I had a very disappointing experience with DCH Academy Honda in Old Bridge. I was in active email communication with a salesperson regarding a 2017 Toyota Prius Prime and scheduled a visit to see the vehicle. Prior to today, communication was frequent and responsive. When the online scheduler asked for my phone number today, I explained that I preferred to continue communication via email, which had been working fine. Unfortunately, no one contacted me to let me know the vehicle had been sold, despite knowing I was planning to come in. I drove to the dealership only to be told upon arrival that the car was no longer available. This was a waste of my time and could have easily been avoided with a simple email. Transparency and basic courtesy go a long way when customers are making the effort to visit in person. Myself and husbands car BOTH has many issues for brand new 2026 cars! My car had a huge scratch on the side, it was on and off ran that day, when giving me the car to see if I liked the color it was mid raining. After I got the car and was home it stopped and I saw a huge scratch on the side. THEY KNEW that was there. My husband's car had many scratches too, that they buffed out. They tried buffing mine out and my sales guy Alex says here gone. Meanwhile I look and still see this huge scratch. The car play on this CAR IS BUSTED, alll fucking HRV AND CRV DO NOT BUY BECAUSE THEY WILL SELL YOU A CAR WITH A BUSTED CAR PLAY!!! I take it to them to fix the CarPlay and they straight up made it worse!! Wont connect wireless at all, and wired it randomly cuts off and disconnects which is highly dangerous as I use my GPS a lot to drive. Then they have to take it to get the scratch out and I gave it to them with a full tank of fucking gas, only 290 miles on the car, I get my fucking car back with below half a tank of gas, and my miles AT 440! I never go into my back seat as I usually don't have a reason but that weekend I was putting my beach bag back there and I see MUD ALL OVER MY MAT AND ON THE SEAT. WHY WAS ANYONE IN MY BACKSEAT!!! Athough I brought my car here I will no longer bringing it back for serivce nor will I buy my next car here. The time before last I gave them service coupons which they did not deduct and I had failed to remind them. This week I was aware of the past practice of not deducting coupons so I checked the bill before paying and once again the coupons were not deducted. After a bs excuse they bill was adjusted. What is worse is that they performed several expensive services that were unnecssary costing me hundreds of dollars extra. The management did not respond to my complaints. Bought a 2020 Suburban Premier here in December of 2024. Got it home and took it to the local Chevy dealer. What they found was truly astounding. Shot transmission ( hence the grinding noise on the way home), blown front shocks ( out of nitrogen) and a bad power train. Absolute most unprofessional and disgusting staff. I was sold a lemon 2014 Audi s4 with problems on day 1 that were not disclosed. After bringing my car home, next day I got a error for low coolant, this fault persisted even after adding coolant. The vehicle came with a faulty PCV valve that cost $4,000 at the Audi dealership to repair. After multiple attempts of trying to get the dealer to take responsibility for it, considering the problem was there when the car was sold to me, I was told that it was my problem because I bought an old German car. The Salesman Robert told me "for all I know you could've took the car on the highway and did 100mph" and shifted blame on to me. After weeks, of going back and forth, basically being called an idiot teenager for buying an old German car and that I had to deal with it now, they decided to have me drive the car all the way from my home to their dealer so they can "check it out", which is about an hour away by the way, while the vehicle has a problem that can become catastrophic if not fixed quickly. They took it to Audi and told me I need to pay 4 grand and they will pay the rest. So I decided to speak with the Audi dealer myself, and they actually told me the entire repair was 4 grand, so they tried to make me pay the full amount and act like they were helping? After pointing this out to them they decided to only make me pay 2 grand, which is still insane since this problem happened THE NEXT DAY after taking it home. I also want to note that wasn't the only problem with the car, the motor mounts were bad, control arms bad, rear main seal was leaking oil and that trip they forced me to take all the way from new York to new jersey caused more coolant to leak into the oil of the car ( which was the first problem that I spoke about above) causing lubrication of the engine to deteriorate and ended up causing my timing chains to need to be replaced ( this was a 5k repair out my pocket). Could this have been avoided if they just took care of the car in the first place? Probably. SO don't believe their bullshit "180 point inspection" or whatever lies they spew, they're lying. If you decide to end up buying a car from here anyways, which you absolutely shouldn't... make sure you bring a mechanic with you to at least check the car out. Just save your trouble with these people and their nasty tactics... Absolutely no sympathy and money hungry. read more

This place looks impressive from the outside even though it sits very close on Route 9 and is easy to miss. We went in recently looking at a pre-owned truck we were interested in purchasing. While our saleswoman Amber was very nice, it was clear she was young and inexperienced but we were ok with that. Everyone starts somewhere. We decided to purchase the truck and went through the usual paperwork. However, when we were on the phone with our insurance company, the janitorial service started vacuuming the area rugs which made it impossible to hear our agent and we had to walk outside to finish our call. I would suggest the cleaning people do their work off business hours because it's really hard to talk to your bank and insurance company on the phone when someone is vacuuming, especially considering the showroom has a noisy echo effect. It would have been nice if an employee told us there were complimentary beverages and snacks at an out of the way location considering we were there quite a while negotiating this cash purchase. Also, employees were allowed to charge their cell phones in the showroom which was clearly meant for customers. Because the dealer wouldn't accept our personal check, we had to come back the next day with a certified check which is understandable, considering we were paying cash and not financing the truck. Upon our return the next day, we noticed two chips in the windshield that we didn't see the day before and asked them to fix it. Here's where the fiasco really begins. They told us to bring the truck back on Tuesday at 10 am to have the windshield fixed. Mind you this is a two hour round trip. We get there and the employee tells us the glass guy comes on Thursdays. So off we went back home with a gratuitous half tank of gas on them. Ok people make mistakes. In the meantime, we are waiting on a time to bring the truck back on Thursday. Finally received a text message 9 pm on Wednesday night to bring the truck back in at 10 am on Thursday. I found it strange that they only text and don't call you directly but the place employs very young people so I guess it's just the generation. We get there Thursday morning at 9:30 and Alex, the one handling the appointment, tells us to pull up next to a van in the parking lot. So we did and waited our turn and suddenly the van pulls away and leaves. When we questioned Alex, he thought we were there for a key even though we communicated the night before, and he told us we should have been there earlier!!! He told us to be there at 10 to get the windshield fixed even though this van was for keys. What a cluster f$&k! It got nasty so we left and still don't have the windshield fixed. We actually got a call directly from the glass repair guy who agreed to meet us at the Freehold Honda Dealer which still hasn't happened. Do yourself a favor, and pick another car dealer to do your business. This one is poorly managed. read more

I hate this dealership. I have never had a positive experience here. Ever. I tried buying a new car, and no one would help me. Went to Edison and walked out with a car that day. I had a recall on my car. Came here because it's close to home. I knew it was a bad idea, but what can you do. Dropped it off at 9:30 am and said I need it back by 3. Guess what, they're just doing it now and only because I called to see what's going on. No one responds to texts. And when I got there, the guy acted like I was the problem. Buddy...you had my car all day. This is a 30 min fix. The problem here is if you stay with your car, you'll be there for 3 hours minimum. If you say you're leaving it, they won't touch it until that evening. Why bother with appointments? Why not first come first serve? I bought a car from here in 2012 and the service department hasn't improved since then. They renovated it, but it's like that saying about lipstick on a pig. He cut me off and said it will be a long process if I didn't know which car I want. When I was just starting my statement to say I'm trying to get a Ridgeline or accord. My husband and I purchased a 2018 Mazda cx-5 on driveway.com through this dealership. When we received the vehicle, the engine was smoking and leaking oil. We immediately took it to a professional mechanic where they then diagnosed that the vehicle has a blown head gasket and would need a whole new engine. DCH Academy Honda is trying to say that the reason the engine is smoking is due to "residual oil" left from a head gasket cover fix they did back at the end of April. The mechanic told us that it's obvious DCH academy Honda tried to put a "bandaid" over a much bigger issue. DCH Academy Honda is refusing to give us back our shipping fee after receiving a vehicle that isn't even safe to drive. We left their team a message and they are ignoring us. BEWARE OF THIS DEALERSHIP. My husband and I have pictures and videos with time stamps from the very day that we received the car proving that we received it this way. We will be contacting Better Business Bureau to file a complaint about this business and if DCH Academy Honda continues to ignore us we will be taking legal action as selling a vehicle in this condition is against EVERY consumer law. Left my car there for a multipoint inspection and to inspect some "rattling" noises. Came back saying I need an entire new exhaust system, radiator, and changing out brakes for like an absurd amount. Ended up going with the "cheaper" option, which was just doing brakes. Charged my $2300 for breaks and calipers which is like double typical price. Then when I brought up a recent recall, they "accidentally missed it", which could have explained the other insane repairs they recommended. As far as the service department.... I had some repairs done off of a recall. I asked if I can get the radio code put in to unlock the radio as well as the actual radio code so I can use it if need be in the future. I was told they could not unlock the radio because they needed to retrieve the serial number and it would be $200 to pull out the radio and get the serial number off the back of the radio. This didn't sound kosher because in the past I've gotten radio codes over the phone from Honda. I searched online and found that there is a code (radio serial number) on a sticker in the glovebox. With this code and vin number I was able to get the radio code for free in less than 2 minutes. Service department also sucked because they never did a multipoint inspection. I had to stop at the wawa to properly air all tires. And put in windshield washer fluid. Sucky service. Bringing my Hondas to another dealer from now on. read more

My son was looking at a Honda Insight at this dealership. I guess class and good customer service doesn't exist here. My son had a 2pm appointment. I guess they saw my kid and looks like he is not going to buy a car. So they made him wait for 30-40 minutes. The walk-in takes priority and doesn't honor their word with the appointment. My son unfortunately had to deal with this salesman Daviti. He is very rude and unprofessional. By the way my son was treated. After the test drive, he was talking to my wife to discuss the breakdown of the cost of the car. My wife questioned some of the extra cost and from that conversation. He hung up on my wife and walked out on my kid without a single word. I tried calling the dealership service manager and tried to express my concern about the incident. He said he will speak with Daviti about his behavior. The conversation I had with him seems like nothing is going to be done and he was even trying to justify his worker's attitude. We deal with dealerships from Land Rover to Tesla and we never had this experience. I don't know what's going on with this dealership but I hope the owner of this dealership is aware of the people they are hiring and the level of customer service they are providing. This is the worst dealership that we ever dealt with. The company needs to have training about providing red carpet treatment to every customers that walked in to their place of business. I very highly encourage anyone looking for a vehicle to stay far away from this place. I purchased a 2018 BMW X4 from them over a month ago, they claimed the vehicle was in good working condition and that nothing was wrong wellllllll I shouldn't have been so naive. I got the vehicle and lo and behold the display for the vehicle which the idrive system works with that controls Navigation, Bluetooth, USB Devices, backup camera; safety features and a lot more is completely shot. BMW paperwork the dealership shows the system had been shorting out for quite some time before I ever received the vehicle. When I brought this up to Peter Modzelewski, the used car manager he at first tried to of course say it worked fine when it was there, the typical bs answer. Then said it's not anything they would've seen on inspection when clearly on their point inspection paperwork it says that it's one of the main things checked. Peter tried to help by taking the cheap way out by looking for used parts at a non-bmw dealership for the low to replace this and he couldn't find anythingThen he told me he would cut a check for $1000(the job at BMW to replace this is almost $5000) or I can to take it 4 hours away to be replaced in which I asked for reimbursement on gas and a ride back home if I was gonna do that and he said he was checking with a higher up. Guess what? He never got back to me and now he ignores all of my emails I send. I even emailed the general manager Joseph Lepore multiple times and he never reached out to even acknowledge. Buying used cars is a major hassle on the best of days. The inevitable haggle, with all sorts of hidden fees and charges makes it a trap for the unwary, or certainly for folks who lack patience. That said, this Honda dealership is first rate, and one of the few with hundreds of certified pre-owned, late model Honda's in stock -- selling for less than average Carfax, Edmunds and Kelly blue book pricing for the car. The internet shop makes it easy to check inventory. Kelly and Carfax history for every car is available online and you can create a wish list of cars using online filters. Most of the inventory consists of lease returns and many of the cars were originally bought and serviced here -- so service records are available too. We worked with Carlos Andino -- an extremely polite and knowledgeable sales associate -- with deep experience in new and used cars. Did my homework online first (recommended). All the models I picked had one owner and were Honda certified, late models, low mileage and no accident histories. Tough to go wrong with those choices. Carlos is straight up and honest, he delivered exactly what he promised and negotiated with us -- after spending many hours showing us all sorts of inventory and test driving several different models. Despite a snag with the finance guy while doing our final paperwork, the manager intervened and gave us the deal promised us by Carlos. In other words, management stands behind the sales staff. Says a lot for their integrity. No bait and switch here. If you are looking to buy a clean used Honda at market pricing or lower, see Carlos at this dealership. He will hook you up. DO NOT GO HERE. BUYER BEWARE. They are completely unprofessional, predatory, and have no transparency. If you ask them direct questions they will lie to you if it benefits their bottom line, and gets you out the door. They will double/triple down on the lies, and be defensive if you bring discrepancies to their attention after you leave. Instead of attempting to defuse the situation, and find a solution. At least in the case of my sales person. If you do a lease trade in they will sell your trade in vehicle to make money before sending a lease buy out check, or contacting your former leasing company in any way. This leaves you still financially and legally responsible for a vehicle no longer in your possession. They certainly won't inform you that they intend to sell your lease trade in vehicle before actually facilitating the transfer of the trade in. Once you're out the door, and realize what's happening they'll tell you on the phone that the lease buy-out check just takes some time to be sent, and redirect you to a finance department voicemail to get more information. They won't call you back if you leave a detailed message. This was their response and course of action without me revealing I knew they were actively selling my trade in. I was curious if they would be up front, and transparent. They were not. Ask IN WRITING how they intend to facilitate your trade in before you're out the door. Otherwise, you're stuck being legally responsible for 2 cars until they find a buyer. Luckily for me they sold my former vehicle in just less than 2 weeks (something I'm sure isn't always the case). A day after the listing for my trade in disappeared from the web my former leasing company said they had received the buy out payment, and odometer statement. All information obtained through my own due diligence. No transparency. Moving on - During a sale they won't even discuss the option to transfer your plates from your old passenger vehicle to your new one. Something I have always done. If you do happen to question about transferring your plates they will lie to you in order to avoid the extra paperwork, and potential loss in revenue they can sometimes gain by doing new plates. I was told transferring plates wasn't even possible because the new car was in a different weight class than my previous vehicle. NOT TRUE. They're both passenger vehicles. Don't fall for it. I was told all paperwork would be emailed, and physical copies would be sent to me. They gave me no documentation before I pulled away. I was told it would be emailed to me. I had to follow up a week later, and go through multiple email exchanges to receive ALL the documentation. They flat out ignored me when I followed up in the same email exchange about being mailed physical copies. Honestly, I didn't ask or want physical copies, but don't offer something at the point of sale you never intend on doing, and don't flat out ignore the question when I follow up. Now nearly a month later they tried to charge me an additional $114, and strap me with the UPS fees to send me my new plates, and registration. Reasons for the extra registration fees included but were not limited to 'DMV shortages'. Shortages of what? No answer. They then pivoted, and tried to tell me that it was because I only paid for license plate transfer fees at the time of my sale. Something I explicitly asked for at the time (as previously mentioned here) and was told wasn't even an option. Of course, at no point was there an offer to send me documentation to reflect proof of the additional fees they were requesting. As soon as I pushed back on these additional fees, and UPS mailing charges they almost immediately agreed to 'waive them.' What does that tell you? I think most people understand when entering a car dealership that they are trying to get the best deal for themselves. However, there's an honest way to do it, and a wholly deceitful, and predatory way to get a 'customer' out the door with a sale. When I entered, I stood for about five minutes before someone acknowledged me. This is was only bad experience I had and the reason for four stars. Other than that, I have experienced outstanding customer service. Jenna was my advisor and took great care of me. Hardy was the mechanic working on my vehicle. When I was walked to the garage by Jenna, I met Hardy. He explained everything that was going on with my car. He was extremely nice and was patient with all the questions I had. I recently purchased a "previously owned" 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid at this dealership. In retrospect, I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who's looking for professional (and respectful) Customer Service. I'm guessing this "attitude of indifference" starts at the very top; but the Sales Dep't. is certainly in need of an "attitude adjustment." From the initial "bait & switch" tactics (the vehicle I drove 45+ minutes to look at "was no longer available;") to their 'less than ethical' negotiating process; and "SLOW TO NO" follow up (immediately after purchasing a $19k vehicle), these guys proved to me "they really don't give a $hit!"... about their customers! The final straw that motivated me to leave this negative review was the 1/4 (one quarter) tank of gas they sent me home with, after we finally consummated the deal. To add insult to injury, the General Sales Manager, Adrian Acosta 1) promised to reimburse my wife for her first tank of gas, 2) told me to email him the receipt (which I promptly sent,) and 3) never bothered to send us a check, even after I followed up to remind him! Obviously, a cheap, chicken$hit move after just spending $20 grand @ DCH. I recently bought a 2022 Suburban Premier from them. Before I drive 3.5 hours to purchase the car I asked for all the service records which they emailed me . When we left the fuel light was on. My husband had to put 67 dollars in the tank to fill it and another 5 to put air in the tires because they were low on air. When I got home I realized it was not driving right. I called their service department and they had no record on anything that was done to the car. I immediately took it to our Chevy dealer where we normally buy all our cars. They put it in the lift and told me the transmission was shot and so were the front rotors. I called the dealership so another 3.5 hours I spent in that car which the service manager told me he wasn't sure if I would make it. I got my 2022 Equinox back. And my down payment which was large took 10 days to get back to me. They said it has to go to Wisconsin and to then before they could mail it. The odd thing was the check came from Old Bridge not Wisconsin. I was also told I would receive the money for the fuel for what we had to put in the day we bought the car because their fuel cards were off and I would also be reimbursed for taking it in and finding out what was wrong with the car which I never received. I spoke to Matt who was very rude. Someone like that should not be working with the public. He told me I was lucky he took the car back. I said I had 1000 miles to return it. He also stated that his wife wouldn't have to drive 3.5 hours to purchase a car. Who is he to judge what a person makes. What he doesn't know is I make more in one night than he originally makes in a week. He was very unprofessional and did not want to deal with me. I have all the paper to back up what has happened. I left a review on their page and they removed it immediately. I will be contacting the local news station. As soon as I returned the car they put it back on the lot and listed it for sale knowing what is wrong with it. I do not want someone to go through what we did. They are shady and they sell lemons. Watch out for Miguel !!!!. He will try to put you in anything to get you off the lot(to make his comission) and once your off the lot. DO NOT BUY A USED CAR HERE. I was sold a complete lemon. At the time of purchase I asked to take the car to a local mechanic to have it checked out independently, and the salesman Darren told me that was not allowed. He said that it has been through their service department multiple times and that if anything major was wrong with it, they would have found it. He said this is not some small-time used car dealer, this is DCH Academy Honda, a major dealer. He said they would not sell it if it was not in good condition. Boy, do I feel stupid. I took the truck (2004 Nissan Frontier) to a mechanic recently because of a funny noise when turning. After looking at it, he was astounded that a reputable dealership had sold it to me. He said the following were major issues that it was very unlikely had all happened in the few months since I bought the truck: - extensive rust damage - severe power steering pump leak - faulty driveshaft carrier bearing - very leaky rear main seal - oil pan very leaky and very rusty I grew up in the south where rust on cars was not a major issue, so I specifically asked the dealer about the rust level since I did not have any gauge for how bad it was. They told me it was very minor and was in very good condition for a truck of its age. This is not what the mechanic said. When I called to talk to the dealership about this, to give them a chance to handle it with integrity, they responded extremely defensively: basically, "you bought it as is, so is there anything else I can help you with?" At the last minute come to find out they had my husband registered to my care and a phone number that was not mine. And everyone please check all of the unnecessary add on fees. Reported sluggish starts so they did some tests and replaced the alternator for 800 some dollars. Unfortunately I was in a hurry to head out of town for a month with the car (which still had sluggish starts) so did not drive right back in to tell them the $$$ alternator hadn't fixed the problem. Yesterday I had to get towed because not even AAA could get it to start, but given my feeling that DCH just replaced the most lucrative item in the starting sequence, I had it towed to the local guy. And in reading other reviews I see lots of disappointment with each of service, new car sales, internet sales, used car sales....and a lot of apologies. DCH Academy Honda NJ service center is dishonest, takes advantage of customers and lacks the knowledge of Honda Service bulletins (Recalls). They also send customers with issues around in circles with calls that are never returned! I have a 2018 Honda Civic and my AC blew out warm air. I Initially took the vehicle to dch academy Honda on 5/18/21 for service to fix the AC. I was charged $173.08 for a diagnostic. It was discovered that the condenser was leaking. Their service technician Jenna stated my vehicle was NOT covered under warranty which would cost me $1044 plus tax to fix. I declined the service due to the cost. But was required to pay the diagnostic fee. After getting home I researched the AC issue online myself. According to Honda Bulletin 19-091 there IS an extended warranty due to the AC Condenser leaking as long as it isn't damaged from an outside source. I contacted DCH academy Honda. I spoke with their service manager Steve who informed me he would call me back with a good will consideration decision and I may have to pay up to Half of the $1,044. In which I didn't even need as I shouldn't have to pay a dime because my car IS covered. We waited for 2 weeks suffering in 90 degree weather driving my 4 year old autistic daughter to school and therapy. I called and left messages. Never got any response. I realized I would get NO help so I contacted The Honda dealership where I purchased the car. It is 1.5 hours away but they said they could help. On 6/8/21 I went into The Honda Dealership where I purchased the car and my car was fixed no charge as it indeed was covered under extended warranty. DCH Honda is dishonest, broke my trust and lacks the knowledge of Honda Service bulletins. Why aren't they aware of recalls for the vehicles they fix day in and day out!! I deserve to be refunded the egregious diagnostic charge of $173.80 as it IS covered under the extended warranty. I am a single mom who's money is precious and and shouldn't have been taken advantage of in this manner. I will never return to DCH Academy Honda! read more

I went through hell at this dealership. Long story short: I was told several different stories about refunds and recieving my title. I had to email the GM twice. I had an ongoing conversation with the head of the department for over 4 months. I didn't receive a refund after being reported I would for paying and handling my own taxes after they could not obtain my documents....long story shorter: Don't Go Here or Buy with a Lawyer. I got a quote from the dealer for $5500 plus fees for the car I was interested in at 3pm in the afternoon. I came in just after they opened the following morning. All of a sudden they found $2000+ in repairs the vehicle needed. So one of two things happened. They either 1. Don't inspect vehicles before listing them which is a bad practice, or 2. Get you in there and raise the price. Left an incredibly bad taste in my mouth. Also the repairs they listed would have cost about $800-1200 not $2000 so regardless they were trying to rip me off. So stopped in to look at a few cars. First impression are terrible place looks like a dump. The construction is everywhere and limited parking to say the least. Once you get inside and take a look at sticker prices on new cars and you notice they add upwards of 2500 on top of Msrp prices it's prob best to look elsewhere. I have been trying to get my title fixed for my Chevy Cruze that I bought. Apparently there is a typo on the title that the dealership didn't disclose to me upon purchasing my car. The technician at the inspection station had to point out the mistake to me. My car is mistakenly listed as a truck on the title and registered as a truck. I have submitted the requested paperwork three times already to get this fixed and have been completely ignored. I was told by Anthony Lidondici that listing a car as a truck on the title and registration doesn't make a difference however, don't insurance companies charge more to insure a truck than a car? Doesn't the DMV charge more to register a truck rather than a car? How many times to I have to ask to get this fixed?? I thought this was taken care of already but I received my renewal for my registration and found out it wasn't. This dealership is very quick to get you signed and into the car you pick..after that don't expect any service. Once you need to go back to fix anything or change anything you are looked at like a nuisance, you can tell nobody really wants to talk to you or help you with additional paperwork. Besides all that there are several problems with the car that I had to fix after purchasing it (coolant leak, MAF issues). Wouldn't come back here after my experience. read more

I came a little early, explained the issue to the service representative eriq, he enters the data to the computer and found a software recall that needs to be performed and let me know what's the maximum time it will take to fix my car.
