There are more eating and drinking places outside the entrance where Cheesecake Factory is located. The Mojito Bar had Latin Music blaring. There were a handful of patrons at the bar. I came here to get new reading glasses and shop for any clothes that might catch my eye. It's great one-stop shopping. I was able to get new Lenses in my glasses as well as buy another pair in a couple hours. At Marshall's, they had just put new swimsuits in the juniors for $19-$24, which retail up to $100 at regular retail stores on the beach. I tried on some Sambas at Adidas, then my glasses were ready and I grabbed lunch at Cheesecake Factory before leaving. The one con for me was how many individual store employees spoke zero English. In Polo and Levi's and even Saks, I encountered difficulty being understood. I guess this is a sad reality in Miami now.

The first Five Below opened up in 2002 in Pennsylvania and there are now 1,850 stores throughout the United States. Five Below has been rapidly expanding. The concept of the store is everything costs $5 or less. At least it used to be. Something I noticed through the years is that they are offering more and more items over $5, especially tech, more elaborate holiday decorations, and room decor. They now have a room in the back of the store where some of the items are as high as $25. Their inventory is mainly marketed to kids and teens. Expect to see a lot of nods to pop culture. If you have a young person in your life then you are probably well acquainted with this discount chain. Departments include seasonal decorations, tech, work out, play, beauty, and snacks. You can't beat their $5 t-shirts and I always find myself drawn to the snack aisle. When my daughter was younger I would shop for inexpensive birthday party presents, stocking stuffers, and cheap room decor. Now I find myself stopping by to pick up cute motivators for the kids I work with. The store is currently all decked out for Halloween. It is worth popping in from time to time to see what is new.

They also have pampering options such as nail and beauty salons, massage parlor & chair massages. There's a Starbucks and other decent food options such as 100 Montaditos. I love the bubble tea place they have and ALWAYS get one when I'm at the mall. They have fun little rides for kids and kids events. There's plenty of free parking all around the mall. Unlike other malls, here you don't get harassed by these stands in the middle any more.

However, I think this shop epitomizes what isn't working. Yes, the clothes are high end and expensive but I saw few if any pieces that made my heart jump, skip, or hop. There was no Marni mouth dropping moment. There is no love at first sight shoe from Louboutin. There isn't even that odd mix of inspiration and infatuation from Tomas Maier. I found the men's collection to be a bit better with an Etro shirt in a colorful of the moment plaid but overall the store lacked strong pieces or even amazingly feminine staples. Even more telling is the odd, mismatched feel of the store. The aesthetic is worn and dated. Feng Shui anyone? anyone? Speaking of odd the door was locked when I pulled on the handle, in the middle of the day. Suddenly, I felt oh so safe ;-) Again, I want to see more stores, a well curated cocktail of boutiques ranging from hip vintage boutiques brimming with treasures to high end international names, and local up and comers.
