If you come here, watch out for a large waiter with the face of a child and the body of Santa Claus. My girlfriend and I were walking around Rembrandt Square for a place to eat dinner when there was a sudden downpour of rain. We decided on this restaurant and hurried inside. It wasn't crowded at the time, but the look that the server gave us was as if we'd broken into his home. Without approaching, he gestured for me to leave our umbrella on the ground, then he waved us toward him. I asked for a table for two and he seemed to be holding in a shrug and a roll of his eyes as he flicked his finger at one near him. We sat and he proceeded to be extremely rude as he bugged us to give him our drink orders right away. My girlfriend and I have never sat at a restaurant but then decided to leave before ordering because of a waiter's behavior, but we were contemplating doing so at this point. A few minutes went by as he continued to bother us to order, even though the place wasn't busy, and soon we decided to get up and leave. We thanked him on the way out to be polite, and he replied "I'm not stupid. You just came in here to wait for the rain to stop." "What?" I asked, confused as to what made him think that about us. But he just gestured rudely at the door. Not wanting a confrontation, and still confused, we left. We had a bitter taste in our mouths the rest of the night. read more
