Al's Clock Repair

It's been almost 2 months since I dropped my little clock off for repair. The gentleman behind the…read morecounter bruskly informed me that he would try to find the part I would need to fix it (an eight year old Pottery Barn bedside clock) but couldn't guarantee anything. I had to pay $20 for him to try to find the part the battery goes in. Well, okay. Said he would call me when he had an answer. I've called twice since then. Had my ticket number and everything, but both times folks said they would call me back. Still waiting for a call...from SOMEONE. Bye bye, 20 bucks, methinks.

Four months later,January 20, 2012 I still hear Theresa say "the parts are coming in today" When I told her no, I want my clock back, you have been telling me for 4 months the parts are coming in. She responded ok you can pick it up as it is, it is all apart in pieces. The image of my trying to put the clock back together was frightening. I told her no, I want it back in the condition I gave it to you. She said you can pick it up this afternoon. Well I got my clock back IN PIECES plus monetary compensation for the mess. Satisfied that I received some compensation, but not satisfied that I was deceived over 4months and that the clock which had been in my family for over 40 years is now a bag of parts. Do not recommend this place at all!

Smith and Son Jewelers - The only jeweler choice! I have…read moreworked with Andrew several times over the last decade.I can't say enough positive things about this master jeweler. He truly is a magician.Everything about my multiple experiences was A++. Customer service, pricing, design, communication, and especially his craftsmanship is top tier.Andrew designed my first engagement ring around 2010.I returned to him again from out of state to redesign and refresh our first rings' look he had designed. A completely new design with many new diamonds.I was able to trade in and then upgrade Andrew's original custom ring from over 10+ years prior and provide my wife something different and special at our 10-year anniversary mark.I actually worked with Andrew from Maryland on my revisited experience and he made the process easy and convenient without ever having to step foot back in his Massachusetts stores.I vouch for everyone looking to get service done with my honest and utmost approval and trust in Andrew Smith service and craftsmanship. Full confidence with 0 disappointment.I would recommend Smith and Sons 1000x over to anyone who asks and would urge those considering their inventory or the need for custom designs to go no further than Smith and Sons.Thank you Andrew and I wish you all the continued best! It was a pleasure working with you both times over the years on items that could have easily been stressful, but you eliminated any such feelings with what is normally a large stressful investment with unlimited options for customers.

I had this company change batteries and size my 3 watches exclusively from 2008 to 2012. Over…read morethese years, 2 of these watches experienced problems I had initially chalked up to wear and tear. Watches do not last forever, necessarily. I had a Fossil watch I've owned for probably 3 years. in 2011, I took it in because I guessed the battery had died. I was told when they changed the battery, that it did not work anymore. No further explanation could be given. I had a Diesel watch I owned for probably 5 years. In 2009, I took it in for the same reason. This watch takes multiple batteries for different reasons. When the one for the time went out, I asked them to replace the one for the date also -- it had stopped working a few months prior. I was told that the date function no longer worked. I moved away from that area and took these 2 watches to a local jeweler this afternoon, just to see what could be done. I like the watches and really can't afford to buy new ones. He opened the watches in front of me and showed me what these people did. On the Fossil, the bottom battery connector was completely missing out of the watch and the gasket on the back cover was gone. I may as well throw the thing out. It hasn't worked since last year and there's no way anyone there is going to acknowledge they ruined it, much less worked on it months ago. I don't like that they KNEW why the watch didn't work and it was most likely their own fault because they possibly carelessly removed the old battery and ripped the connector out with it. On the Diesel, the employee somehow managed to stick a battery on top of the top battery connector... meaning, it wasn't even attached to the watch. It needed to be placed between the two connectors and here, clearly, they forced it to sit on top of the fitting. The readout actually works and the battery sat awkwardly in the wrong position for THREE other battery changes. Nobody noticed the error all that time. Unfortunately, it hadn't worked since 2009 and I had to ask the jeweler to program it since I hadn't the slightest idea anymore. I'll be contacting the store manager or owner on this problem. I'm really upset about their neglience and lack of education to do something they should be able to do routinely. Again, I don't expect anything out of it because I have no proof because when the watch didn't work, I didn't pay -- therefore didn't receive a receipt. But, he or she should be aware. So should you.
