My good friend said we HAD to go here for ice cream when we were on vacation and we made it! John loves ice cream- so it was a no brainer. The place was PACKED, like, circle the building twice to snag a parking spot, line out the door busy! And they have a decent size parking lot too- on a little corner, this spot is a red hot, local flavor, ice cream shop. Cash only- they send staff out to go through the line for easy orders, like John's, to go grab a single cone and return to the customer, collect the cash and return with change. Easy peesy- honestly I was shocked how quickly we were in and out of the line! John got one of my favorites- mint chocolate chip and yes it was green ice cream, a requirement for good mint chocolate chip ice cream! In a waffle cone too- which was delicious! I only had a couple licks and a couple pieces of waffle cone. My friend told us to only order a small because good gracious- the servings are HUGE! Happy John makes for a happy me. This is one of the best ice cream spots in the north towns! Loaded up with all the Perry's Ice Cream you could want. It's a good summer time location. The staff are nice and service is pretty quick. It's just perry's with awesome selections of flavors to choose from that you don't usually see in your local grocery stores. They also sell sundaes, banana split, shakes, floats, coolers. Huge portions and inexpensive. I had the small cup size and Bf got the large in a cone, but ended up asking for a cup (wasn't expecting that! LOL!) they gave you so much ice cream. They take cash only. So if you don't have any, ATM is available inside. Great customer service. Pup cups are available for your fur babies and help support the SPCA. It's only Perry's ice cream, nothing is fancy about it. So I can sort of understand why people say De Dee's is overrated. Especially, since it's not even homemade ice cream. But here is why, you should still come here and enjoy yourself. The choices of ice cream they have available is enormous. Depending on what area you are from, you will not have all the flavors available at your local grocery store. De Dee's has flavors I never knew about. Another great reason to come here is the amount of ice cream they give you so much ice cream. If I were to compare it to another shop, my small strawberry cheesecake in a waffle cone (at De Dee's) would be considered a medium/large anywhere else. Well worth the trip here. read more

But, the only downfall is that parking is always an issue, the lot is in such a bad spot, traffic is always bad, and it's difficult to get in and out of the lot. Walking into De Dee's you definitely feel like a kid again! Eyes wide open and big smiles on everyone's face sets the tone here for a nice evening of delicious ice cream in the Cataract City. The staff is super friendly and moves the line along efficiently. De Dee's has a whole wall of choices of Perry's hard ice cream flavors. Some flavors are not even sold in stores. One of my go to's is the Parkerhouse, it's amaretto flavored pink ice cream with maraschino cherries in it! Sooooooo Good! They also have homemade soft serve custard. One of my favorites is the Orange Chocolate custard. Homemade waffles cones or waffle bowls are a must here! So, let me tell you about the portion sizes here...a baby is really a medium, and the small is really a large and so on. Craziness! Lol!
