CAUTION: EXERCISE CAUTION! I am deeply dissatisfied with my reliance on Dariel. I contacted him regarding water issues beneath the LVP floor in my kitchen. I explicitly asked him to inspect the AC closet for leaks, ensuring water wasn't seeping under the LVP into the kitchen. He claimed to have checked and found it dry, attributing the problem to cast iron drainage in the kitchen. However, I clarified that the kitchen drainage had been replaced with PVC, retaining cast iron only in the front of the unit and the bathroom.
Dariel criticized the prior kitchen work, alleging that the cast iron was cracked and causing leaks. He presented two options: 1) using a snake to clear the drainage for all three units in the building, or 2) tearing down the wall and floor to replace the cast iron pipes. Opting for the first choice, I accepted the $450 charge without negotiation, trusting his professional judgment.
A day later, the tenant reported persistent issues, prompting me to seek a second opinion. Another professional immediately identified a wet AC closet and a clogged AC drain pipe. They addressed the problem, resolving the leakage entirely.
My disappointment stems from Dariel's inaccurate diagnosis despite my specific request to check the AC. Not only did he charge me for an unnecessary service, but he also advocated for a major teardown if issues persisted. When I sought a partial refund due to his misleading actions, he became defensive, insisting on an in-person meeting for any reimbursement. Given my non-residence in Miami and his confrontational attitude, I found this suggestion peculiar, especially considering the online payment via Zelle.
While I incurred a $450 loss dealing with this dishonest individual/business, Dariel has foregone potential future business opportunities with my properties. I cannot recommend his services due to the demonstrated dishonesty and lack of professionalism. read more
