The staff here are passionate about cycling as a sport and probably have been since the day they first sat on a tricycle. As well as having a huge range of mountain, racing and all kinds of bikes, they are immensely knowledgeable and good at repair jobs. On the downside, it is often quite difficult to get served you really do have to fight for their attention. Be prepared for a bit of cockney banter and you can even haggle down the price on occasions. This is nothing like shopping at Evans Bike Superstore, but so much more of a personal and interesting experience.

Avoid Brixton Cycles: Unacceptable Service and Rude Staff…read more Dear Potential Customers, I am writing to share my extreme frustration and disappointment with the service I received from Brixton Cycles. I brought my bike in for a repair that was promised to be completed within 2 to 5 days. However, it has now been over 9 days, and every time I call for an update, I am told the bike is not ready, but they will look at it right now. This has been the case for the past 4 days, causing me significant inconvenience and additional commuting costs. This is the second time I have used Brixton Cycles services, and both times the service has been delayed and mishandled. On this occasion, I called around 18:40 to inquire if my bike was ready. A woman informed me that it was not, but she could look at it. I expressed my frustration and asked how this could be, as every time I call, I get the same response. She then started saying she is not responsible for her colleagues' work and will not take accountability for their failures. She repeatedly talked over me, preventing me from explaining that I needed the bike ready before my holiday, which now forces me to rent a bike, incurring additional costs. The lack of responsibility and basic customer service skills displayed by the staff at Brixton Cycles is unacceptable. I cannot understand how a company allows such disorganized and dysfunctional behavior to persist. The employee's refusal to take any form of accountability and her disrespectful attitude reflect poorly on the business. As a customer, I am understandably furious. Not only have I been lied to repeatedly, but I have also been disrespected and ignored. To make matters worse, when I tried to explain my situation, the call was transferred to another employee who also talked over me and eventually hung up on me. When I rushed to the store, there was no one available to address my concerns. This level of service is beyond unacceptable. I have worked in customer service for 5 years, and I am appalled at the way I was treated. It is evident that the team at Brixton Cycles lacks basic customer service skills and manners. Such behavior should not be tolerated, and it is clear that there are significant issues within the company's culture and operations. I will never again take my bike to Brixton Cycles or advise any of my friends and family to use their services. It is incredible that this generation of young people has no social or professional skills to deal with customers, especially when customers have every right to be angry. I demand a resolution to this situation. I expect my bike to be repaired immediately. I don't even want any compensation for the additional costs I have incurred, nor a formal apology for the rude and unprofessional behavior of the staff because it is clear that Brixton Cycles allows this as part of its company culture. If these issues are not addressed promptly, I will have no choice but to take further action, including sharing my experience on social media and review platforms. No branding or big push just a down to earth honest know their sheet bike shop. I took my beloved 80"s legendary Bontrager Racelight for a rebuild. Awesome job and kept most of the original spec by sourcing stuff for me. It is a great shame that this shop has to fight for a space in the ever growing moneyed mono-cultured Brixton And whats more suffer idyat people buying bikes on line then expecting a bespoke mending service for a basically rubbish bike - something I observed a while ago when I was in there. This is a proper traditional bike shop and it's great. It's got that wonderful combination of part…read moreworkshop and part shopshop. In the two inner rooms they both sell new and used bikes and also make and mend others. Many of the bikes in the shop are their own brand and they are mighty fine bikes - in an old school upright way you'd especially like if you were Dutch and totally unafraid at the thought of having no acceleration power to get away from bendy buses. Because of the craftsmanship many of the bikes are obviously quite expensive but you can easily pick up a second hand one you wouldn't know wasn't new for around 100 quid. They also do a good range of kid's bikes here so check those out too.

Kudos to these guys: they replaced the inner tube on the rear wheel of my dutch bike, which, with a…read morefull chaincase, hub brake and hub gear to navigate through and then wheel to reset, is arguably one of the time-consuming repairs mechanics can do. So much so in fact, that I've found other mechanics in the UK somewhat reluctant to take it on. Not so CycleSurgery. Okay, so they charged me quite a lot for it (£30), more than I was told (£20) when I handed the bike in. It also took them four attempts over three days to get everything right (for which they drop a star), but to their credit they immediately agreed to fix the problem outstanding in each case (at first the wheel wasn't straight and then the gears weren't working) the next day. I ended up with a complimentary service of my gear shifter, a new gear cable and an offer to adjust the gear cable in 3-4 weeks time when it stretches slightly, all of which was pretty nice of them. I also found them to be friendly and courteous throughout. So sure, while the whole job may have taken them longer to do than expected, they did at least do it all without objection and I'm confident that they'd do the job in one go next time. So much so that I'll definitely be going back to these guys with any other repairs my bike may have. Beyond their workshop, they also have an good range of bikes, including road bikes, hybrids, mountain bikes and Pashley city bikes. I've also bought and ordered a couple of parts through this shop too and was happy with the service I received on each occasion. Overall, I'd recommend this place .

Breathtaking bikes on display at price tags equally staggering! Lots of smaller cycle accessories are also for sale - at more reasonable prices. There are lots of brochures for cycling events around Europe, and tablets for more information on each bike. As a fan of cycling over cars, it was good to see a bike show room take iver some prime real estate much like a fancy car showroom (think Tesla). Some bikes' prices are definitely within the range of a decent road bike - something to work towards. A must see for any bike enthusiast. Staff are friendly and are willing to help if necessary.
