Magpie's is great because it's a store that features unique items. Everything here from local (Leduc, Beaumont ad Edmonton area) artisans and producers. There's a huge variety of gifts here, kitchen stuff, jewellery, art, bath products, and greeting cards. They also have a nice selection of kids toys as well. I always enjoy popping into Magpie's to see what's new because the vendors change every once in a while (maybe every few months). It's one of the stores where if you see something you like you'll want to buy it, because you can't be sure it'll be there next time. But the one thing that always stands out to me is the staff. Everything I've come in the person working is very friendly and helpful. One time I came in and talked to the lady working about needing to find a thank you card for a friend I was going to visit in Vancouver. Came in a few weeks later to look for something else and the same lady remembered me and asked how my trip to Vancouver was. Super friendly staff, really cool unique products that support local artisans and craftspeople is always a win. If you're in Leduc make sure to stop into Magpie's.

They're $3 & they're great little scrubbie cloths. Highly recommend them! Great little store, the lady that rang me in (I believe she was the owner) had wrapped my gift up nicely & the other lady at the till put into a nice little gift bag for me. It looked great! As for their namesake, their framing is impeccable and the images they have on hand are impressive and varied. I've seen a lot of different projects done out of here and the work is beautiful. I often pass by framing shops in the malls in Edmonton and never go in because I worry it's out of my price range or that im going to be subjected to high pressure sales tactics. I have never had these worries at Black Gold Gallery and Frame. The owner is a lovely woman who is friendly but content to leave you to browse if you tell her you are just looking. A little known fact about this place also is if you are a Bradford exchange fan they will place an order for you if you see something you like on the website and will do it through their own account which is great if online shopping makes you uncomfortable or you don't have a credit card. Just make sure you have at least half the money to put down on your purchase and they will call you when it arrives. They were very understanding with me the last time I made a purchase and it took me three days to get to Leduc to actually pick it up. I only received one extra reminder phone call and not once was I ever accused of trying to flake out on paying them the other half of the money. These folks have been around since 1993 and with great selection and unbeatable customer service it is easy to see why. If you are in the Leduc area and looking to add to the decor of your home make sure to give this great small business a look and I promise you will not be disappointed.

The greenhouse is small and located in the front yard of a private residence with a main building/shop and 2 greenhouses attached. There was care taken to details and all questions were answered thoughtfully. The atmosphere was cheerful and the plants were lovingly looked after. I hope this little gem stays afloat and we will definitely be returning when in the area! And my toddler quite enjoyed playing with the owner's dog, Maggie. Prices were on par and the gift shop had cute seasonal decorations that we just couldn't resist for our garden! We will definitely return!

I was greeted by Wonder Woman (it was Halloween) and she was very friendly and helpful. She let me browse the store without pressure (which I really appreciate because some stores can put a lot of pressure on you to purchase). Other than Christmas decorations, Jilly's a bit of everything! There is clothing in the back (it's very expensive though - so expensive I almost choked on my gum). They also have numerous home decor items, candles, bath and soap products, they have a lot of stuff. The sale section towards the back of the store drew me in immediately (it had purses). The store doesn't have an exact closing date but it won't be very long. Currently seasonal items are 60-70% off (some seriously cute Xmas décor and ornaments) and the remainder of the store is 20-30% off. They have really cute jewellery and unique items for special gifts. I really like their line of moon necklaces/bracelets where you pick the phase of the moon on a special date (birth, death, wedding, etc.) and can wear it as jewellery. I also like their sparkly Swarovski crystal bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. Some stuff here for sure can be found elsewhere or online for less but that's not the point of a boutique store. It's getting to go somewhere and browse through various collections to find the perfect gift for someone special. If you're a fan of s'well bottles, they still have a fairly good collection of unique ones and at 20% off you're paying a fair price for the designer s'wells. (Note you can get plain jane ones at Costco for $30) but the ones here are GORGEOUS and make me smile. But at the Prettiest Present they really have a great variety of really useful gifts! From presents for those pooch peeps, to culinary and kitchen gadgets - as well as neat necessities. Then there are the baby gifts, the seasonal decor for your own abode, a wall of tempting teas and some really unique jewelry. And then the pies de resistance... they have the most fabulous collection of gift bags, gift boxes and paper so that when you find that perfect present you can also wrap it up without having to go to another store! Love it!! Although, I do not remember seeing ribbon or cards, I could be wrong, or maybe that's just asking for the moon. Pro Tip: Make sure to go into the basement! Often you go into a store like this and assume that down the steps is just a small smattering of a few other things. But in this case the basement is the majority of the shop.
