I am a frequent visitor to Amsterdam and always make it a point to stop by this cozy bistro near the Leidseplein...this trip I got to stop by for both a drink and an appetizer but then again the next night for dinner... The owner/host/waiter/cook all as one is as convivial a person as you would care to meet in life. He is willing to go off menu to ensure that your dining experience is 5 star worthy. He is also willing to adjust portion size so food will not go to waste... Make it a point to stop there at least for a glass of Tempranillo...but the food will NOT disappoint... Meal (al fresco)... If I could give two and a half stars I would. My wife and I were so incredibly disappointed by this place. Months ago I googled this place looking for great places to eat in Amsterdam and this place was at the top of our list. Boy we couldn't of been more wrong. The hospitality of our waiter was absolutely horrendous! To start we tried to order our drinks, but the mixologist was even there yet, so he stated it I can make it for you but I don't know how it will turn out. Next, we did tried to order our main course, but we didn't understand the conversion for the size of the meats. Our waiter gave a quick, sarcastic answer to my wife and I saying we could of expressed ourselves better. How hard is it ask for the size of the meats? Not hard at all. He's the one that clearly didn't understand. Finally, we were just about to finish our meal and I asked for the bill. The waiter said "but you haven't finished yet." The service here was very cold and incredibly unwelcoming. The only thing that semi made up for it was the food, which was amazing. read more

Did a little research and this place came up as the best Argentinian steakhouse in Amsterdam and after our meal here, I have to agree(somewhat). Not having had any other steakhouses in the city it is hard to judge but here are a few things that stand out. The restaurant is situated in a neighborhood area far away from the normal touristy area and yet had a diverse clientele of tourists and locals. The place is tiny and quint with a great atmosphere. The food was great (though for some it may have lacked a bit of seasoning, but that could be a cultural thing). I definitely would recommend it and would recommend making a reservation, unless you want to wait for 30 minutes or more. The 3 euro sign means that it is pricy but I think the price is actually slightly less than what is average for Amsterdam where you can spend $25+, as a couple, on lunch when you are just having a sandwich. read more

As an Uruguayan living in Amsterdam I can say this restaurant really pleased me! The empanadas were good, but the bife de lomo uruguayo was amazing, just like home! The dessert ( un budín de pan con dulce de leche y cognac ) tasted really good. The waiters were friendly but didn't always seem to get what I told them. The live music was a great addition to my experience! After the meal we drunk some maté and we left the restaurant with a very good feeling! read more

Meat meat meat... and gambas. Location is the nice Lindergracht in the Jordan. When weather is nice, like last night, they set up few tables outside. The restaurant itself is very small and packed with tables. Queen's day evening was packed... but we managed to get a table outside.. and enjoy at the same time the beat of the city (bom bom bom) from the near party squares. Food was good. Well prepared and meat was really delicious, from the cotoletta to the stake to the gambas. Served with nice roasted veggies and fries... the thick ones... a Dutch tradition. Great caipirinhas to start the dinner and then we got onto a nice caraff of sangria... which I have to say was not so strong.. but very tasty!! While we were waiting for the food we had been served a very nice toasted bread, almost focaccia, with delicious garlic butter.... we had to wait a while actually.... but place was packed. Over all not top restaurant service but pleasant and nice. All the ladies roaming trough the tables were very helpful and nice. We came here based on the recommendations of other Yelpers. I'm not sure if they were having a bad night or what, but I really didn't see what others are seeing about this place. We ordered some margaritas, which were unusually small (okay, I get it - it's Europe) but the kicker was that, when we tried to order a second round, she told us we couldn't. I thought she was joking and I waited for her to laugh or crack a smile, but nope. She informed us that they were out of tequila. Keep in mind that we were the FIRST customers of the day, so they had plenty of time to stock the bar beforehand. Anyway, the food... The beef empanadas were fabulous...dare I say better than the ones back home? They were the highlight of the meal for me. If I ever go back to this place (which I doubt) I'd probably just get some empanadas. We got the mixed grill, and found the meat to be very inconsistently cooked. On my skewer, I had a well done piece, a medium piece, a medium-rare piece, and a rare piece. Not too impressed. The first server we had (a young woman) was not very excited to serve us or even friendly, but later on, the next one (guessing the owner?) was very nice and it seemed like he wanted to make sure we had a good experience. I've been here four times now. Twice, the steak was delicious and the other two it was just good. I think the mixed grill with the corn cobbs is a good choice because you get different cuts of meat. The beef empanadas however are AWESOME! I could eat a ton of those in a row :) The other appetizers were good, but the empanada overshadows everything else for me. If you want to get the best Argentinean dish in the city just do your reservation in Luna. Authentic and well done Argentinean restaurant. I can say maybe the only real one in the city. Parrillada for 2 or a milanesa are the best options. People there speak English and Spanish most of them. Service is good and fast. So gentile and way ready to help you out with any question about each dish. Argentina is not only about meat. Deserts are so good in the place. Try the flan con Dulce de Leche. Lovely!! Also on Saturdays they have live music and if you are in the mood you can just stand and dance or just sing from your table. Go and enjoy the taste of the southern country in Latin America. We ordered the Luna mix for 49€ a mix salad that was more than enough for me and my husband, the also bring some bread butter and olive oil as starter. Argentine version of steak frites! We stumbled into Luna as it started to rain outside and it was a welcome reprieve. The waitstaff are friendly and the food is good. They have a few things on the menu but the star seems to be the steak. Choose between tenderloin, rib eye and entrecôte, 200 or 300 grams. The food was tasty and copious. Located away from the main attraction, this argentinian restaurant was looking great from all the reviews online. We went on a weeknight without any reservation and have been said that we would have to wait for 30 minutes for a table. The staff was not overly welcoming at first and we saw that some tables were empty ,so we didn't quite understand. (Bare in mind that it was rainy and there is no much to see around that place AND that we had to wait outside). Eventually after that 30 minutes, we got to sit in and picked up from their menu the recommended dish: a selection of pieces of meat from 4-5 different countries. We picked also a chimichuri sauce that came 10 minutes after the dish. Unfortunately it was lacking of flavour, the meat was over cooked ( we asked for medium well and it was well done) and we couldn't eat even 1 third of the plate as some pieces were inedible. The rice side dish was bland and served in a very small portion. Overall, I thought we lost our time and money there. The waitress was surprised that we didn't finish our plates but didn't ask us if something was wrong. Very deceiving experience. read more

Excellent steak house located in the Jordaan. It has outdoor and indoor seating. The indoor was a little stuffy the day we visited. We shared a steak plate with a variety of steak from different countries. It came with a variety of sauces. We also ordered fries and mushrooms and veggies. All the dishes were very tasty. There was a bit of a distraction outside and the owner comped us a phenomenal dessert plate. Highly recommended. read more

Major meat hangover. This place was really good. Arrived early for a reservation for 8 people and our table was ready and waiting for us. Reservations are a good idea because people were walking in all through the night. The caprese salad, chicken legs and tomato soup were great starters. French fries were awesome but the reason to go is for the steak. We recommend the Argentinean 300gr and share. The meat was so tender and lots of flavor. read more

I have been there quite often during my staying in Amsterdam. It is definitely the best restaurant for steaks in Amsterdam. I can just recommend to everyone to stay at least one night there and enjoy the amazing tasting steaks and atmosphere. You can choose your steak and the origin of it as well. Wow, the food was delicious!!! From the service to the wine selection. Recommend making reservation. We almost didn't get seated since they were booked for the evening, but they were super nice to offer us a table which was reserved an hour and a half from the time we got there.
