This place had great reviews and I was excited to check it out. I grabbed a seat at the bar and felt quite awkward as the bar stools protrude into the main walkway used by the waitstaff and the floorboards kind of buckle under their footsteps. Anyway, I immediately ordered some chorizo and chicken, only mildly annoyed by the waitstaff zooming behind me with plates.
When you order chicken here, it is accompanied by a huge chef's knife. Within minutes of placing my order, a waitress who had clumsily placed the knife on top of the plate she was bussing without securing it *dropped the chef's knife* just inches away from my feet. I couldn't believe it. I gave her a dirty look but she was unfazed. She picked it up, placed it in the same unsecured, unsafe way, and sped to the kitchen.
The chorizo and chicken were quite good. But when it came time to bus my table I noticed my waitress piling a precarious stack of plates and... yep... she placed the gigantic, sharp chef's knife on top of everything without a care in the world. It started to slip in my direction, I flinched, and she grabbed it by the handle and stopped it from falling. I never thought I would find myself saying this about a restaurant but I legitimately did not feel safe here. Stop playing with these huge knives if you aren't going to follow basic safety precautions. read more
