Although I did not end up using De Anza Interior, I had to write a 5 star experience with Cindy. My parents used De Anza Interior many years back in their remodel. To this day, no issues with the window covering. De Anza Interior uses the top-of-the-line supplier in Hunter Douglas. The store only does appointments for showings. They have a showroom with all the products they carry. I came by twice as I narrowed down my selection of which business to go with. Ultimately, I went a different direction to save some money and get a faster job done, but if you're looking for Hunter Douglas window coverings, De Anza Interior is the place to go with competitive pricing. Cindy does a great job understanding your needs and then helping provide options, she leaves the decision to you. She was very prompt with her follow ups on delivery and installation. Even when we had some issues she helped us get them addressed promptly. Our friends too had worked with her and had the same feedback. I enlisted De Anza Interior's help on kitchen, bathroom and laundry room cabinets. Cindy Lee is my designer and she's very knowledgeable, professional, patient and kind. I had the best experience working with her, she helped reordering damaged items during shipping, made timely order corrections when I discovered discrepancies with construction. She and Stephen gave me encouragement and guidance when construction wasn't going well. If it weren't for them I probably would have given up. Jose also did a fabulous job on my kitchen cabinets, he just knows how to make ordinary cabinets look high end I'm not even kidding. This experience is solely for the Hunter Douglas Blinds we ordered from this place. This the third time we are changing blinds for our homes and we are very familiar with the process and have used other companies like 3 Day Blinds (used to sell Hunter Douglas) in the past. However, recently Hunter Douglas made some changes and the only option we had was to go with De Anza Interior. Design Process : We pretty much designed and selected blinds in their showroom, Cindy, our main point of contact, does not do house visits and we have to send her pictures and sizes of windows/doors via email. You can already guess what is coming next. Installation : The installation was a pure mess. The installer - Richard - is an extremely rude guy. He is very hasty in his installation and did a very poor job. We ordered more thank $30k worth of blinds and the installation felt like 100$ blinds from home depot. He even drilled holes into our custom made window sills without even checking with us. Did not cleanup after his work and left without letting me know the status. I had to complain and Hunter Douglas had to send a different installer to re-install everthing. Most of the blinds were incorrect size because Cindy does not bother to visit the site herself and relies on emails. We had to change our blinds 3 times. We ordered blinds in June and yet to get our final set of blinds, its been 6 months. Customer Service : After the first round of botched up installation, I called De Anza Interior to complain. I sent them an email listing all the issues - gaps between blinds and sills, drilling of holes in sills, corners not finished off etc. I couldn't get Cindy on the phone and someone named Steven/Stephen took the call. Instead of trying to understand the issue, this guy started to push the blame back on me. He said my windows are crooked and I ordered the wrong stuff. Note that ours is a brand new build and nothing in the house is crooked. Such was his audacity. Stay away from this place if and Hunter Douglas is reading this then please allow others to sell your products. read more

It was a very pleasant experience with the friendly staff here. The brown exterior building looks a bit hidden and their address is actually 1073 Saratoga Ave, San Jose. They're one of the distributor of FLOR carpet tiles. You'll see a tall display cabinet with loads of samples stacked up neatly in the entry way. They're also 6 real size FLOR carpets laid out on the floor so you can see how it looks like. Staff are usually on the second floor, so when you walk in, just holla and browse freely around. They have lots and lots of beautiful tiles and knobs and doors and hardwood floor and blinds! Cindy, the interior designer, was very helpful and suggested fabulous color/pattern combination for me on the FLOR tiles. They also offer a 10% discount on the FLOR. Also, they will loan you as many FLOR samples as you like for a week without any credit card deposit. There are no pushy sales around. Feel comfortable roaming around, listening to how the staff advise other customers, and admire the gorgeous tile patterns and materials on the sample racks. Speaking of customer service, Cindy is a darling! She appeared to be shy at first but once she understood your needs, she gave really good advice on how to put things together. What can I say about De Anza Interior? Two words: Total satisfaction!!! De Anza Interior is a father/mother/daughter team: Stephen is responsible for the whole project and engineering, he supervises the remodeling. Teresa is in charge of the interior layout/design and Jennifer interior decoration. They also have Cindy, Jose and his crew. Our remodeling project involved about 80% of our house and the flooring. Every project has its "good, bad and ugly". I will cover the "bad and ugly" first. The biggest mistakes we made were not moving the furniture to the storage and not staying at our friend's place when he offered to let us live with him during the remodeling. This not only prolonged the remodeling time but also caused minor damages to a few furniture pieces. No matter how carefully the crew tried to be, there was just too much moving around. There were some other glitches, nevertheless, Stephen would take care of them to our satisfaction. Now, to the "good" part: In the long planning phase (10+ months) of our remodeling, we had talked to friends and designers to gather ideas. Recommended by a friend, we then talked to Stephen about our plan. The next day Stephen presented their initial proposal which turned out to be better than our own plan. Initially we were going to hire them to do only the design, but at the end decided to let them do the entire project because not only their quote came in lower than the other 2 contractors, but also a trust had been developed between us. After going through building 2 new houses, remodeling 4 properties and dealing with numerous contractors in the past, one of our criteria in selecting a contractor was his candidness. Stephen proved to be candid and straightforward, later he also proved to be a man of his words by fulfilling all of his promises, and plus more. Stephen's suggestion to replace the top panes of the front doors with designer glass panes not only brightened the once dark foyer but also saved us 4+ thousand bucks. We were debating whether to remove the wall between the dining room and the kitchen to make the area more "open", Stephen suggested widening the entrances to the dining room and using the wall space for two pantry cabinets. This turned out to be a much better idea, now the dinning room looks spacious and the kitchen has plenty of storage. Teresa was a very talented interior designer. Our old 4 bd/2 ba, 2000 sqft, 60's house is now a 4 bd/3 ba home with 2 suites, a hallway that no longer looks like a tunnel, and a new kitchen everyone loves. The new bedroom suite was a re-partition of the living room and the adjacent bedroom. Part of the living room space was used for the new bathroom in the bedroom. The new living room is still adequate in size (13x13) which can later be converted into a study. Teresa's design of our new kitchen gives us plenty of counter space with room for the guests to "hang out". Jennifer helped us with the selection of kitchen decoration (backsplash, countertops, light fixture, cabinet colors, etc.) and the wall colors. Her mosaic design for our kitchen was simple but eye catching! Jennifer's many other suggestions also helped make our house look contemporary and warm. Cindy was the "material girl" who was very knowledgeable about the products (flooring, draping, cabinets, accessories, etc.) they carried, she patiently helped us with product selection. Cindy would sometimes join in the discussion and provided her invaluable opinion. Jose has been with the company since they opened for business in late 90's (another criteria for us when selecting a contractor was the experience and loyalty of the crew). Jose was very knowledgeable as well as helpful. I learned some construction tricks and technique from him and his crew. Jose's advice also helped save us hundreds of dollars. We also ordered cabinets, flooring, counter top, windows and a sliding door from Stephen. Their prices were competitive, Stephen promised to take full responsibility of our orders if something went wrong (e.g., wrong size, wrong material, etc.) At the end we think it was a right decision because if, for example, we ordered the wrong cabinet ourselves, we'd have to reorder them at our expense, and those cabinets ain't cheap! An error was made on one of the windows, Stephen replaced it without charging us a dime. Also the flooring and the countertop slabs that we selected were brand new products, of which the coutertop samples were not yet widely available. Cindy convinced the saleslady to lend us the only sample set she had for us to bring home for evaluation. The other tile store that we talked to was not able to do the same. All in all, both my wife and I feel that "De Anza Interior" has done an excellent job for us. They are talented, patient, accommodating and fun to work with. They compliment each other well. We'd recommend them to anyone who is looking for a trusted and experienced contractor. read more

Had a wonderful experience buying Hunter Douglas blinds from De Anza Interior. Our salesperson, Cindy, helped get us every discount available, and they ended up being about $2,000 less than the second closest quote we received. When we came to sign the contract, Cindy had already printed it and had it waiting for us: she was very efficient. Our install was terrific: Jose showed up early, was fast and accurate, and made sure we were absolutely happy with his work before he left. He also offered to haul our old blinds. The team at De Anza Interior responded quickly to my needs. Had just purchased a new home and urgently needed window coverings. I was dead-set on going the fast route to get my windows covered, but the kind team at De Anza quickly advised me against shortcuts. I trusted in them for helping color selection to match my interior, shutter design and layout, and shutter type. While the shutters were being made to custom specs, they helped me figure out how to manage my window coverings in the meantime. While it took some time to make Hunter Douglas shutters, the end result was amazing!! The installation team was super polite and courteous throughout the whole process of install the shutters. They respected my privacy while they were on the job site and cleaned up absolutely everything before they left. They also got a chance to bid on a contract for some work on the house, but when the scope of the work was outside their expertise, they played advisory role free-of-charge to help me close the contract and look for small issues. It's unfortunate to see some bad reviews, but with every business (especially on Yelp!), you do need to take everything you read with a grain of salt and make your own call at the end of the day. In my case, I think you cannot go wrong with this team. They will not do any work that they are not professionally experienced and fully capable of doing. If you contract them, you will get the best quality in work and advice. They're a family run business that has been in the industry to do fine work, not cheat you. From my experience, they wouldn't carry some of the high quality product they do unless they did care about their work. read more

I wanted to share with you some 'behind the scene' pictures taken after removing the warming drawer but don't know how. The back of the drawer was supported badly with two left over plywood that were not even nailed together. We had to change out the warming drawer because it stopped working in less than 2 years. We now know why, the wire was loosen in the back of the drawer not tucked away, every time we open or close the drawer, it would hit the wire that ultimately caused short circuit every time it was turned on. read more

I was told about De Anza Interiors by my contractor for my home remodel--what a great find! Their prices are excellent, and Cindy at DAI provided the absolute best customer service of all the companies/ vendors I worked with on the remodel. Cindy is efficient and responsible and was able to quickly understand what I wanted and narrow the options to those that matched my needs/wants. I used DAI for numerous components of both the bathroom and kitchen remodels--sinks, faucets, hardware, showerhead and valves, towel, TP, and grab bar. If Cindy can't get it, she will suggest alternative sources. I got to where I didn't check their prices because I knew they would be the best. They were not the closest vendor but well worth the little extra drive. I cannot recommend DAI any more highly. read more

We have used De Anza Interior for few projects, some of them was big some of them was small but every one of them I got 100% satisfaction. I just finished the air-conditioning project in my house. The owner Steven Ho came to my house explained the whole project from the old duck at my house to the new technology of the duck, the brand name of the Air Conditioning. He explained to me which way is the most economy way to install a new air-conditioning to the existing furnace and we discuss many options. Finally based on my budget and we picked the best options which met all my requirements. As usual, he finished the project on time and on budget. Steven's workers were very responsible to cleaning the house and the working areas. They vacuumed many times until all areas were dusting free. I would recommend them to all my friends who is thinking to remodel his or her house in the future. read more

Happy with our major (90%) home remodel - thanks to Teresa, Stephen, Cindy, Jennifer, Jose, Carlos and the many subcontractors of De Anza Interiors! Teresa and Stephen worked with us remote, MA-CA while we finalized floor plans. Today we have an open floor plan, extra 140 square feet, an extra bath (in the most cost effective location possible), beautiful dark red mahogany floors, elegant but functional kitchen facing the backyard, sparkling tiled bathrooms, new roof, blinds, tank-less water heater, whole air AC and more. Teresa and Cindy helped us with colors/materials/designs/tiles/accents and more. Stephen even found the perfect slate tiles and stone work for our front porch. We also appreciate their accommodating post framing a 4 inch width increase of a hallway passage. Their in-house selection of tiles, wood flooring, plumbing, catalogs for lighting, and more are vast. The only time we went outside was for our front door and some custom (size related) closet doors. I general contracted on our previous remodel effort in MA - It is no joke coordinating demolishers, excavators, framers,plasterers, painters, tilers, cabinet installers, electricians, roofers and more. De Anza Interiors took care of all the details, including applying for permits and inspections, scheduling and delivery of materials and reorders. Sometimes when things felt slow, all it took was a gently phone call/email, and they pulled in favors and/or pressured subcontractors to hurry things along. The things that spell professionalism - hurrying over early one morning with tarps to protect the delivered hardwood flooring because of a surprise sprinkle, leaving the place clean at the end of each work day, meticulously collecting nails pulled out, taping down cardboard over finished floors to protect them from other construction activity and more. Echoing Gill's comments (back in January) I'd like to share that I had a similar experience. We ordered the Hunter Douglas pulley honey comb blinds throughout our loft. We have a 20 ft front window which required us to order the blinds in two parts. However the width of the blinds was at fault. There is a good 2 inch difference between the blind and the wall space. At my insistence my husband had Stephen come back out and look at the blinds. He insisted that he and his company were not at fault, and that the building of our loft was at fault. He offered no discount, no apology. But my problem is that someone came out and custom measured for the blinds, and surely if there is truth in the statement that the building structure is at fault then I felt we should have been notified at the time of measurement. Additionally, when installed it wasn't noted that the fit was not adequate. I felt that the staff overall was rude, inconsiderate and I've refused to do business with this company further. read more

I recently had various blinds and shutter window treatments put on over 40 windows by DeAnza Interior. I had a great experience and they carry a large selection of the Hunter Douglas blinds I wanted to see. Cindy was extremely helpful, and I super appreciated all her emails and quick responses to my questions. I also appreciated the perfect measuring, installation, and responsiveness by De Anza Interior. Our home has such a nice finished look to it now with all our awesome window treatments. I cannot recommend De Anza Interior -- not, at least, for folks who are interested in buying curtains or blinds for their homes. I recently purchased a Hunter-Douglas Designer Roller Blind from this dealer and am dissatisfied with both product and service. Cindy Lee, the salesperson who ordered my blind, submitted an incorrect width for the product. As a result, the blind that was fabricated is too narrow for my window. Stephen Ho, co-owner of De Anza Interior, refused to correct the error or even admit that his employee had made a mistake. A comical and frustrating half-hour interview with Mr. Ho got me nowhere, though I was impressed and entertained by the man's imagination and pugnacity. When I asked him, point blank, to admit that his clerk had erred, he answered, "No way, never never happen." It's not everyone who can stand so firm when he knows he has no leg to stand on. Mr. Ho's brash denials brought to mind a certain Monty Python sketch in which a customer is conned into buying a dead parrot from a shopkeeper who then insists that the parrot (nailed to its perch) is not dead, but merely resting. According to Mr. Ho, the blind he ordered for me is not too narrow -- it is ALMOST wide enough. The little bit of molding left uncovered, he assures me, will hardly be noticeable. When I pointed out to Mr. Ho that, while he walks away with $500 of my good money, I am stuck with a blind that is too narrow, he replied that he didn't care if I'd dropped $50,000 at his shop. So it's a matter of principle with Mr. Ho. $500 or $50,000 -- he doesn't care. If he or his staff make a mistake, the customer pays for it -- regardless. That's his principled position. He keeps your money; you get his dead parrot. Actually, though, I think that Mr. Ho does care. I suspect that he would very much prefer that I had spent $50,000 at his shop. But I won't be going back to De Anza Interior, and he'll have to get that money from another customer. read more

Last weekend we had experienced the WORST customer service at De Anza Interior. Although we had our kitchen measurements, they didn't want to take the time to help us. We mentioned budget (indicating no $ value) and she was off helping other people in the store. We tried to get help but she blew off our further questions and inquiries. She must of gotten tired of listening to our questions because she proceeded to tell us initial planning takes time and to fill out a contact form and email it back. I want to comment there were 2 hours left before closing! She also said when we do return, she might have to help other customers that have an appointment. I couldn't believe it. First she tells us to leave and fill out the contact form, and when we come back for consultation she would help other people! When I asked if we can sign up for an appointment , she gave me a look that just said get out. Terrible customer service and a terrible experience! Budget conscious customers beware! read more
