Stanley Park is just opposite the hotel. Parking is also free.

Attitude of staff on reception poor, I was told when complaining that I was lucky to have a room. Guest on same floor had told us they had seen mice in their room as they were leaving. I even offered to pay whatever I needed to at reception to get a better room, again staff didn't care. The clientele at this hotel was low quality, smell of weed several times outside and in. screaming children and adults. Walls paper thin. Bed small and uncomfortable, plus it looked as though a toddler had made it, me and my partner had to remake it. Pros: Staff generally nice ( apart from the previously mentioned woman on reception). Breakfast was nice. When the room above ours started doing star jumps and screaming at each other at 4 in the morning, security promptly went and shut them up after I complained. I would like to point out that night staff are different, as I'm sure the day woman on reception would have told me I was making it up. Conclusion 1/5. Do not stay here. All interior is tired, not old although it is, I mean broken, damaged, dirty, worn. Im quite laid back so enjoyed my stay, couple of beers and a TV on a night and I'm happy. If your a light sleeper, have a bad back ( like my partner), expecting a clean room with functional window. Then you probably won't be happy.
