Black angus tenderloin and smoked eggplant
    Maggie T.

Came to Black and Blue for weeknight dinner with a few coworkers and we had a nice time!! For appetizers, I really enjoyed the grilled scallops, and the burrata was good too. I'd pass on the smoked aubergine next time though. It wasn't my favorite. I got the black angus tenderloin as my entree and it was really nice. I loved that it came with sea salt and pepper on the serving board so I could season it to my liking. They also offer vegan steak options which was something I've never seen before. My only complaint was the service we received. We had an issue with the table we were initially seated at and the waitress wasn't the most understanding when we asked to move. Once we were settled at our new table we had no issues though!

We were in the mood for good hamburgers so we came here. We met a lovely man by the name of Elias. I remember because that is my husband's name. Even though they were extremely busy we got our drinks and food in good time. All employees had a big smile on their face. The burgers were excellent, fries delicious, and my espresso martini divine! We also shared the chocolate cake and lemon cheesecake. I was too full for dessert but couldn't resist because it was so delicious. Everything was perfect but the best part was the friendliness of Elias. He made you feel like you were friends. If we ever come back to Amsterdam this will definitively be our first stop! (The pictures are from the following day) If I could I would give it 10 stars!

Very cute place in Amsterdam. Came here for a work dinner and the food was delicious! I'm not a big red meat eater so I didn't order the steak but they had plenty of other option such as scallops, oysters, shrimp, and what I ordered for my entree - the cornish hen. It was served with a side of belgian fries and aoli and I also got some grilled veggies. Had a chocolate lava cake for dessert and the wine selections were good as well. Recommend visiting them if in the area.

My last night here in Amsterdam and I just came back from a day trip in Antwerp. I was hungry and wanted to come back to this steak house for one last dinner. As soon as I walked in. One of the servers from my first visit (Ilius?) greeted me a warm welcome back and already I felt like this was "home". As usual, the restaurant seemed busy and I took a seat at the bar. I started with a beer and placed my order for the same meal I had the first time I had come here. Beef Carpaccio. Tender, soft, seasoned nicely, and I love the toasted pinenuts. The flat iron steak, cooked to perfection. I learned why this place is called Black & blue. It has to do with the reference to the temperature of cooking a steak. From black charred to rare blue. Nice back story to get a little context. I met the executive chef (Matteo?), nice guy and so was everyone that works there. Shout out to Catalina for being so nice behind the bar. I wish this place continued success and hopefully I'll be back in the future. If you haven't been here. You should. Njoy!

    Small side salad

We ordered fresh bread and a salad. We shared the ribeye for two which came with fries. The steak needed a little salt which came on the butcher block. The fries were outstanding! Would return. Service was good but not outstanding. However, they were very busy.

So disappointing. The beer was delicious as were the fries, but when I ordered the ribeye for two I assumed I was getting a big ribeye. Unbeknownst to me it wasn't even a rib eye. I don't know what cut it was but it wasn't good. It wasn't even huge. But I guess I'm fat and from America so I have grander expectations of quantity.

Best steak I've ever had! The sweet potato fries were fantastic as well. I most definitely recommend.

Excellence steak house in Amsterdam! After our trips to Van Gogh museum and Ann Frank house we had dinner at the Black and Blue steakhouse, a .07 mile walk! We split the 600 gram Angus Rib-Eye, that's 1.3 pounds of premium meat charcoal grilled! It was cooked to perfection served with a bearnaise sauce! We also had three 500ml beers each, we walked to our hotel! The place was not vert touristy at all. and a welcome change to most places to eat in Amsterdam! Fun and friendly staff.

First time at the Black and Blue restaurant. The atmosphere is nice. Service slow and waiters don't check on you specially if you're seated in the back. We ordered the ribeye for 2 that came with fries. The steak was good, but it took too long to bring it to our table. Staff are friendly but not very knowledgeable. I asked the waiter if the meat is local or imported and he was not sure and didn't bother to check. However, we still had a good time.

    The wine area.

Great ambiance, incredible views, and a solid overall experience. Service in Europe is . . . different. Not bad, just not what I'm used to, so I try not to let that impact things too much. One thing I do want to call out: my daughter's friend has a severe allergy to seafood, nuts, and kiwi, and the staff was incredibly attentive and accommodating. That wasn't our experience everywhere in Europe, so it definitely stood out and was appreciated. We went simple with two steaks: the "Mrs. Porter" and a bone-in ribeye. Mrs. Porter needed a little more seasoning, but the ribeye was . Sides? Honestly don't even remember them . . . which probably says enough. The highlight might've been the "Mr. Fox" dessert. They bring out this chocolate fox head, pour liquid nitrogen into it, and crack it open tableside. Super cool presentation. Dessert itself was good, not amazing . . . but I'd order it again just for the show. End of the day: great ambiance, great views, good food, and a fun experience. I'll definitely be back.

The drink prices on the other hand are outrageous. 36 euro for the smallest martini I've ever had. Don't get me wrong, it tasted great, but still. Paid about 82 euro for two martinis and a non alcoholic drink. Probably gonna steer clear for the rest of our trip. There are much better and more affordable options outside the hotel.

It's a nice little place, you can sit in the front of the restaurant where the chefs are cooking or the back dining room, away from the outer doors. We opted for the front, it was neat to watch them cut and cook our meat. We went with the Wagyu carpaccio, scallops, and tuna tartare as the appetizers. These were all absolutely incredible. So fresh tasting, made to perfection. The right amount of flavor. Next we ordered the tomahawk. We didn't realize until after we were eating that it was bison. It was so fantastic, I'm actually glad we didn't know because neither myself or husband had ever tried it before so it gave us the chance to try something new that we may not have ordered. It was cooked perfectly for us. The right amount of pink. It was so tender to chew and in my opinion the right about of fat on the cut. The lobster was great, it had the right amount of butter than a slight hint of lemon, not overpowering. The breads were good but the butters stood out, absolutely heavenly. So creamy and flavorful. I am going to dream about this when we leave. The broccoli/cauliflower and mushrooms were just ok to us, nothing gave us a wow on them. Overall the meal was fantastic. My husband said it was the best meal in his life. Our server was very kind and attentive. The chef and owner were also exceptional. Everyone made us feel very welcomed and taken care of. We never felt like we were being overlooked or ignored. We would recommend this place if you're looking for a great meal and service and not a bad price tag. For the quality of food, the price is on par with that and worth it all.
