I'm writing this on behalf of my mother, who recently had a very disturbing experience at this DD's Discounts location. She visited the store about a month ago in the morning with my sister and cousin. From the moment they walked in, she felt constantly watched and followed not by staff offering help, but by the store's security guard. According to my mother, this guard followed her throughout the store, aisle by aisle, never taking his eyes off her. He even followed her up to the register and stood there watching as she checked out. There were other customers in the store, but according to her, they were the only Black people there and the only ones being surveilled like this. This kind of treatment is unacceptable. My mother is a hard-working nurse who has spent years in her profession and more importantly, she is a paying customer who deserves the same respect as anyone else in that store. To assume she came to steal based on how she looks is disgusting, dehumanizing, and wrong. Shame on your staff and management for allowing this kind of behavior to happen in your store. Racial profiling should never be part of anyone's shopping experience. Do better. read more

I came in to look around, minding my business and a this heavy set Hispanic security guard walked up to me an made a sexual comment towards me which made me feel uncomfortable. I'm just trying to shop in peace and even knowing he's an employee made me feel very uneasy where I set down my stuff and walked out. Between 9:00-9:17pm on Feb 11th just as the Store was closing this happened. Tried to tell the other security but the dude already was gone. Ladies watch out! This is one of the worst stores in Southern California! I don't know who the Head of Operations is for DD's but that ....Calling the next customer up before the prior customers transaction is completed..... It not a good! Why would the Corporation encourage this? With the crime and health issues we have going on in society, this is wrong on so many levels! Why would I want some one rushing me to grab my purse and bags to make room for the next person, before I can punch in my debit card information? Why would I want some total stranger standing over me as I secure my wallet and belongings, making me feel uncomfortable?? Why would I want someone coughing and sneezing aside me as I gather my belonging & merchandise???? This is not giving a good Shopping Experience nor Customer Service! Then you have the nerves to higher people with no customer service skills or MANNERS calling themselves MANAGERS? All this is just ridiculous and unbelievable! I will be reaching out to Corporate! I went there the day before and let me just say, it was horrible. There was this one cashier(Willow) who was very rude to me. I asked her a question and she gave me a huge attitude. As someone who has social anxiety buts wants to have answers to my question, this left me feeling worse. Thanks to her, I do not think I will shop there again. This is my second time in the store and I love their prices more than I love Rosses. I'm a bargain shopper so I was definitely really happy when I found DD's. I walked in today and was immediately greeted. The loss prevention lady was super nice and help me strap my infant into the shopping cart. That already gets the store some brownie points :) I saw a dress hanging the moment that I walked in for 8.99$ which is an amazing price. I placed in my shopping cart and kept on shopping. I came in today specifically for shoes for my kiddos. I got my girl 3 pairs at 3.99$, 7.99$ and 8.99$. I got my boys 2 pairs for 7.99$ and 5.49$. I also got my flats for only 7.99$. Now where can you find prices like that anywhere. The checkout cashier was also really pleasant and made small talk with my boy. He was also fast and packed my stuff nicely. The store is a little messy but that is understandable as A LOT of customers walk through those doors. Also, how can they hire more staff to clean up when prices are that cheap. Lol The shopping area where the store is located has gotten a face left and seem really clean. Some parts of it are still under renovations. Yeah.... Just go to the location in Hawthorne. No one should be made to feel like a thief as soon as they walk in. And the selection isn't even that great. This location is not like other DD's locations. You need to treat your customers with respect. And get a better selection of products. A customer asked a DD's employee to use the restroom. The DD's employee said the restrooms are for employees only. The Loss Prevention Officer said this new rule was implemented due to the restroom always being vandalized The store manager did not allow the customer use the restroom. I told the store manager, the decision to deprive a customer from using the stores restroom because of vandalism is a potential law suit. It becomes a health risk for the customer. I advised the other customer to get their corporate office number to file a complaint. Nothing is posted anywhere inside the store indicating there are no public restrooms for customer's. All staff working are all young adults with little to no customer service experience. read more

Dds practice of calling new customers before completing the current transaction with another customer is just rude! My suggestion is - If you want to improve something improve customer service. I go to DDs to shop every now and then. Don't get me wrong...I love their prices and I love their items but some of the people who work there are just rude. One lady who worked there helped me not the fullest....loved that about her. Excellent service. But as soon as I went to the register, the cashier was rude, whiny and seemed occupied. I get it...it's the holidays and there is alot of customers in the line but doesn't mean you fastly slide or toss the items in the bag. I bought a box set perform in perfect condition because I don't like picking up things that's damaged. I mean it is a gift for my friend. When I checked the bag....it was damaged. She was rushing. I haven't even paid yet and she already calling the next customer like she had dibs on him or something. Not professional at all. When I called to speak to a manager about one of their employees saying that she just needs to be careful how she bags items especially around this time of the year...they put me on hold for 30 minutes. It kills me and is so disappointing that there is no sense of urgency at this location. It's almost like, "I have to work for eight hours so as long as o do something in those eight hours all is well." There were eight people in line and two checkers, then one just leaves going n break, Walks past and makes complete our contact with all of us standing in line and just leaves. Horrible customer service!! Manager Adelma is rude!! Kept customers waiting because according to her she was on an important call! Where's your back up manager or floor manager for emergencies?! Never apologizing that only one cashier was helping plus taking exchanges. And the 2nd cashier's drawer wasn't prepared for large bills when she finally came to assist. This location is horrific! Filthy! Clothesand hangers all over the floor, you can't even move your shopping cart around because there is a mess everywhere you turn! I thought Ross was bad, not close to this BAD! Here's the funny part, I was testing out a few of the perfumes and the security guard there walks up and tell me I can't open any of the perfumes. lol your joking! All the boxes of perfumes are damaged, OPENED! And half way! I seriously just laughed in his face and walked away. That security guard must be so proud of his job! So then, I couldn't try on a bra in the dressing room, I was told it was "prohibited". Why is that? At other locations, I've never came across this situation. But I think I know why. I went to this DD's Discount location "which was my first one ever!" The prices slapped me in my face and I was like whoa! I wasn't going to buy anything at first, but those prices got me in the mood real quick. The inside front end looked run down because the jewelry was picked over but other than that the selection for Men's cloths was good. I now shop at DD's every week buying at least one outfit a week! I'll be heading to either the Inglwood or the Carson DD's in 30mins. to get some more jeans and socks... Thanks to DD's I went from hating to buy cloths to can't wait to buy cloths... read more
