My husband and I have been with Dr. Yatrakis for 24 years. On a Saturday visit to his office in 1997 my husband went to Dr. Yatrakis for a "hardened testicle" Dr. Yatrikis got on the phone with a urologist and he immediately saw him that day. I was home hosting my daughters 2nd birthday and had a 9 month old boy as well. My father had accompanied him to the visit just to get out of the house. As they drove to the appointment at Overlook hospital, they discussed that Dr. Yatrakis told him, "Tom, I think this is testicular cancer and I want you to be seen today and have this taken out immediately" The urologist concurred and the surgery was scheduled for that Monday. It was in fact a malignant growth. Thankfully it was encapsulated and after several rounds of radiation he recovered without any re-occurence. Over the years we moved in and out of the state as we were corporately relocated for my husband's job. Every time we came back to NJ we went back to Dr. Yatrakis as our primary as well as other physicians who are a part of the SMG network. I work in healthcare and understand the value in seeing doctors who are a part of a network. This enables all of your doctors to see what is going on with their patients regardless of whether or not it is their specialty. That helps to manage your healthcare and overall well being. I pray that Dr. Yatrakis is not thinking of retiring because I will miss having a doctor who knows my history, and me as a person. I do not like YELP reviews for medical professions because it is really geared more toward for the food industry. People today want the ease of going to a doctor and getting what they "want" not what they "need" and when there are issues there is no one else to blame. In this climate of "kindness and respect of one another" please look in the mirror and ask yourself if your reviews are constructive or destructive.

But if you want the short version, I do not trust their front office. They are incapable of managing appointments correctly and information. Their computer system always has a tendency to go down. Also, they confirmed my SOCIAL SECURITY info by reading it to me WITHOUT asking me to confirming the last 4 digits. Medical offices need to ask the patient for the last four confirm. NOT read it out on the phone!!! Very unprofessional and very risky for identity theft!!! Anyways, I originally made an appointment to see Dr. Ring. Went through all the steps on the phone to provide background info, insurance, etc in order to get the appointment. Great! A few days later, I received a packet in the mail to fill out. Awesome! This should save me time the day of the appointment. The day after that, I get a call the front desk receptionist saying that my ORIGINAL appointment date is no longer available, however, I could come at a NEW date to see the other doctor. That's fine. The next day, I get a call AGAIN from the same front desk receptionist saying "something" had happened to their computer system and they needed to get all my info again. This was odd. But, ok. I spend another 30 minutes providing the SAME information again. Then she said that my appointment was for the ORIGINAL date. And, I said that she just called me yesterday to change my appointment to the NEW date. Oh, on top of that, she asked if I was on "Medicare." I had gone through all my information, so I'm not sure where she got that fact from. The week of my appointment, I get yet again ANOTHER call from the same front desk receptionist. This time, she needed to confirm my Social Security number, so she read it to me. No medical professional does that over the phone. On top of that, she asked if my appointment was to come in for a circumcision. Seriously, WTF. I don't know how that even got into their system. At this point, I said forget it. Cancel my appointment, you don't need my information (as the computer system seems to go down often and you read out my info freely on the phone instead of asking for confirmation) and if I do see the doctor, I may not even get the service that I needed. DO NOT GO HERE AND DO NOT PROVIDE PERSONAL INFORMATION.

The owner of the practice, Dr. Chafos is an excellent Physician; kindly, patient, professional and extremely knowledgeable. Personally, I have been a patient of Dr. John Chafos' since before Family Care opened, more than 25 years ago. The medical care and compassion from the entire staff, their attention to detail and overall positive outcomes can not be matched by other medical practices in the area. This facility is quiet and calm and suitable for all age groups, especially children, Seniors and people with special needs. The consultation rooms for individual patients are private, comfortable and always clean. And the office is open for walk-ins all day long, beginning very early in the morning into the late evening hours. It is nice to have the flexibility to visit when the time is right for you. A variety of testing techniques are available (Bloodwork, X-ray, urinalysis, on-site testing for flu/Covid/pneumonia, etc.), popular vaccines are available to be administered. ( Even the Shingles vaccine is available and recommended for individuals over 50.) In addition, a professional Phlebotomist from LabCorp is always on staff. Please, bear in mind, patience is a virtue, this is a well-loved medical practice and you may have a wait time to be seen by the Doctor of your choice on the day of your visit. Happily, there are usually 3-4 Doctors in the office at any given moment, and a multitude of Nursing staff as well. These factors will reduce your overall time spent on your visit. In addition, the Family Care website lists the Doctors on staff for that particular day and location, as well as the schedule for the next following days, so you may best plan out your day. This facility is wheelchair accessible and if you need assistance entering the building, a quick call to the front desk will have a Staff member coming directly out to assist you into the building. A large, off-street parking lot is in available. I have been on a weight loss program under Dr. Chafos' and Dr. Klele's care for the past four years, (without weight-loss medication, but the newer specialized medications may be made available to you if you meet certain criteria). Since Spring of 2019, I have lost more than 100 lbs. or 40% of my body weight, reduced my waist by more than 14 inches, reduced my body fat by 14% and reduced my BMI from 44 to 27 and went from severely obese to almost "normal" BMI. (I am now a size 10, after having lost 9 Jean sizes!!!) During the course of this diet loss program, I reversed my pre-diabetes into a perfect 5.0 A1c! I am currently 19 lbs from goal and will likely make that goal weight before the end of this year, 2023. It has been a long, but fruitful journey and my health has only improved during this time. All other aspects of business require people to be accountable, I understand people make mistakes however, this is not the first time that I've been sent a bill because someone didn't sell the proper insurance information.
