Short rib enchiladas
Abby T.

I have been wanting to try this place and I'm so glad we did! The ambiance was amazing inside. I loved the lighting and the look of the place. The food was good in my opinion. You get a huge portion and the prices aren't that crazy for a downtown spot. I had the short rib enchiladas and the flavor was great. I wish the short rib was more tender. There were some pieces inside that were tough and dry and some that wet really fatty. I was hoping that the short rib would be finely shredded, but mine had a lot of chunks in it. Overall, the flavors were great. I would go back to try another dish!

First of all the FLAN! It was delicious and the waitress even told us about using their to go services for $1 off churros or flan. We hadn't tried the house fries or nachos before and both were delicious. Even for leftovers the next day, they kept well, heated up well, and the FRIES! Hardly anyone's fries heat up as great as De Nada's did. Another delicious visit.

Mango strawberry frozen margarita

Very beautiful curated space, loved all the decor and different colors and design aspects. Ordered the queso with chorizo which had the perfect spice level it was fenomenal, the salsa on the other hand was not my favorite. If you're going for a margarita I would recommend the frozen it was delicious, had the house as well but way too sweet for my taste. Food was delicious although the rice imo was a little dry and mushy at the same time. Would I go back, yeah I'd give it a second try.

Was greeted immediately upon entering; hostess was friendly. We were first seated at a booth, moved to the bar. The booths are TIGHT. Chips and salsa are free. We ordered the trio dip which consisted of queso, guacamole, and ground beef with cheddar and crema. Out of the 3 my favorite was the ground beef with cheddar and crema, although it wasn't crema it was just sour cream. Frozen margarita was good. Will go back and try other things.

Pollo con mole

I've been excitedly waiting for De Nada to open, and every minute was worth it! The inside is so cozy and warm, and the food is heavenly! From classic Tex-Mex options to dishes with elevated spin, De Nada's menu is nothing short of spectacular. I already know this will be a spot that I frequent when I'm in downtown Birmingham. What we ordered: Pollo con Mole- you can't go wrong with this classic dish. Every ingredient paired well with one another, and the sauce was delicious. Mahi Mahi- the avocado lime dressing was so good, I had to ask for more on the side. The mahi was seasoned to perfection and left me full all night. Bonus... both of our entrees were served with FRESHHH WARM TORTILLAS! These were to die for. I know I'll be back!

Okay, let's start with the aesthetics. This place is gorgeous, down to the little folders your check comes in at the end. They clearly paid attention to the details. The service was a bit spotty, but that's somewhat expected for a brand-new restaurant. There were two things that stood out, though: we asked for lime wedges for the tacos, and they were brought out in someone's bare hands instead of on a plate or napkin, which was off-putting. Also, our server asked if the food was "fully cooked"... which, I mean, I would certainly hope so lol. The appetizers (queso, salsa, and patatas bravas) were definitely the highlight - super flavorful and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the entrees (chimichanga and steak street tacos) didn't quite measure up. The steak was chewy, and overall the dishes were lacking flavor. The pineapple agua fresca, though? Absolutely fire. Overall, I'd be willing to give this place another shot, but I'll probably wait 6 months to a year to let them work out the kinks.

Emmas Quesadilla Plate with chicken

Restaurant just officially opened today. Came here for lunch with friends. Very friendly and inviting atmosphere. The menu is sure to have something for everyone. They do not have their liquor license yet but will soon. I ordered the Emmas Quesadilla plate with chicken... delicious. The chicken was nicely seasoned. The owner came to the table to see how our experience was which was very personable. I cannot wait to come back to try another dish. And Aimelis was a wonderful server!!

My husband and I went on a Saturday night for dinner and drinks. Firstly, the restaurant is beautiful-- they put a lot of effort into the details. We sat at the bar so, while the initial greeting was slow, service was reasonably good after that. The margaritas and palomas were very good. We had the dip trio for an appetizer and liked all the dips. The queso was pretty standard. Guacamole was surprisingly good-- I was worried at first because it wasn't as chunky as I like, but it was fresh and the flavor was on point. For entrees, we got the plantain nachos and the pollo con mole. My nachos came out a good bit before my husband's mole, and I was almost done eating by the time he got his food. I thought maybe it was because my entree was technically an appetizer, but I noticed the same thing happened with the couple next to us. The mole was the best I've ever tried. I normally don't care for it because it's almost always too sweet, but theirs is a perfect balance of flavors. We had tres leches cake and churros for dessert. The tres leches cake was fantastic. The churros were a little dense, but very good. They are fresh made, not frozen, which is hard to find locally. Update: Hubs and I went back a week or so later at lunch time. We tried to sit at a table, but the service was bad/nonexistent so we moved to the bar. We had chicken tinga nachos, and the chicken tinga was well seasoned and flavorful. All in all, we've been happy with the food, although it's expensive. The table service isn't great, so I think the place is ideal for drinks and apps at the bar.

The street tacos were great. The carne asada was my favorite. Seasoned to perfection. The drinks were not watered or over made with syrup. I would definitely return just for the drinks. The greeters were welcoming and the server allowed the meal to flow without excessive interruptions. The atmosphere was very pleasant, you feel as if you're stepping into a different place from the outside.

Burrito

The chicken tortilla soup best in the metro hands down. Tons of chicken with plenty of veggies. Flavor bomb. The burrito was good. Very classy decor with an upscale menu. Tons of margarita options and cold beer to choose from. Service was excellent and server was very attentive. The bathroom was very nice and clean. Parking can be somewhat of a challenge, overall experience was great. We will definitely be back for the soup and to try some other menu options.

Steak, quesadilla side

Overall, good place to eat. Right now, they do not have their liquor license so no margaritas with your entrée. I did get a side quesadilla because the waitress said the quesadillas were rather large. The quesadilla was good. The flowered tortilla was very tasty, however, the steak was a touch salty and there were an odd either prosciutto or bacon in it. Was not expecting that. But the quesadilla was good. The salsa and chips were nice and fresh. I did split some queso, but it was very small and a little on the expensive side. Seating was not really comfortable. I sat at a booth. Maybe different if I sat in a table chair combo. I would like to go back and try a few other things.

My daughter's dinner choice was excellent. De Nada, a newly opened spot (just 2 weeks ago), offers a warm, rustic atmosphere that feels like home, combined with great service despite a few team members not showing up for work. The GM ensured guests had a great experience by asking for authentic feedback. All the dishes we enjoyed had robust flavors that tickled our palate and were delicious and truly satisfying. Lastly, although their liquor license hasn't been approved yet, I can only imagine how great the drinks will be! De Nada is a must-try for excellent food and service.

Birmingham's newest hotspot! Upscale Mexican is exactly what the Parkside district has needed, and we didn't even know it until now. I got the Chile Relleno with chicken. Great flavors, lots of cheese pulls, and all-around delicious. Would definitely get this again! Prices are a little high, but worth it for the absolutely beautiful atmosphere and the great food. Will definitely be back!

Hour long wait, half the tables were empty in the restaurant. That's a nope for me. We went elsewhere.

Tucana Tiki is a great experience from start to finish when you walk in it's like traveling to an…read moreisland oasis. They have multiple seating options; the first floor has booths that can accommodate smaller and large groups. The bar area is very inviting and fun to be able to watch your drinks being made and upstairs offers a more private area. When not seated at the bar they do have someone to come around to make sure you have what you need. The servers are very nice and tend to remember you, which is a great feeling. The menu rotates seasonally, which makes it easier to try new things. My favorite menu item so far has been the cheeseball that was on the menu around Christmas time. It had a great flavor served with crackers the only thing is when we came back after the first of the year it wasn't on the menu anymore. On my most recent visit I had the queso which also had great flavor, served with blue corn tortilla chips. When it comes to the drinks I like how on the menu they let you know how strong it is using toucans. Many of the drinks feature rum, but they do still offer some gin and tequila options. Everything I've had has been good and something I would try again. I would like to note that many of the drinks are fruity and can be somewhat sweet. At Christmas time they even had holiday themed drinkware which I felt was a nice touch. If you are not a drinker, they also have options for mocktails. Which has been great for me the last couple of months. I didn't care for the Phony Negroni, but I think Negroni itself might be an acquired taste

Service is great and the drinks are spectacular. Great date night spot or for fun with friends.read more

It's a pretty neat hangout spot with a bar and food service, virtual baseball and football, bowling, darts, and several other games. Our work event had lunch catered, including green beans, mac and cheese, sliders, chicken tenders, rosemary potatoes, cookies, brownies, and doughnut holes. Overall, the food was pretty good. The mac and cheese was a little bland and could have used more seasoning, but the chicken tenders were seasoned and cooked perfectly. Honestly, if I wasn't there for work, I probably would have gorged myself on those chicken tenders . And the brownie? Spectacular. Thick, moist, and super fudgy, definitely the highlight for me! Service was great also-they came around routinely checking in to see if we needed any drinks, cleaned up plates, etc. Not necessarily somewhere I'd go specifically for myself, but I can absolutely see the appeal for groups, work events, or anyone looking for a fun place to hang out, eat, drink, and play some games.

The venue is spacious and has plenty of room for larger parties, creating an energetic social environment. On this visit, we tried the virtual reality games and came away underwhelmed. Some of the equipment needed to fully enjoy the experience was unavailable, and the gameplay itself felt clunky and repetitive after a few rounds. We skipped the food but enjoyed our drinks, and our server, Mike, was friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout our visit. While the VR attractions were not for us, the overall ambiance left a positive impression. We'd be willing to return to check out the boutique bowling, which looks like it may be the better experience. If you're looking for a fun place to gather with friends, Fairway Social is worth considering, just manage your expectations for the virtual games.
